We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
Lets do this! but first, I am up in RI at Fawnmart's house for NFF this weekend. FM and I have discussed to not talk about it or start voting, so after Tuesday it is on. I am NULL for now and will see Mafia on Tuesday.
I understand the reasoning behind Scrogs first post, but what I don't get is why Fawn would have gone ahead and voted anyways? It could have been a simple misunderstanding. Scrog kept his word on this, but Fawn did not for some reason.
This may be a bit far fetched, but my mind keeps going about it. If they are both mafia and there was an agreement somewhere in some PM's where they decided to wait to vote. I know when I have been mafia with newer or first time players There is quite a bit of discussion on how to play, what to do, etc. Fawn being a first time player could have overlooked this or forgotten about it and voted anyways.
Then I start thinking that maybe they would have done this on purpose. If the two of them are mafia, both being new players, they could have schemed this up and forced a "noob mistake" of sorts, wait to see if anyone catches on or calls em out, then just say it was a mistake. This would encourage/excuse sloppy play and voting for fawn for the rest of the game.
Bottom line, Scrog said they agreed to wait to vote and it was clearly posted. I would assume that Fawn would read that post, along with who has voted for who, then voting up with Hollie to make sure not to stack any votes. Heck, even if there was no such agreement, wouldn't Fawn have at least commented on it?
I have to ask you straight up Fawn, whats up with this?
I would think we should look at these two if we want to add another to the runnoff. Most of us saw last game what Scrog is capable of and combining all that would make me lean towards adding him first. Couldn't tell ya a thing about Fawn, but it would be easier to see in a round or two who Fawn could be teaming up with than Scrog.
I don't know for a fact if Noage is innocent or not, but if I change my vote now from him to Fawn or Scrog it makes me look a little guilty switching from Noage cause he is the one calling for additions, which makes me think its possible he is mafia as well.
All this stuff is jumbled in my head, I hope yall can understand where I am coming from here.

First please see prior posts in 'looking for mafia 38 thread'. Did not want to be playing the game during the visit. It was dragging out getting the final players and I jumped in assuming we would get past the weekend before the game started. Oops.
Prior to the game starting late Friday, we agreed that if the game did start during his New England visit we would absolutely not discuss the game during the visit. That agreement was kept 100%. In the middle of that conversation Quacker called out from the office - "Its started". I readily admit after that I did not hear 'and we will not vote either'. I read that part in Scrog's post along with everyone else.
Right or wrong Mike - Here's what i was thinking... The voting for day 1 appeared to be starting out heavily with partners. Back in Quackers first game - mafia 36?, he did not ask for a partner and had to make a solo vote and put someone in jeopardy right out of the gate. I did not want to be in that situation because I've not seen much of anything in reading Mafia 36 and 37 that you can go on in day one to make ^^ vote. It also appears to haunt that person the rest of the game.
It appeared that the partners that were established/voted were EAP/Sarah, SFA/LLL, Noage/Mike D, and Jhamm voting for Scrog implied they would be partners. Dont know if this is true but I was not going to ask Scrog if Jhamm was his partner or post anything that might tempt a conversation outside of this thread.
So I would like a partner to avoid that solo vote. If I honor the 'and will not vote part' I thought I'd be in exactly the spot I did not want to be in. Jack and Holls appear to be who's left without partners. Gave this some thought. Jack is an experienced player. Holls is a new player. If i ask Jack to be partners I force another new player into the solo vote. If i ask Holls than it seems this leaves an experienced player will the a deciding move. If i just ask for a partner I risk Jack and Holls teaming up and I'm back where i dont want to be.
It did not dawn on me until after Jacks vote that you could actually do a three way 'partner' thing and end up with one vote for everyone.
Anyhow, EAP explained the partners to Holls, and she responded with the partner vote for me. Its now obvious where my vote is going so I posted it rather than delay.
Mike - this is the straight up on what i was thinking might be the right steps to get to play the game past day 1.
Will be rereading the latter votes with fresh eyes in the morning.

We haven't much to go on yet, eh?
Well, the only thing that strikes me as even a little odd is Jham's vote switch from Scrog to Jack. I do realize this was a reciprocal vote, but to me it didn't seem necessary. Basically this is the change he made:
Scrog left to vote & Jack the only one without a vote
to
Scrog left to vote & Scrog the only one without a vote.

