What are the sizes of the stages? I saw the aerial that Katy posted, but I'm having a hard time with scale. I'm especially worried about the James Murphy set since the Dance Forest seems to be the smallest stage. I wanted to try to see him at Freefest to alleviate a possible conflict for Moog.

I can't go anymore due to my decision to ingest spine fusing drugs in exchange for $4000. I have two tickets to whoever needs them. Hope someone can make use of them.

That has to be one of the most interesting reasons for missing a concert I have ever read.

My friend wants me to come along with him to do a survey for 5,000. The catch is I have to be sequestered for 2 weeks while they ingest me with whatever drugs.
It's quite the logical leap from "rubs me the wrong way" to "I should act like there's some sort of organized conspiracy to prevent this guy from having fun because he's A Bad Person who doesn't deserve a free ticket to a free festival." Heh.
Anyway, I've got my ticket - thanks to the inforooster who miracled me! I don't want you to get in trouble for crossing the picket line, so to speak, so I won't reveal your name

Like, I see how you're trying to be humorous, but it just comes across really badly. Later you said how grateful you would be, but this post is like the customer we've probably all had at a crappy job who rushes you and yells at you for no reason.

Current weather forecast from my most trusted meteorologists:
Brace yourself for a novelty on Saturday: the sun finally returns. But we still contend with plenty of clouds, especially in the afternoon. At least showers should be fewer with only about a quarter of the area seeing rain in the late afternoon or early evening. Humidiy is a teensy bit lower as well. Highs are getting in a rut, topping out in the low-to-mid 80s. The evening readings invite us out as they range mainly in the low-to-mid 70s. Lows should slip to the low-to-mid 60s. Confidence: Medium-High
The Dance (dust) Forest looks to be a mud pit this year. Plan accordingly.
Record rainfall due to Lee. Everything is going to be damp/soggy for sure.
There really is nothing there, ITM. There is a bar behind The Sheraton but thats about it after 11. Colombia isn't a hotbed of activity. I'd drive into DC or Baltimore after the show and check that out.
If it were me ... and I had a room close by I'd grab a small cooler and some beer and hang out close to there. Chances are you arn't the only one staying there going to Virgin.

Maybe hit up Fells Point in Bmore.
There is a really hoppin party bar right with food and an outdoor patio right across the street from the venue, although, when I was there, they had a REALLY CRAPPY DJ cranking truly awful beats But we had a table on the patio where it was not that loud, and the drinks were good and wet and cold
Met up with people at Brunch. Went back to my hotel room for a little while to rest up. Went back down there a little after 3. Wandered around for a half hour.
Saw: Grace Potter and Nocturnals (all) !!! (majority of it) Patti Smith (few songs) CeeLo Green (majority) TV on the Radio (second half) Black Keys (all) Ghostland Observatory (ending)
Finally was nice to see GP&N and the Black Keys, long overdue with both of those.
Bunny and Dan - had a great time with you guys. We definitely need to hang out again.
Bonnie - we missed ya.
I ran into Ellie at !!!, and that was the only other Inforoo person I could find there. Was with Bunny from most of the time after 6, and she never saw anyone. Where were you people hiding out, and why don't y'all wanna come say hi to us?
And while waiting for the Keys, the jumboscreens showing people's text messages - my favorite was: "Whatever happened to deadmau1, 2, 3, and 4?"
-Alberta Cross was good (though sparsely attended), but the sound crew really shat the bed. Especially noticable during rise from the shadows
-Not impressed by the makeup of the crowd. You had your hipsters, your anti-hipsters ("I can listen to an entire grindcore album in about 20 minutes"), and a whole lot of young kids. None of these groups know any concert etiquette
-Me and a friend were followed from the beer stand by an undercover, who proceeded to check our IDs. I found that more funny than anything.
-Grace Potter (from the pit) and Cee Lo sets were fantastic, and probably the highlights of my day.
-Once we left cee lo and headed back to the main venue, it became apparent that they oversold the shit out of this festival. Reviews today say there were about 50k people there, up from 40k last year. I don't want to complain because, well, it was free, but that's just too many people for this venue. The crowd in the field for TVOTR/Black keys completely dwarfed (from what I remember) the LCD soundsystem headlining set from last year. Concession lines were 45+ minutes long. Again, though, I reminded myself that it was free and didn't let it stop me from having a good time, but I hope they either scale it back for next year or find a better way to expand.
-The teddybears are goofy as hell
-Black keys were on their game as usual, and after they finished, I wandered over to ghostland observatory and ended up liking it a lot more than I thought I would. Probably because one of them played a guitar. Also, the "Everyone wants to be the life of the party, but noone wants to clean up the mess" song was fairly appropriate.
-Traffic wasn't bad at all on the way out. Kudos to the organizers for that.
Overall, a great experience, and I intend to make sure I don't have to depend on the kindness of others to snag a ticket next year. I saw a fellow in line hand a ticket to a volunteer and tell them to find someone who needed it. I'm going to make an effort to do that for someone next year.
