Its a holiday/playday in RI and we just got in from a beach day. ;D For now, 'til i can catch up and think about the day 1 whack, the long weekend silence.. Fawnmart >> LLL
why whack Jack? He only had 3 post. and 2 of those were in a voting discussion with Jham, and the 3rd post was changing to vote for Noage. Jham is the only one Jack had 'beef' with, but that is not selling me on Jham and Jham voted for Noage. I think Jack was whacked for being quiet. I would have went after a big gun, which could indicate noob leadership in the Mafia ranks or not. Thoughts? Who wants to be in a run-off. I have no problems changing my vote, for now.

Given time to reread with fresh eyes and let the mind spin in a 1000 directions, there seems to be several possible angles on the "Jack Whack". Night 1 lasting for'eva seems much more strange. Having a hard time rationalizing that this was not intentional, and therefore was part of the Mafia strategy.
While I realize that Inspector and Mafia had the option to wait until today, they did not have to. So someone may have been stalling the game for one reason or another.
This ^^^ - question is why.
Scrog - to answer your question, No thanks, I dont want to be in a runoff. However I would like to see this one expanded.

What are the "several possible angles on the 'Jack Whack'"? So you think the long delay was intentional?

"Why?" is a good question. you bring it up, I have said Noob mistake, poor leadership, FM, Why do you think there was a long delay?

FawnMart>> LLL >>> Scrog
Well this is interesting. You had no votes at the time and you decide to put me in the run-off, well bring it on, the water is fine, a matter of fact, I know you "dont want to be in a runoff", but I ask you to join us. Hey, EAP if you vote for FM, so will I.
Dont want to screw up trying to quote within quote- to respond to Scrog:
The Jack Whack: 1. Make Jham look guilty, though i think his late votes are doing that on their own. 2. Jham is guilty 3. The mafia are Noobs and dont know what they are doing 4. The mafia's strategy is to play like they are the Noobs.
The delay: as said - i can not rationalize that delay without it being game play. If it was just people being away - that would be fairly easy to narrow down suspects by lack of weekend posts. So I am leaning towards the Mafia being primarily experienced players, taking advantage of more than one new player - (And i do not consider you a Noob Scrog), and making it look like - as you have stated - that perhaps the mafia are not experienced players. If the Mafia were Holls, myself, and perhaps one of the quiter players we might well spin ourselves all weekend trying to make a decision. I know I'm a townie so what three combinations are left to make an inexperieced/leaderless mafia group? If you can point out this group I will reconsider my train of thought.
I'm not convinced of any one being Mafia or not at this point. I'm not opposed to Holls being in the runoff as she has been IMO far too quiet even for a first time player. But as stated, I'd like to see some of the key influencers so far this game in runoff discussion. Scrog - I consider you one of these players as you were hell bent after Mike D to start and now seem to be a bit sporadic on your voting.
I knew speaking up would have ramifications and I can haha live with that. Lived to see day 2 as a noob so I've met my personal goal. I'd rather play and take risks now then be part of the shadows. They seem rather crowded right now. Though I'd love to be standing at the end with the victorious townsfolk.
edit to not change original content "and perhaps one of the quiEter players"

I've been quiet to better observe how to play, since I'm still COMPLETELY clueless. This game is neither logical nor fun. Kill me off; I don't care. But I've been quiet not out of sneakiness but general confusion.
So we can change our votes? That's good to know... although I have no idea who I should change it to. I only voted for SFA because he cast his vote for me. ???

Well, we've had two games in a row where a new player has acted like they didn't know what they were doing and turned out to be mafia, so I can't fully trust you or Fawnmart. If you have any question just ask or PM the ref.
Since I tried to talk you into playing and I want you to enjoy it, I'll make you a deal that will benefit us both and ,hopefully, the townspeople as well.
Let's say you are telling the truth and are innocent. I know I'm innocent, so us voting for each other is possible playing right into the mafia's hands. They would love to get more townspeople into this runoff because if they can make it through this round with all 3 of them alive, there is a good chance that they will win (assuming that Noage was innocent which we can't be totally sure of but the odds are in favor of that.)
So basically I'm proposing that the two of us agree to change our votes and put two other players in the runoff?
Deal?
Edit:Clarifying. Sorry, Jham. No whining!

