I believe samosas remain my favorite roo food, but HOLY CRAP YOU GUYS I have a new second favorite. Did anyone else try the imayamadilla? From the same quesadilla place with the pesto mozzadilla and the feta medadilla. The imayamadilla had roasted sweet potatoes, mango salsa, black beans, and cheddar cheese. SO AMAZINGLY TASTY.
The food trucks were also AWESOME. We tried the tacos and the pineapple water from the Taco Bus, the dirty chips, the arepa, and the hibiscus lemonade from Gastropod (at least I think that's where the hibiscus lemonade was from?), the chili and chips from Petro's, and the meatloaf/hash browns/bacon meatballs from Eat Box. All of it was deeelicious. Those meatballs were SO GOOD.
Oh, and I will mention on Ed's behalf that he was a big fan of the gigantic pork chop on a stick he found near our campsite, and he was so happy with the gator that he ate three different types of gator throughout the weekend.
My favorite food is mac-n-cheese so I hit up the place on the left of the Which stage three different times. And the funny part was that the mac-n-cheese was different each time but all good nonetheless but I'm such a fan it's really hard to find bad mac-n-cheese.

Pesto mozzadillas FTW. OMG WTF LOL ROFLMMFAO. ;D My friends thought I was nuts for talking about them the whole time, and eating at least 5 of them (even though the vendor near That Tent was very slow and disorganized). This was in spite of the fact that we brought plenty of food, some of it hot/to cook.
I went grocery shopping tonight and picked up ingredients to make my own. I think I am going to live ont these for a while - super tasty, somewhat healthy, and easy to make. And here's the kicker - I DON'T EAT RAW TOMATOES, ever. I grow tomatoes, I love tomato sauces and sometimes ketchup, and I never like raw tomatoes with anything. I take them off of food. But I bought some romas today and plan on eating them in quesadillas. Can't wait for my roma plants to be ready to harvest, and I don't think I'll be canning or cooking many of the 'maters for once. I wonder what pesto mozzadillas taste like when they aren't covered in dust and grime and I can smell things other than my own feet?
The Spicy Pie that is popular here was really good too, and I will attempt to replicate that as well. I've made many pizzas, though rarely with a thinner crust, and never combining pepperoni, jalapenos, and crushed red pepper. No cayennes (for dry red pepper) in the garden this year, but I expect to have plenty of jalapenos and various tomatoes for the sauce.
Thank you thank you thank you, Inforoo. I tried the highly lauded pesto mozzadilla on Thursday and didn't have to worry about deciding what to eat the rest of the fest - too good to even try much else. Just kicking myself now for not growing any basil this year, though maybe it isn't too late.

That Mac n Cheese was the bomb. That mac n cheese with pulled pork sandwich.

What was the Petros thing exactly, and was it any good? I almost tried that but used one of the porta-johns over there first and got too grossed-out to eat for a while. I remember wanting to try it, but not so much what it consisted of. Too much corn that day maybe.

I frequent three food/beverage items every year.
1. Lemonade. It's a lifesaver. 2. Spicy Pie. I get the veggie so it's not real spicy pie, but I make it spicy with an inordinate amount of red pepper flakes. 3. Planet Roo Cafe. I like the veggie stir fry and tried the Sezchuan (sp?) noodles this year. My boyfriend SWEARS by the spinach quesadillas.
Taco Bus for sure! The food trucks in general were the best place to eat. One of our crew ate at every single truck, and he agreed that Taco Bus was the best. That raspberry lemonade from Pot Kettle Black was so damn good though. They sold out of it quickly!
I hardly ate a thing all weekend. I knew I had to eat, so I forced clif bars and grilled cheese down, and a slice of spicy pie (not the spicy kind, actually.. I think it was the veggie kind).. but that's it. Eating made me nauseous. It was too damn hot to eat. They need more COLD food options! I had a few lemonades and smoothies, and those helped a ton.
The $1 grilled cheese were the only thing I could get to stay down the first day, but another vote for the pesto mozzadillas!!!! I wish I had tried one sooner!!!!
I didn't even make it to the Food Trucks, whoops. But as suggested by people here I tried the chicken/cheese samosa and it was delish!
Also the Greek place on the way in sold 2 big pieces of baklava for only $3 and it was OMG MOUTH WATERING. The heat made it so it just about melted in your mouth. I was so sad when I returned the next day for more and they had none
Because we read so many great reviews about the food before we went, we only packed snack-type food and some fruit for camp. We pretty much shared everything we ordered from vendors so we could enjoy as many things as possible. The pineapple water from taco bus was amazing as well as their food. Short rib sliders from Gastropod were great, and i think the teriyaki bowl from the chinese/thai place by the VIP hill at the What stage saved my life twice over the weekend. Loved the arepas and was sad when I could not find one on Sunday. The $10 huge burrito by the Which was crazy good and crazy big. Tried the chicken and cheese samosa as well as the spicy potato. (Spicy potato wins hands down). Spicy Pie was everything that I could have hoped for and more.
it's so hard to forget pain, but it's even harder to remember sweetness. we have no scars to show for happiness. we learn so little from peace. -chuck palahniuk

Steak and cheese samosas for me, hands down. Until they sold out of them at every Samosaman station that is. Also, I almost Leno my pants when I saw they sold sweet potato fries (aka my achilles heel). After no more samosas I ate a lot of spicy pie (though I actually got the pepperoni, but from that vendor). I was so excited someone was selling watermelon. That was so refreshing in the middle of the day! Also, I had rootbeer floats twice from the vendor right at the front of Centeroo. Never has a rb float been more savored. I can't believe I missed the mac and cheese. That's tragic.
