The tri-color is a nice one. I might have put white in the middle to break up the color. But it's simplistic yet unique.
This was the designer’s original statement.
“In navy is the abstract shape of Minnesota. A white northern star represents our state's motto: L'etoile du Nord, meaning “star of the north”, and also represents a symbol of unity above a land of diversity. The three colors on the right signify important aspects to Minnesotan history and culture: the white stripe symbolizes snow; the green stripe represents the beauty of our nature and also the important role agriculture has played in our history; and the light blue stripe represents the significance of water to our state, each as the land of 10,000 lakes, the birth state of the Mississippi River, and the origins of Minnesota’s name –which came from the Dakota language– and translates to “a place of sky-tinted water.” Overall, I wanted the design to be very simple while also symbolizing the various important aspects of our history, cultures, and people.“
The commission went thru a lot of different color combinations from various tri-color, bi-color, etc. and multiple star shapes.

yeah cake is definitely on my list of worst/most disappointing shows. so much drunken banter.
So I had this idea to list the best bands you’ve never seen or only seen once. I started looking at my setlist.fm and there are SO many bands I’ve only seen once. My setlist.fm is like 81 psges, almost 60 is bands I’ve only seen once.

I just checked and I have 513 artists I've only seen once. For reference:
1 time: 513 2 times: 86 3 times: 30 More than 3: 21

ok just heard this hypothetical question on The Watch end of the year pod and thought it was interesting.
You have been hired to be a lighthouse keeper for a year. you will spend that year in solitude. you have no internet, but you can choose one of the following two options:
A) 50 books of your choosing
or
B) all the content of one video streaming service of your choosing, preloaded. so it's just what they have on there right now, no new releases during your year of solitude.
which do you choose? and if it's B what streaming service do you choose?

B for sure. after the writers strike I'm mostly caught up on newer shows so I would probably go with either peacock or paramount plus since they have such a huge back catalog of classic shows.
how do you begin to grapple with the fact that you need to quit your job and move?
Like, yeah I've moved for jobs before but this time it feels so different.
clarifying questions:
1. when you say move do you mean to a different job, different home, or different city altogether?
2. why do you need to quit job/move?
3. what feels different this time?
1. different city entirely.
2. I am absolutely anticipating one of you barging in and telling me my happiness doesn't matter and I should suck it up and deal with it because we're all pessimists here. So forgive me if this feels a little defensive. It is.
Broadly speaking, I hate it here in Atlanta. I hate the fact that it takes me $20 minimum to get anywhere on time, I hate the fact that I feel wildly out of place and unsafe and I hate the fact that the city just doesn't want me here and I don't belong.
Fuckin' hate the workplace too, because it's transphobic. We literally use transphobic dog whistles in our on-screen writing despite the fact that there are TWO trans women in the newsroom, and I'm constantly misgendered despite never presenting as anything other than a woman. We even misgendered a dead person live on air recently. I'm not seen as who I am outside of 3 or 4 people in the newsroom.
I have zero incentive to do well; even when I do everything right I assume I'll get a teams message telling me I did something wrong with no guidance on how to do better.
My boss has zero life and is constantly looking over my shoulder even when he's not "on shift." He'll leave at six but I'll still get teams messages from him at 11. Again, no incentive to do well outside of my own satisfaction.
My boss gives zero shits about me or anyone else on the team as people. He has stated outright that he doesn't care about my mental health, or that of anyone else on the digital team.
When I try to offer suggestions to improve the reporting, I'm more or less laughed in the face and often worse. A reporter once belittled me for having a flashback to a suicide attempt while editing a story.
This place fuckin sucks. I'm at an age, position and industry where moving is arguably the norm, not the exception. I don't want to deal with this if I don't fucking have to.
My trip to New York, at a bare minimum, showed me how I could be doing so much better.
3. I think the biggest thing that feels different is how to handle health insurance if I'm in between jobs.
I love reading but B no question. Also, probably paramount+ because I could survive on the catalogs of Survivor, Big Brother, The Challenge, Amazing Race alone

Like, yeah I've moved for jobs before but this time it feels so different.
I can't speak to the moving part, because I've only moved out of state once and it was for an internship, but I feel like I've benefitted from each job change I've made. Usually when I don't feel appreciated or supported and know I could be happier and healthier elsewhere. I don't think there's a price tag I'd put on my own wellbeing and mental health. Your workplace sounds like a nightmare, especially for a trans woman, and I feel for you. You deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, in any position.

I don’t think it’s Atlanta, I think it’s the people you’re working with. That situation sounds like hell and I don’t blame you for wanting to get out.
