Try Kelaroo. If she keeps her PMs, she might have some good ones.

Interesting.
I have to think a minute about this one. I don't want to make the wrong call here and let the townspeople down. I wish our Inspector would have lasted long enough to give us just one name.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
LLL.. said before i was so afraid it was you and SFA and we were done. Then i was afraid I was going down the Quacker road and i was about to be dupped by a great player - and SFA would be out looking for gutter sluts.
Do not mean to be derogatory to Holls. Behavior.. not the person.. However she's way way too smart to be playing dumb. Danced around this a bit before on day two and three but will put it out there. I'm okay being duped by good players. Not by the 'I dont get it players'.
Have put it all out there unfortunately as I learned along the way at the risk of other townies. Stated my concerns in day 3 about Holls and stood by it. Was okay with Jham going... still dont know for sure there, but do think he was mafia and expected to get through to fight the last fight. Holl's comment today about SFA having her back made me 98% comfortable with voting for her as SFA has been saying for a while that Holls was suspicious. Still was worried about the dup but... Then calling LLL out for watching post counts. I did it much less smartly (manually looked at posts) but i looked for who posted that long quiet first weekend as well. Truly thought SFA was mafia because he made an obvious post sat. aft to say "i'm here - where are you" and was all up on the 'noobs' I'll go back and reread after its all over, probably several times. And will watch and try to learn again before even thinking about another try If i am re-invited.
Then your post..
For the absolute first time in this game I am convinced I know one other player is not mafia, and am relieved SFA wont be shut off or looking for gutter sluts.
Absolutely believe based on LLL taking time to vote that you are a townie. If you were mafia, you would have voted Holls, whacked me, and ended the game. Wish I could give you the same comfortable feeling. I doubt i can but will respond to any questions that might help. (Tomorrow)
Only thing i can think to offer LLL is reread last night.. It started today at 6 am. Vincristine, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin X 3 weeks X 2. I'll take credit card debt for 3000 Alex.
I am not changing my vote off of Holls. Based on your time to think.. She is the last Mafia.
Going to sleep without dreams of this crazy game for the first time in weeks. Looking forward to going back to being a reader. Cant wait to look back and ... wait for it.. wait,, wait,,, Recall my first game. ;D
PS. I'n RI you can be undeclared and register as a Dem or Reb on the way in to vote, then on the way out you can un-reg. We are a passive/aggressive state. Not any more for me K Dogg. I'm now officially a progressive. Keep 'learning us' and Forward. Oops.. wrong thread. ;D

So townspeople, my problem is that both FM and Holls have made similar moves throughout the first 2 or 3 rounds, so it is hard to separate them. The possible inspectors voted against them/unlike them both, they have voted the same many times, and this is why they were mentioned so many times by fellow players in the group of possible Mafia.
I figured if Holls voted for me right off, then she was def. Mafia. However, she waited until FM voted for her. Seems like she would want to defend herself against FM and try to convince me to do the same. Instead she votes for me and then gives a rather weak, unconvincing argument for why. If she were trying to win, I would think that she would try a little harder to convince FM to change her vote. So now it seems less defensive and more offensive. As Mafia she should be defending herself.
Meanwhile FM knows I think Holls is suspicous, and so I may very well go along with her. And she has given me the heebie jeebies for some reason for most of the game. Holl's associations are much more convincing. FM's intangibles are fairly convincing. Damn
Well I'm going to go with the tangibles. Sorry if I mess this one up Townies. If I do, it will be good payback from FM on behalf of her man.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

LLL>>>>Holls
Ah, but that's just it: I wasn't trying to defend myself OR trying to win; I'm only trying to get out of this damn game. Mission accomplished!
PS - Yes, FM, I truly WAS that clueless thru the first half...had no quackin' clue how to play or what to do. Hell, it still does not make sense to me. At least it's finally over. Thank you both for putting me out of my misery!
Ohhh, I didn't learn you much. You did fine on your own.
EAP, who's name did you get first??? I want to know if I was right to vote the way I did in round 2 or if I was just lucky as heck.
Thanks for reffing NBF!
So Kdogg, how does that beer bet with me getting dupped by LLL work? You only owe someone a beer when I do fall for her tricks? Nothing happens when I'm right to trust her?