Yes ma'am, you may change your vote as many times as you like, like so: Holls >>> (Person(s) you voted for previously) >>> (Whomever you wish)
Also, the first game is very confusing for all players involved, as is the first game playing as a different role than you have previously. Don't give up on it yet.
Also, let me just say, that my vote for you wasn't because I find you suspicious, it was to see how a few other people would react.
My take on Jack being killed is this: He swooped in at the end of the second runoff and stacked a vote against NoAge. Then he got offed.. Why would he have done this? These are my ideas, ordered by their validity
Exp 1: He was our enlightened one, and NoAge was mafia. He votes for the believed innocent party, so that he can wait and see who votes for NoAge, then, once he has a good idea of who to guess for, he changes his vote to NoAge to eliminate a mafia member. The mafia saw this as being inspector-like, and pulled his card. It is also possible the mafia incorrectly perceived Jack as the inspector. I will say this... in most cases, someone changing their vote at the last minute to save / kill players in the first round, IMO means they have some kind of added knowledge.
Exp 2: Jack was a regular Joe Blow, as was NoAge, and the Mafia killed him to cause confusion, and to cause people to be more suspicious of LLL, who in the situation is also a Joe Blow Jane Blow. In previous games, I definitely noticed a trend of the mafia killing off the survivor of the Day 1 runoff.
Exp 3: Jack and NoAge are regular Joe Blow's, and LLL is once again Mafia.
Exp 4: Jack was a Mafia fall guy. The mafia eliminated one of their own to throw off the townies. In this case, I find it very likely that both NoAge and LLL were / are townies, and the mafia wouldn't dare eliminate one of their own with another already gone, or narrowly survived.

OK, so if you know YOU'RE innocent, and I know I'M innocent (and clueless), then where does that leave us? Since I seriously do.not.know whether I'm being conned or coached, I'll take your deal.
I'm changing my vote...because my gut tells me not to trust the Scrogfather. I could be wrong (probably am, since the rules for this game are clear as mud, still) but if MikeD and Fawnmart have voted against him, then I'll trust their instincts and/or experience. So there ya go. What happens now? ???

holls >>> SFA >>> Scrog
Well, what I wanted was for us to switch to players with 1 vote and put them in a run-off. That forces everyone to vote and creates more chances to connect the pieces. Voting for Scrog could possible kill him off and even if he is Mafia, we won't gain any information this way. The way things were Scrog was already in the Runoff.
Jham/SFA.. your thoughts on the long weekend delay in the Mafia whack? Was it something or nothing?
I'm not sure. I know several players that were busy over the weekend but that doesn't mean they had no excess to the interbutts. Another thing is that it could very well have been the inspector that hadn't turned in a guess, so we might not want to bring up names either way. I will admit that I had some suspicions in this area but I don't think it's clear enough to run with them. I could be wrong.
As to a mafia motive for the hold up, I'm not sure. You might be on the right track. The thing is, if the mafia had a pretty good suspicion of Jack then I don't think they would give him so much time to possible post more.
Also, to clarify. When I used the term newb, it wasn't meant as a bad thing. New players might make mistakes(I still do bonehead things every game!) but I treat them as just as bit of a threat as anyone else. Case in point, Scrog in the last game and LLL in the game were I was Mafia. She busted my butt right off the bat.

I think some of the players being busy the weekend directly had something to do with with stalling. I am also concerned that NoAge or Jack could have been Inspector. NoAge was suddenly going to be vocal? Seems like he could have well been either Mafia or Inspector I guess. But I wonder if our Enlightened one may still be among us. Let's listen.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
