I saw Bon Iver at Roo '09 waiting to get a good spot for Of Montreal.........I was faced and he was still boring. F-artsy crap, there are a ton of those bands lately.
Bon Iver was the only band I saw at Roo '09 out of like 40 bands that I thought sucked. I saw like 13 bands I'd never heard of too.

I just don't get them. Their music is just way too sappy and boring for me to enjoy in any form. Saw them on SNL not too long ago and thought to myself, "this is the Bon Iver everyone is alreayd raving about?"
To each their own...I know a few people who would be happy to see them on the lineup. I could really care less either way.
I don't know if I'd go so far as to call them lame, but judging by the trend with bands at the Hangout, I'd be surprised to see Bon Iver. They have a very subdued sound and looks like the Hangout organizers want to throw a frat party style rager, wouldn't really mesh.
So true, Elav8. Their music goes nowhere! Way too many hipster bands pull this crap lately. tons of noise with no peak or anything. Dr. Dog is like this to me. Bands like Godspeed and Isis pull that off but this stuff just comes off as pretentious and boring to me.

for the most part I do not like the slow siriusxmu type hipster indie stuff that is devoid of any decent beat or pop song structure, and not in an interesting post rock kind of way. but Bon Iver is awesome. the music is beautiful and fascinating IMO.

Dr. Dog, really? You sure you're not thinking of someone else? There's nothing subtle or atmospheric about Dr. Dog, just a lot basic pop structures. They aren't trying to be anything more than a throwback pop band, almost to a fault.
Bon Iver bores me to tears. I get why people like it, I guess, but I can't imagine watching that on a beach in the afternoon sun.
Yea Dr. Dog is who I meant. I've only heard them at Allgood '10 in the daytime and it was just boring. I don't remember what they sound like really. I'm going to see them in Mobile the day before Of Montreal next week to give them another chance in a small club.

Of Montreal is a psychedelic band that has a lot of tripster fans. Stupid kids with indian facepaint give them a bad name. OM is hardcore psychedelic. I've seen OM 15x or so, they are original great music. Bon Iver makes my penis soft.
Opinions are like bungholes, ya know.
SILK- Go to the Mobile show, that's my buddy's bar they are playing it. It's going to be truly epic! You will want to go to the NOLA show the next night after you experience the mayhem of the MOB show.
Glad someone said it. I keep giving Iver another chance because of his popularity, but I don't get it at all. He sounds like Will Farrell pretending to be an EMO god. But!, even if you like him, why would you want to see him at the Hangout? At a club with tables and about 40 people maybe, but a beach party? And I only like Dr.Dog ok, but they should not be in the same conversation.
Yea I was hungover really bad at Allgood I honestly don't remember what the sound like, I just remember the same type of boredom I felt during Bon Iver though. "next band please!"
Givers are opening at that Dr. Dog show......saw them recently, hipsters came out of the woodwork for that one.

Digital Groove with Tiesto is playing a club (Wild Bill's) in Atlanta coming up in April. Maybe that is the same tour that is doing The Hangout Pre-party thing. to be honest I don't know what Digital Groove with Tiesto is even supposed to mean
^^ yes this is true. Hot babes in bikinis everywhere makes it easy to have fun. Pannnnama'd.
I have a great time peoplewatching spunions at festivals and Skrillex/DMB will provide plenty of serious laffs from rookie bros and noob kids. Teeth grinding, whack dancing, falling out etc
This lineup almost ensures I will get to save several lives via providing water .
These were my exact thoughts when I heard the lineup. I still think it's impossible to not have a good time at this festival though.
I agree...this fest is such a good time. I admit I partied way too much last year and missed some of my favorite bands but it is that type of atmosphere. My condo was walking distance so to stroll back there was no problem.
Staying in the same place this year and there are more than enough acts to have a blast. Can't wait for the Alabama Shakes.

I think it is original, amazingly crafted, beautiful music. I normally do not like vocals as high as his voice is, but I also can't imagine the music with a deeper voice singing.
I liked Bon Iver before SNL. Their SNL performance blew me away. I cant wait to see them, I know I will eventually.
EDIT: I hear what some of you are saying about it not really fitting in with the rest of the lineup, but Its chill music, and I, for one, would love to chill to it by the ocean.

You have bad taste.
I have bad tastes because I don't like the faggotree of Bon Iver?
I have a giant tattoo of Frank Zappa on my arm, I clearly have unrefined tastes.

agreed, forget to mention the SNL performances gave me crazy goosebumps. i didn't know how the music would translate live. that band was freaking awesome.
give Bon Iver a sunset slot after a day full of raging in the heat and i will gladly dig a chair in the sand and chill out for an hour while soaking in the music.
Obnoxious partying males who are often seen at college parties. When they aren’t making an ass of themselves they usually just stand around holding a red plastic cup waiting for something exciting to happen so they can scream something that demonstrates how much they enjoy partying. They often wear a rugby shirt and a baseball cap. It is not uncommon for them to have spiked hair with frosted tips.