The bet was whether you would never "fall for (her) sweet talking again" as you said in the post-game of Mafia 36. It's there in replies # 527-529. The way I see it, you owe me a beer any/every time you fall for her sweet talking in a game of Mafia.

Jeebus!!! Thank goodness. FM seemed like she was being sly, that's why she gave me the heebies.
Holls, I'm sorry you wanted to just get out. It's supposed to be fun trying to win this game, trying different tactics to pull people out and see how they react to one another and such so that you can identify collusion and inconsistencies with their true personalities. This game got a little rough, but it's all a part of the game. Especially when you are a bad guy and most people think that you are a bad guy.

ugh sorry worst inspector ever. i have played like 15 games and only gotten to be mafia once, but i get to be inspector all the time and i don't like it.
the name i got was holls. the second night i guessed SFA and then the third night i guessed mike d (but they killed me so i couldn't say). in my gut i had a feeling it was those three, hence the last line of my last post.
thank you SFA for finally picking up on that!!
good job townies, sorry the game got so ugly.
i'm in for the next one.

Me too, but I reckon we better straighten out the rules first.
First of all, I would like to note that jhammett did not specifically ask if he could quote an old PM of Mike D's, but instead, asked this:
I was wondering how you would feel about me disclosing strategies that I discussed with MikeD via PM during the mafia 37 game.
I don't know that my answer would have been different if he'd asked about quoting PMs, but I would have given it more thought than I gave what he actually asked me.
Personally, I've given this a lot of thought at this point, and I don't have a problem with being able to post PMs from previous games, but obviously, other people do have a problem with that.
The impression that I get is that the objection people have is to actually posting the PM and not to the general discussion of past strategy. Is that correct?
So, is it that we need a blanket rule that says essentially, "No quoting of Private Messages of any kind for any reason."? While I don't find it necessary, I don't have any objection to such a rule (I just wasn't going to make one up in the middle of the game).
If the problem is discussing past strategy generally, I do have a problem with that. I think we should be able to discuss previous games, and that includes any insight we learned when we were mafia with another player.

I think that we should be able to discuss past strategies.
Were Mike and Sarah really upset about the sharing of the PM, or I wonder if that, in itself, was just a strategy to try to divert attention from the evidence that was mounting against them as Mafia? I thought maybe it was just their strategy, but then things seemed to get a little heated and I couldn't tell if people were playing or being serious.

Comments from a noob.. experience playing with others in prior games seems to be fairly pivotal. Unless you played or read you can't know when folks are out of character, playing different etc. Dame this is a tough game!! Think discussion of prior game play is absolutely fair.
Posting PM's just seems really wrong. Especially as SFA? showed, you can edit, make up. Unless you really are a kitten killler NBF.
Thanks all for a great game..
Holls, sorry for making your ears bleed. I'll send you some band-aids.

Good job guys! I bow to your skills. I will continue to be entertained by you guys when I follow future games.
Poor Mike... he didn't have a chance with me and Holls. I absolutely hate lying thus I'm terrible at it. It's never believable and I know it. It's the reason I hate playing this game (I am entertained by reading it). I'd probably feel differently if I would've been a townsperson in one of my two games. As soon as I got my PM I regretted agreeing to play again. I absolutely hate being mafia.
And poor Holls... she was duped into playing because Mike had her iPad for a few days. She left her inforoo signed it and he signed her up for a game. She really had noooo idea what was going on. The clueless thing was not a sham. She is wicked smart, but I think unless you've followed a few games as they happen it's tough to get much from reading through a complete game.
What are the fucking chances the 3 of us would be mafia together? NBF even said when she sent the PM that people would think she rigged the teams.
For the record I'd like to point out two things. One: we rarely talked strategy during the game. We didn't talk about being quiet players or loud players or anything like what the PM jham posted said. We basically let Mike call the shots and he just let us post whatever we wanted. Maybe if we'd been more organized we would've had a chance (then again probably not lol). We had zero idea who the inspector was.
Two: the delay of the kill the weekend Hollie came up here was not our fault. We sent our kill right away... way before Hollie even decided she was coming up. Yeah, the "party" was planned ahead of time, but Hollie didn't decide to come up til Saturday afternoon. Musta been EAP or NBF holding up the game because it wasn't us. And I'm going by Mike saying he sent the PM... I even had him make SURE he actually sent it because I knew that was going to look suspicious.
Me too, but I reckon we better straighten out the rules first.

