Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Yea Dr. Dog is who I meant. I've only heard them at Allgood '10 in the daytime and it was just boring. I don't remember what they sound like really. I'm going to see them in Mobile the day before Of Montreal next week to give them another chance in a small club.
Yeah dude, that's silly. There is nothing hipster about that band. In fact, Of Montreal has a way bigger hipster following.
I dig you, Bon Iver bores the shit out of me.
But Dr. Dog is some seriously great stuff. I can't believe you would lump them in to that category.
Nearly everyone on this board is a hipster to some degree (at least the new definition of them as opposed to the 30's one). Just because you don't look like one or your personality hasn't been (or can't be) characterized on Portlandia, doesn't mean that you're not one. You're posting on a gotdamn bonnaroo messageboard for fuck's sake.
And while we're quoting urban dictionary:
Hipsters are a subculture of men and women typically in their 20's and 30's that value independent thinking, counter-culture, progressive politics, an appreciation of art and indie-rock, creativity, intelligence, and witty banter.

There is a good chance I may be a Hipster and never knew it. All these years it was some thing wrong with my brain that made me despise music and arts my wife and family liked. I will be holding a Hipster Hangout Fest at The Hangout Fest. (kind of like InforooBrunch) but with less pancakes and muffins and more mix tapes and NPR. Also I will be using the handle TugBroCharlie but will not have frosting near my tip.

"typically in their 20's and 30's" but may also be 40-50+

Late nights are up on Jambase (at least that's my assumption that they represent late nights). Fri: Archnemisis, Sun: Paper Diamond/Big Freedia. I bet they announce these soon and adds to follow.

They didn't have any late night shows on Sunday last year so I'd be surprised if they did this year. It's definitely possible though, and I'd be all for it!
What do ya want from me? I'm paying to go see them again next Thursday to give them another chance. Already said I was hungover and don't remember them well.
I liked Dr. Didg at that Allgood way more.
Hipster can be defined however, but when I use it I'm referring to the trendy, vacuous, faux-intellectual, pretentious d-bag types. Super conformist non-comforists. That TV show Portlandia is pretty funny by depicting those groups so well.
I love weirdos and genuine people. Big difference between freaks and hipsters in my opinion.
check out that youtube vid for "shxt hipsters say", that guy hits the nail on the head. (hate to generalize or strereotype but I've met too damn many of them)

True, but they did the first year of Hangout. Bad rain in the afternoon cancelled Matisyahu's set so they moved it to late night after Trey. The first 500 people will festival wristbands that weren't jerryrigged on or whatever got in. That show was SICK, the whole crowd was levitating.
^^ yes this is true. Hot babes in bikinis everywhere makes it easy to have fun. Pannnnama'd.
I have a great time peoplewatching spunions at festivals and Skrillex/DMB will provide plenty of serious laffs from rookie bros and noob kids. Teeth grinding, whack dancing, falling out etc
This lineup almost ensures I will get to save several lives via providing water .
This is great and may put this in my sig. I love giving people (idiots) about to die water toooo.

Can Republicans that post on bonnaroo message boards be hipsters?
And wow, you're like a walking, talking infomercial to turn people away from Pearl Jam and Ohio State, aren't you? Before you started posting here I quite liked Pearl Jam and was indifferent towards OSU, now I find myself wishing that Eddie Vedder falls down a mine shaft or that Columbus is infested with locusts

Ron Paul is 2 brave 2 quit. pjbuckeye, are you suggesting that the republican party is in no way "progressive"??? Santorum is probably gonna hire Jesus as secretary of state to help convince americans that we need to start a war in Iran. How's that for progressive politics? Not quite as progressive as blowing up some towers to ruffle american feathers, but it gets the job done cheaper, amirite? Golly, I miss Teddy Roosevelt.
TL;DR I didn't write the most upvoted entry for "hipster" on urban dictionary. Trey Parasuco did that apparently...ask that nigga.

yeah, right on man! I mean it was only 3000 civillians. What's the big deal?

BREAKING NEWS
this just in, reports have surfaced that tupac and elvis have been spotted alive, riding the montauk monster through the skies over area 51...
I am goin to the Dr. Dog/Givers show at the Music Box. Ought to be a good show. Unfortunately gonna be out of town for the OM show...
I love the crowd at the Music Box... it is completely different than any bar in the area. It is about the only bar in the area I can go to and not feel the need to punch somebody in the throat for being obnoxious.
Alot of that obnoxious crowd will be there for the Givers (like the last Givers show), but man! The Givers put on a helluva show last time around!

The Music Box remains to be one of my favorite music venue buildings. I haven't been there many times at all with that name, but I used to go all the time when it was Soul Kitchen. I caught Robert Randolph there once and it is one the best shows I've ever seen. So good.

Speaking of RR... Robert Randolph and Mickey Hart Band w/ Dave Schools is playing Soul Kitchen April 28!

Was that on a Monday night I think, several years ago? I remember that was the first "big" artist I remember playing downtown mobile. It really was a magical night. Mobile still has oodles of unfulfilled potential but our arts scene is so much better then it was ten years ago.

Can't say I remember, though that was probably the one. So many good shows there. Galactic, North Mississippi Allstars, and Dirty Dozen Brass Band always used to kill it too. It's been a good while since I've lived in Mobile, but it does seem like the music and art scene are getting better. I hear you on the unfulfilled potential. It's in such a great location with the bay and all. Way too much untapped potential. They need a good radio station down there, too.

ha! Yes I hear this. But replaced with another Christian station? Power 88 wasn't enough? Jesus got greedy. 92Zew is pretty tame, isn't it? And TK101 is stuck in 1996. A good college radio station is what they need, especially for a town with three universities in it.

I'm not even worried about radio stations. People should just get XM or Sirius if they want radio, clearchannel and friends have ruined FM radio for good.
The Zew is alright. If you are stuck at a job or somewhere that has to have radio on, that is the one. They play a huge variety of stuff. I've heard Panic on there before.
