It's a mile from a MARTA stop, which is actually closer than I expected. You could walk it, or maybe figure out a bus. It won't be the quickest, but it's possible.
Thanks for all the helpful info! I'm gonna wait till tomorrow and hopefully see a full tour announcement, and if I dont see a Nashville show or a gap for Bonnaroo, me and some friends are def buying ATL tickets on Friday.

no shit, I think I saw pre-letsgetitstartedha Black Eyed Peas there maybe nine or ten years ago. tiny place, and the crowd was sparse. fuzzy memory (college) but i remember it being a good show.

Petty would definitely make sense. Popular act, won't piss off the locals, fits the overall vibe. I'd be pretty happy with that, kind of like Foo Fighters last year - I'm not necessarily a fan, but that's a set I'd like to see.
What are the chances we might get Tom.. I think it'd be great for the fest.
I'll be seeing Petty at Jazzfest the month before. Its possible and he fits the festival, but with a gap that big I don't know. a one off within a three hour radius of somewhere he played a few weeks earlier?
PMA- You got a hetty lineup of shows coming up, I'm impressed.
I seriously doubt Jack Johnson would be headlining Hangout. I know the people who book the bands and while he may be there, he wouldn't be a headliner. They are gonna have really big names for headliners. Beach Boys is likely to be there, but they would be a a daytime show. SCI I def think is happening (and have heard rumblings of more and more), I personally see Tool as a very possible headliner.

I don't know, I kind of think Beach Boys at Jazzfest means they won't be at Hangout. That's a pretty big deal for Jazzfest, wouldn't they make them sign a radius clause? I guess the same can be said about Petty, but Petty's not as unique as a Beach Boys reunion.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Waiting for a lineup of a festival when it will cinch my decision of whether I am attending or not is kinda stressful. Not going to lie.
And I'm gonna tell you it's an awwwwwesome festival, but...2 major festies within 3wks *is* a lot, esp. coming from so far away.
So... if you decide you don't wanna sink your toes into luxuriously relaxing sand while feeling peaceful ocean breezes blow in your face while you get your tan on & slurp on tropical cocktails - oh yeah, while seeing kickass live music with little or no schlepping your tired self from stage to stage because it's all in close proximity - then I'll understand. That kind of brutal torture ain't for the faint of heart, sister. It takes a truly hardcore seasoned festie vet to handle it without cracking under the pressure. You've been warned.

I still have to say there were a lot of logistical issues. In all fairness I had a 14, and 12 year old with me, and we stayed at the campground. Still none of us are just craving to go back for the trip this year. I am really thinking we will go to harvest instead.
Were cops breaking balls all weekend on the festival grounds?
Sunday they were. folks were getting busted for smoking. I didn't witness any busts personally but there was lots of complaints after the fest.
I don't remember the arrest stats for Hangout last year, but just to give you an idea, a typical Panic Wharf run (a local venue) nets around 100 arrests over 3 shows. Cops and locals here definitely don't "get it". I'm hoping the hard work of Huka and Zislin will, over the years, get through their thick stupid local heads that THE FESTIVAL BRINGS TENS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS INTO YOUR ECONOMY FROM PEACEFUL CONCERT GOERS WHO WANT NOTHING MORE THEN TO SPEND MONEY AND ENJOY THEMSELVES.

Last year I had Bonnaroo, DMB Caravan, my birthday and 3 concerts in a 3.5 weeks. Tiring, but can easily be done. It's more of a $ issue. With festivals, I have to think about the money I am losing in addition to the money I am spending. I still get paid for the day job but that is not where the dolla dolla bills are.

Unfortunately I'm currently in 2nd place in the "Like my picture" contest. I don't see how that's possible, but them's the facts. The only way we can win this is if you all get 10 friends each to like the picture. #KeepHopeAlive

Boo yeah!! I got a ticket from Santa Wife in my stocking. My regular festy bud already has plans for that time next year so I may be solo (but not a red solo cup). Hit me up if you are cool and don't mind a fat, married, guy with lots of bad jokes.

in the FWIW column, a hangout FB regular says Zislin told him "there will be no repeat bands from last year". interesting bit of info. I was hoping UM and MMJ would make repeat appearances, but this little tidbit of info still gets me excited for rumor season to start.
