If you were past the sound booth, you might as well not even have been there. So hopefully they figure it out. I would agree that it's my #1 concern, I'm unaffected by late nights or shuttles, but I'd like to be able to hear 2nd stage acts near the back of the crowd.
Random info - I inquired about bring glow sticks into the festival and this is the response I got:
"I don't anticipate an issue with bringing glow-sticks... that being said, anything brought on site is at the discretion of the security guards at the gates."

That doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy... About anything, really. I am sure that there are some general rules that all will abide by, like glass, booze, etc. But not having a straight forward set of rules for every guard to follow is unsettling.
Glowsticks should be addressed in some kind of meeting they will be likely to have. "no glow sticks" or "glow sticks are fine" or "they can't bring in over 400 glow sticks at a time" or something.

Add me to the list of people not caring about late night shows. to me the best part of Hangout is after partying it up with friends at the condos. There is enough music during the fest for me. Once the Headliner is done...I'm good to go.
Also the late night shows were kind of lame last year and you have to pay extra.
Anyone see that EOTO is playing the late night shows at the Keg this year?! Not going to Hangout, but I might just have to hit up some late night keg action this year...
Why so slim? He plays Fort Worth on the 18th and New Orleans on the 20th. Just happens to be free and not play a gig that Saturday night? I'm not plugged in enough to know what else in the neighborhood could possibly attract him...or am I being naive?
Tenacious D announced a new album and corresponding tour. Tour starts 5/23 in Cali. Wonder if Hangout is talking to them about starting a few days earlier?

i have no idea, man...you asked for the odds, so i threw some numbers out there...
i'm still holding out hope for The Shins...anybody know of anything that could be responsible for that large gap from may 5 - may 24?

Wilco is in St. Augustine on 5/16, and Memphis on 5/19, so it's looking like they play Friday. Wilco--->Jack White is going to give me a headache. Push close for Wilco and settle for a spot further back for Jack White? Or hang near the back during Wilco for an easier escape route?
Oh here's a little nugget of info....... after that Experience Hendrix show in Orange Beach last Saturday, one of my hetty friends who had lost his face mentioned that the last artist addition will have "someone huge". He was tightlipped about it, but he is definitely in the know.
I was thinking about that quote and was wondering if there's still the possibility that a third headliner could be announced? I'm a HUGE fan of Jack White but I still don't see him as a big enough name to be closing out one of the nights of the shows. He seems more likely to fit in black keys' spot last year. Does any else see this possibility or am I just bat crazy?

I'm not a rabid Wilco fan or anything, but they put on a damn good show! Saw them at Tip's when they were filming Ashes of An American Flag and they were freakin' fantastic. I've seen them several times, but that one in particular really stands out. Don't underestimate Wilco!

I doubt it. I was originally skeptical White would be a top 3, too, but he's a main headliner at Sasquatch and likely Lolla, too. Plus, he's been playing the hits and got a ton of great press for the March mini-tour. He's solid top 3.
Maybe it's someone who's playing Jazz Fest? Eddie Vedder, Al Green, someone like that. Tenacious D and The Shins seem like real possibilities, too, although I'm not sure either of them qualify as "huge."
I've never been a huge fan of Jack White's bands, so he's not exactly headline material in my mind. But I guess that's how people who aren't Phish fans might feel about Trey Anastasio.
One could surmise that if there happens to be an Eddie Vedder addition it could facilitate a Temple of the Dog collab between Cornell and Eddie at Hangout. At least that's what I hope. Would be one of the musical highlights of my life.

Does Trey play Phish's most recognized fan favorites when he plays solo? It's an honest question as I have no interest whatsoever in that stuff.

IIRC, when he played the Hangout, he played 4 or 5 Phish songs, 2 covers (Black Dog and Devil Went Down To Georgia), and 7 or 8 TAB songs. The last time I saw him solo before that was in Atlanta in 2001. I just looked up the setlist and it was mostly TAB with a sprinkling of Phish.

He also played "It Makes No Difference" by The Band. That was the highlight of the show.
Anyway, Trey squashes Jack White in every sense of the word, and I'm not even a huge Trey fan. But Trey is way different than Phish. If you go see a Mike show, you will see some jamming and some musicians having musical conversations. If you go see Trey you're going to see a General ordering his troops around. Totally different experience.
When you consider the fact that Jack White was The White Stripes, you realize that it's not so much a question of "is he going to play his hits?" as it is "does he sound as good with a large band?"
Jack White shreds super hard.....I think he is gonna have Hangout's face by the balls.
I think Trey is getting fluffed pretty hard up in here, he's the man, but he fried a good bit of his brain with his opioid addiction. I have a blast everytime I see him, but he doesn't take me anywhere near as far out as say Jimmy Herring, Dweezil Zappa or even Fake Jerry.

Thank you for reminding me of that! That shit was the best! Such a classic!
Jack White is going to destroy that beach. His shows on this current tour have been mind blowing. You are getting the best of all this bands plus new stuff. I'm really excited to see the White Stripes stuff reworked with a full band. he also has 2 different bands he uses on any given night. Nothing Jack does is half assed....this show is going to be pretty sick.
