speaking of politics, i'm trying an experiment. i generally drink from an absolute firehose of politics content. i took inventory of everything i was consuming and realized i was subscribed to several substacks, several subreddits, and even more podcasts that are mostly political in nature. that's too much politics! even though i mostly feel pretty good i don't think the quantity of politics stuff i've been consuming is emotionally and mentally healthy.
i unsubbed from all my political substacks and podcasts, instead signing up for one general news newsletter that i receive in the morning so i can stay up to speed in a five minute read, then go about my day. we'll see how it goes. i know it felt good just to unsub from all that stuff, like a weight was lifted off my shoulders i didn't even know was there.
I like Ground News a lot and they have some really cheap subscriptions.

for sure, i stopped doing that years ago. i've occasionally popped in since then and am quickly reminded why i bowed out in the first place.

i know we all are well beyond sick of jokes about daft punk surprise sets, daft punk holograms, etc. but i'm listening to them now and their music is so good. for example how is it that i can NEVER get tired of "One More Time". it's repetitive as hell but it always hits. i almost don't want to click on it sometimes because when i do i know i gotta just stop what i'm doing and listen to it and be like wow this music is so good.
After finally realizing that most karaoke is just YouTube based these days, I’ve been obsessed with trying to find the funniest songs you could do karaoke with.

It is crazy that for the big finale of their main set on the Alive 2007 tour they just played three songs that aren’t super popular on top of each other and it totally works! How!
Last year someone got leaked videos from the stage screens of their Wireless and Lollapalooza sets. They’re a little potato quality since it’s 2007 but they’re still incredible to look at. It’s such a shame they never did a concert video of this tour.

honestly this is the only group i would easily spend over $1,000 to see on the ticket alone. they soundtracked my middle and high school years and represented the shift in my music tastes from dadrock to everything else

i love that at lollapalooza 2007 some people made the decision to check out ben harper instead:

At Coachella 2006 some people saw She Wants Revenge. I guess no one knew what kind of set Daft Punk was gonna put on since it was the first show, but still.

Another relic from this era is that this is when Perry Farrell still had enough sway over lollapalooza that his pretty terrible post punk band Satellite Party subbed for them. The show looks fun at least:
PSA if you are going to be stupid enough to throw two bags of trash in our recycling bin in the middle of the night, don't leave a used check with your name and address on it.

Dumb fucks didn't think I would go through it.
please tell me you were kind enough to return their lost stuff!

We have an extra recycling bin so we put it at their front door. YOU ARE WELCOME!

Something kind of random and totally unrelated to anything else going on prompted me to remember today one of the last phrases Abraham Lincoln uttered after being shot, and prior to succumbing to his gunshot wounds. "Damn, bro, I really wish I hadn't been so busy AF with other shit that I waited until yesterday to create the Secret Service." -Honest Abe Lincoln, April 15, 1865
his family wont have to work for generations, cant blame him tbh
Yeah, this. Streams are basically worthless and touring in the modern age is an expensive logistical nightmare that just rides the line of profitability. Get that bag how you can, Kev.