Thoughts?
Past mafia strategies are discussed EVERY game (that I've read anyways) so that's obviously not a problem. I had (and still very much do) have a problem with quoting PM's in the game. Hell, I'd have a problem with anyone quoting anyone's PM's anywhere. I think it's plain wrong. Private messages are sent in confidence. PMs can be very candid... they contain things that you would'nt necessarily share in an open forum.
I was PISSED. And how pissed I was had a lot to do with the fact the the PM was from the man I love. It put me very much on the defensive and it made me very uncomfortable. When that happened I wasn't playing mafia anymore. I was playing defend someone I love.
This is a matter of integrity, not rules of some silly internet game. Seems common sense to me to not quote something that someone wrote to you in confidence. Like I said in one of my rants... it would be like secretly taping a phone conversation and then using that against the person later. Yeah, you are supposed to lie and deceive during the game, but that doesn't mean you leave ethics at the door (isn't that why most of the rules exist anyways?). I mostly feel this way because this game happens to take place on inforoo. I've been here for a long time and it hurts me when peoples' actions tarnish the name by doing unscrupulous things.
I'm not mad at Jham (I was, oh yeah, I was, but I'm over it). I'm disappointed in his decision to post that PM.
And poor Holls... She really had noooo idea what was going on. The clueless thing was not a sham. She is wicked smart, but I think unless you've followed a few games as they happen it's tough to get much from reading through a complete game.
BLESS YOU, MY DEAR! I've been trying to reiterate this all along, but noooooobody believed me! Seriously, ask anybody who's partied with me: my dingbat factor increases exponentially with corn in the mix. Hell, last weekend I asked (in front of several Mafia players) "what was the name of the dog in Scooby Doo?" - so yeah, I get kinda ditzy sometimes. I say that to make this shamefully pitiful admission:
I ACTUALLY THOUGHT I WAS A TOWNSPERSON for the first half of the game. No, really! I totally mis-read the PM. I was driving when I got it on my phone, skimmed it and thought, "Oh cool, I get to play; Mike & Sarah are on my team."
Then I couldn't figure out why they were telling me stuff about who was gonna get whacked! It seemed very strange, but then again, it was my first time, so I didn't know any better. Seriously, the damn light did not come on until about 2wks ago when I finally re-read the PM while at work (ahem, SOBER!)
So all those times I swore that I was definitely a townie? I was sure I was!
Thanks for not whacking me until the end so I could get the full game-playing experience! But I'll be watching from the Arcade from now on... one game was enough for me!
ugh sorry worst inspector ever. i have played like 15 games and only gotten to be mafia once, but i get to be inspector all the time and i don't like it.

I think you actual did good. Switching to try and save Scrog and your last post, ended up being the clues that help lead us out of the dark. Strangely you named the 3 mafia in your last post and "scary" Scrog named 3 people he felt were likely townies in one of his lasts. Both of you were correct.
Good job guys! I bow to your skills. I will continue to be entertained by you guys when I follow future games.
Thanks sucka!
Poor Mike... he didn't have a chance with me and Holls. I absolutely hate lying thus I'm terrible at it. It's never believable and I know it. I think it was easier for me to get into the game because I was a townsperson my first couple games. I bet it would be hard to be Mafia your first two times. I don't think your bad at all. I first voted for you simply because of the way the votes lined up, not out of anything you did that looked shady.
I also don't see how you could feel that y'all didn't have a chance. You were close to winning the fastest way the Mafia could possible win. That's pretty pimp.
Maybe you should play again and try it the Holls way. Just don't open your PM.
Past mafia strategies are discussed EVERY game (that I've read anyways) so that's obviously not a problem. I had (and still very much do) have a problem with quoting PM's in the game. I would rather people not quote my PMs either but I'm not so sure that a rule is necessary. Paraphrasing a strategy someone brought up with you is sufficient. Then like everything else in the game, people can take it or leave it. As I demonstrated above with the "PM."People could fudge up the post anyway, so it's not like a verified document or anything.
I would have rather seen the Townies have won without that PM. I think we would have because most of us already had our eyes in the right direction at the time but we can't say that for certain. That kind of taints the victory a little. But just a little.
P.S. Druid, I'm on my way to Ohio. You can change your sig now.
