Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
To expand the crowd areas properly (width), they would have to take out the VIP areas, so we know that's not happening. I don't think making the area longer would help much, just make it harder to bounce between stages. Anyways, once we figured out the secret to the shuttles (which I will never share!!!) we had a great time. Foo Fighters and Paul Simon were so awesome. Can't wait to see McCartney next year.

I disagree about the sound from surf style. Primus was the only band I saw there that was having an issue all weekend. Ween and lips had higher volumes and for black keys I was further back than I was all weekend and I could still hear it fine. Basically, primus did not suck that day.
7/2 - Lotus, MiMoSa, The New Deal, The Glitch Mob 7/3 - Red Rocks and Blue II w/ Umphrey's Mcgee and Easy Star All Stars 7/4 - Umphrey's Mcgee Boulder, CO

glad it worked out for you. for me MMJ and black keys and the lips were all way too quiet. fwiw I'm sensitive to loud volumes and typically where earplugs at most shows.
Are y'all sure its a presale on 11/11/11? I haven't been keeping up just wondering if I missed something.
If this is true that would MAKE my year! I will be down there Nov 11-13 so would be SOOOO easy to get fix! If we find out that is the case and anyone wants me to pick up fix for them just PM me and we'll work out the details! Yaaay! ;D
for some reason i have a feeling hangout would get DMB.. i hope not
you know a lot of people have that feeling this year. DMB would definitely match the vibe, though I'm not a fan.
I'm hoping, as I always am for every festival I go to, that Hangout books Phish this year. didn't work out last year though the hangout organizers definitely tried, maybe this year it will happen.
Looks like Roger Waters isn't happening either based on his tour. Though I think hangout's lineup will be huge this year, I think waters doing the Wall would be TOO huge.
BUT, this year's lineup at Hangout will melt faces.
I've seen DMB a few dozen times, but never on a beach. So while I wouldn't go back to Hangout based solely on them being a headliner, I would probably have a blast dancing to them with my toes in the sand.
That's the beauty of Hangout: even a band that's not your favorite becomes more tolerable/enjoyable when you've got a frozen cocktail in one hand, ocean breezes on your face, and sand under your feet. Unless it's a smaller act playing in the parking lot. Then it's just hot, nasty asphalt. But you get the gist!

beautifully put. many of my friends were groaning about Foo Fighters last year, but when we had our whole group of a dozen+ strong rocking the frack out to Learning To Fly on the beach after a day of incredible music? all coolness and pretense drops and its just you and your friends having an amazing time in a beautiful setting.
and yes, pretty much any show at the Grooveshark/uncovered asphalt stage in the morning/early afternoon is a waste of time, because it is so hot and miserable. jj grey and mofro last year was one of my more unpleasant festival experiences in recent memory, mainly because of the heat but also because i don't like jj grey and mofro at all.
^ man, the Trombone Shorty set (was that the Grooveshark stage where he played this year?) was hot enough musically, but dancing on that blacktop made it feel like the 7th circle of Hell. Still, it was an aaaaaamazing show!
You're right about JJ Grey: his "Slow, Hot & Sweaty" song was PERFECT for that place & time.

Thankfully, Motorhead was the only band I saw on that stage all weekend. I think the hottest set I saw all weekend was Portugal on the Surf Style stage at like 11:00am or whatever it was. I can't imagine how hot it would have been on the blacktop.

yeah shorty was on the grooveshark stage. I missed his set, I can't remember who I was going to see. Probably someone on the Surf Style stage I couldn't hear. I was finally fed up with the surf style stage by whenever the black keys played. I couldn't hear them so I went to see Galactic at the surf style stage. GREAT crowd at that set!

seeing Lemmy was a dream come true. Such an incredible experience. In a perfect world Motorhead would have headlined and destroyed minds on the beach.
DMB/Phish RHCP Jack Johnson next year's top 3
I've been thinking RHCP for a while now. They would be a great fit for the "rock" act, and they'll be touring in 2011. I could do without Jack Johnson or DMB. Phish of course would be amazing for me.
BUT I can deal with at least one headliner I don't like. it just means i drive home early one day, no big deal.

I loved seeing Motorhead, but I was embarrassed by the size of the crowd. But I guess they would have never been there if they weren't touring with Foo Fighters.
I hate hate hate RHCP, but they do make a lot of sense as a headliner.
I think Wilco will be your festival whores this year and think it is likely to see them there. I just can't decide if they get something like the MMJ slot or a headlning spot.
The Hangout 2012 is shaping up to be even better with an expanded festival site - meaning more space and better amenities but with the same number of tickets. 2012 will also be a cleaner, greener festival and most importantly, the music will be incredible!
I did hangout last year VIP style and enjoyed it a great deal. I am a bit surprised to see such dramatic price increases. I realize the cost of doing business and the like when it comes to concerts. But last year I paid 550.00 for VIP with no early bird discount and this year the early bird is 699.00, advance is 749.00, and then regular is 849.00. However, when looking over the amenitities there is no change from last year. Any thoughts?
One of my students just booked a condo at Buena Vista thru VRBO.com for $800; it's a penthouse unit that sleeps 6-8. I found similar units in the same tower that sleep 4-6 for roughly $125/night.
Hotels - esp. those w/a gulf view & a chain name - can run upwards of $300/night.
One thing I've noticed w/these rental companies: the weekend of Hangout is listed as "Spring 2012" for some and "Summer 2012" for others; the rates for the latter are waaaay higher. I'm hoping to book this week before it's slim pickins. Last year I got a free condo about 12mi away and I will NOT repeat that mistake again!