Just checking in. Usually I am more quiet about what I am thinking during a game, but I am going to try to be a bit more vocal in this one. I am interested in seeing who Scrog is going to vote for/if there is going to be any changes in voting to give someone two votes.
This and Scrogs post voting for me are making me the most uneasy as of now. Scrogs for two separate reasons, and Noage because he suddenly wants to become more "vocal"? Damned if you do, damned if you don't Noage. Any changes made by a player make me perk my ears a little.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
Fawn is right. Our only discussion about mafia at the house, was to not discuss Mafia and that conversation happened around game time on Friday night. I PM the Ref about returning on Tuesday and I posted my response and to be honest and fairness to Fawn, I do not think we discussed not voting. I was not voting because I did not want to start yet and that was in my head. LLL my vote was to help speed up the game, it had to be someone, and I used the same story/joke from last round. I hear you. I found JHam suspicious when he switched votes off me so quick. I also find Noage being very talkative as strange and what we in the business call a 'tail'. To me, what really sets off 'red flags', hello inspector look here,
Anyone else want to change their vote to get more people into the runoff? Usually the Mafia always escape the first round. Food for thought.
Well, in my opinion if we were to add another it would be Scrog or Fawnmart. Then I start thinking that maybe they would have done this on purpose. If the two of them are mafia, both being new players, they could have schemed this up and forced a "noob mistake" of sorts, wait to see if anyone catches on or calls em out, then just say it was a mistake. My thoughts are, you are digging deep, trying to control the game. Trying to make something out of nothing. I think you went with the ole, 'hey I will vote for one of my own, Noage, Mafia, and that way it will distance us from each other.' I did that with JHam last game, but I waited until the second round, But your Mafia-voting-partner is now in a run off.
I don't know for a fact if Noage is innocent or not, but if I change my vote now from him to Fawn or Scrog it makes me look a little guilty switching from Noage cause he is the one calling for additions, which makes me think its possible he is mafia as well.
Why would you change your vote from Noage or feel the need to explain that. Noage has two votes and is in the run-off, I had no votes(which surprised me) at that time and would need two people to change their vote FM needed one. If you changed you vote from Noage he was no longer in the run-off. I think you would like that, but you are right, it would make you look suspicious, because it would be. Are you going a stay with the ship or change your vote? I say it is a tail, because he looks to be a Mafia Rat.
I also find Noage being very talkative as strange and what we in the business call a 'tail'. I say it is a tail, because he looks to be a Mafia Rat.
I guess the only way to stay un-suspicious in this game is to just keep your head low throughout the whole thing. If you make too many comments then people vote for you. Of course, that is also why the mafia have won every game I have played except one.

There is some truth to this but keeping your head low has caused you to look suspicious in the past. The quote LLL made about "damned if you do, damned if you don't" was an echo of what Bek said about her and Kdogg last game(?). Kdogg for the talking so much and Bek for having a playing style similar to you.
Either way, you being in an early lead makes me less suspicious of you, at this point.

Vote Tally: noage - 3 jhammett - 3 LLL - 1
Votes So Far: noage>>> Mike D >>> jhammett LLL >>> SFA >>> noage SFA >>> LLL Mike D >>> noage Cap'n Jack >>> jhammett Scrog >>> LLL >>> noage Popsicle Sarah >>> jhammett
How quickly it goes from little to go on to everyone looks suspicious in some way.
Jham's vote change was very suspicious as it did seem premature. Mafia manipulation or a towns person defending?
Noage's change in quiet/vocal was declared up front. Encouraging more for the run off can be viewed the same way as above.
Scrog votes for LLL, LLL pulls Noage into the runoff, then Scrog equates Mike D to Noage as both being Mafia. LLL is sitting fairly quietly with one vote.
Of the three, the last is preoccupying my thoughts the most in terms of what's going on with this?

For the record, the 36-hour rule expires at 4:00 a.m. I will not be getting up at 4:00 a.m. to close voting. Barring unforeseen circumstances, I will close it before 8:00 a.m., though.

Interesting tag teaming going on there fawnmart and holls.
It's funny, because my first Mafia game there was pretty healthy discussion about the likeliness of newbie players being Mafia. Every game since has shattered any previous myths. Just sayin'
Also Noage I'm sorry, I love ya, but somehow you and Jhamm manage to make yourselves appear a bit shady every first round. I'm not sure how you do it. However, since it has proven to be your normal behaviour, I guess we should accept it as not at all shady.

I know Need to work on it I guess. I need to just vote and shut up.
I changed my vote for Jack because he voted for me after I had suggested to scrog that we be voting partners. I changed my vote to Jack because I wasn't going to expect scrog to "do the right thing", and I wasn't going to let my fate be decided by everyone else.
I don't understand why everyone finds my vote change to be so suspicious.
NoAge, nothing personal, obviously just returning your vote for me.

The only reason I voted for you to be in the runoff with me was because you changed your vote, so no worries.

Jhamm, actually I was going to vote for Jack when he voted for you, that way we could have a 11 person run-off. So this thing wraps up at 11am our time?
