Damn, sucks I was given bunk info about two nights of cheese.
Yea. I was hoping you were right about that. Ah well. At least we get 2 sets of Cheese on the beach
As for my major conflict, I think I'd rather go see Umphrey's, but we will probably be at Wilco because we're bringing the kids and they entertain themselves on the beach.

This is my first Hangout. How bad is sound bleed? Specifically concerned about Umphrey's McGee on the "Letting Go" stage overtaking the quieter parts of Wilco's set on the "Chevrolet Stage." Are those stages even anywhere near each other?
If they letting go stage is the grooveshark stage from last year (pretty sure it is) there will be no sound bleed, they are far from each other.
Friday Same with following exceptions: not missing Chris Cornell, choosing Coheed over Yelawolf, Rebelution over Rich Aucoin
Saturday Same with following exceptions: back and fort between the Cheese and Flogging Molly, Gogol Bordello over Dr. Dog, will tolerate RHCP from balcony of condo
Sunday Same, but will tolerate DMB from Balcony of condo
Overall the schedule is not horrible, but I wish there was something to see alternative to RHCP and DMB. They really should have put Shpongle and Big Freedia at night alternative to the headliners on sat and sun.

It's totally possible that I will end up watching both RHCP and DMB from the back of the beach, but I couldn't bring myself to click either name. They really should have something scheduled against those sets, especially since Jack White isn't playing unopposed this year. Maybe the comedy stage will go past 8:00?

I agree on having sets opposite headliners. if they can put sts9 on during jack white then they can put sphongle on during RHCP and Greyboy on during Dave.
Sorry for those of you with major conflicts. My conflicts are only minor ones.
FLIPS vs G. Love - I'm choosing the FLIPS. I've seen both so it really isn't a huge miss either way.
WILCO vs Ump. - I've never seen Wilco but I've always enjoyed their music. Ump puts on a good show... this one was tough but I'll be at Wilco.
Cheese vs Flogging Molly - Toss up for me but the wife really wants to see Molly so she'll get her way (I will, however, pretend to be very upset about not seeing Cheese so that I can earn some bonus points for us doing what 'she wants')
Shows I WILL NOT miss are .... The Devil Makes Three, Gary Clark jr., and Edward Sharpe.

I love the majority of this schedule. Like all festivals i have a couple issues, missing wilco and M.ward on the beach SUCKS. But UM is a top 5 show for me.
I know most on this board are not fans but i wanted to atleast catch a song or two of mac miller. That wont be happening with gcj on the main stage. That is a must see.
Dispatch> CHEEEEEESE> RHCP ....winwood! > sharpe> LIPS!!!!> Dave. sat & sun will be nuts
goes without saying shpongle & grey boy are tragedys
I don't see how cheese does anything other than long set and encore, which is fine, but I was really hoping for two 1:30min sets over two days.....and hate that molly is at the same time. as previously noted, sphongle, grey boy and rebelution are just being wasted in those early slots. ....most excited to see edward sharpe for the first time.

couldn't agree more with your can't miss list...i'm in the same boat. the only shows i am more excited to see are greyboy, winwood and flogging molly. you absolutely will not regret flogging molly--HOLY SHIT they rock. that's an awesome "sacrifice" to have to make

when considering conflicts, don't forget to consider the stage setting. shows in the sand will always be cooler then shows on the concrete, both figuratively and literally.
the heat at the non covered concrete stage (letting go?) is BRUTAL at 1:00pm. much better to enjoy the heat in the sand.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Hangout Main Stage: sand Chevrolet Stage: sand, facing the main stage on the opposite side of the beach Xbox Stage: dance tent "Letting Go" stage: parking lot stage

hangout stage and chevrolet stage are on the beach. also factor in how long it takes to walk in the sand about a half a mile to get between those 2 stages. as soon as one show ends another is starting on the other end of the beach.

Yeah, that's something else to keep in mind. I would typically start moving toward the back 15 minutes before sets ended to get a head start. It's also much quicker to make a direct line to the boardwalk and use that to get to the other end of the beach. Walking in sand is slow.
