This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
No live debuts but she did play Guardian and Innocent Kind, both of which are allegedly off Masochism. She went on like 2 and a half hrs after doors with no opener but she was great live and really seemed to enjoy performing. only criticism was that she did use a backing vocal track at times
For the lighthouse gig, I'd probably go with the books. But my worry is 50 is too few. But I think I'd pick some good books to learn new skills. A gardening book, some baking and cook books, a beginners carpentry book, a couple books about learning Italian, music theory, meditation. Some hardcore history and philosophy stuff. part of me knows deep down I'd rather have the streaming, but if I went with the books it would force me to spend time doing things I keep saying "if I had the time..." But never get around to.

Definitely! My concert calendar for the first half of 2024 is pretty light so far.
I know that this post is like three years old but that's not gonna stop me.
(Fun game: put it on without finding out what the episode is about and see if you can figure it out before he announces it. It's virtually impossible.)

ok just heard this hypothetical question on The Watch end of the year pod and thought it was interesting.
You have been hired to be a lighthouse keeper for a year. you will spend that year in solitude. you have no internet, but you can choose one of the following two options:
A) 50 books of your choosing
or
B) all the content of one video streaming service of your choosing, preloaded. so it's just what they have on there right now, no new releases during your year of solitude.
which do you choose? and if it's B what streaming service do you choose?
B, Max. Between West Wing, the LOTR trilogy, Doctor Who, Friends, and the Harry Potter movies I could easily kill the year without even watching anything new.
Unless you’re reading skills are as slow as molasses, 50 books would not last a full year. I once read like 40 books over the course of a winter back in my twenty’s.
200 books would be better number and make me think about the decision in more detail.

1. First real Concert – Nine Inch Nails, 1994, Agora Cleveland. Opener: a relatively unknown band called Marilyn Manson. 2. Last Concert – Bonnaroo 2023, or a couple random local bands I can't remember. 3. Worst Concert – Morrissey, 1997(?), Lakewood, OH. I guess he got mad and ended the lifeless performance early. 4. Loudest Concert – Marilyn Manson, 1995, Agora. 5. Best Concert – The Flaming Lips, Bonnaroo 2010 6. Seen The Most – The Black Keys 7. Most Surprising – The Beach Boys, Bonnaroo 2012 8. Happy I Got To See – Tom Petty and Sir Paul, Bonnaroo 2013 9. Wish I Could Have Seen – Morphine, opening for Prince 10. Seeing Next – nothing planned before Bonnaroo 2024
I hope 2024 is kinder than 2023 was. Happy New Year, my friends.
Steeling myself for the most cursed election year of my lifetime, so that’s a handicap, already. But OTHER than that…
I mean I am not hoping for much personally. This was one of the worst financial years of my life, so besides the election and that scariness, I hope that at least financially it will get better. Like please for the love of all that is holy, do not let the Teamsters or IATSE go on strike and further fuck up my work/life/money.
I never used or cared about most Spotify discovery features but one thing I've noticed recently is that its radio features, especially after you play an album, tend to be exceptional. I just played a Julie Byrne album and it's recommending me random Shamir and case/lang/veirs deep cuts I would not have listened to in years but am really enjoying. Sometimes algorithms can work really nicely in your favor!

After an album is done like 90% of the time Spotify just plays me Viagra Boys. Which I don't mind really.

Spotify continues to throw songs that make no sense into my curated playlist. It suggested Crank That (Soulja Boy) and played it between Fleet Foxes and Head and the Heart and I was extremely confused
