Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
So now there is talk of Southern beers, eh? Well being a NC native I will have to have an education session. You will definitely want to check out the following from my fair state:
Highland from Asheville Lonerider from Raleigh Triangle from Durham Fullsteam from Durham Duck Rabbit from middle-of-nowhere Foothills from Winston Salem
I'll do us all a favor and bring some growlers of the local Triangle-area beers since most of them do not distribute very far.
ALSO, I have a lot of homebrew sitting around that I need some help with. Hope you all like weizenbock!
I don't think I know any of these, but I loooove me some good craft beer!! ;D Can't wait!!
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Seriously. Asheville has *the.most.kickass* craft beer selection EVER, in local breweries, pubs & even grocery stores. The beer selection at Greenlife (now owned by WholeFoods) will please even the most discriminating beer snobs. (Trust me: I used to pay the bills for that place, so I know their selection is huge!)
I plan to stop there on the way in, stock the cooler & head to the room later. Apparently the hotel check-in time is 2pm, so that leaves plenty of time for a leisurely lunch @ Asheville Pizza & Brewing, Barley's Taproom, or Lexington Avenue Brewery. Or better yet, let's just head over to the Thirsty Monk. Y'all can find me drinking Belgians downstairs.
But since y'all are bringing some local liquid gold, maybe I'll grab a few growlers from the 'Noog. Gotta represent, right?

He likes ciders so there has to be something out there that he likes. You taste test and I'll drink what you don't like
This is the ONLY cider you'll ever want to drink:
JK Scrumpy Cider is the most absolutely, mouth-wateringly awesome cider I've ever tasted. It's all I drink this time of year. It's organic (read: cha-ching) but sooooo worth it!
We really should haunt the Thirsty Monk (www.monkpub.com/) at some point.
It's included in the "Beer City Walking Tour" (www.ashevillebrewscruise.com/calendar/2011-10-28) - they've got tours all weekend. The problem w/the Monk is that their selection is so good (850+ beers tapped in 2011?!? holyhell, y'all!) that I never want to leave!

This should be of interest/help to some of you, especially the Eats and Drinks sections. Every year, the Mtn X does this "Best of WNC" reader poll, and this year's results were announced just weeks ago. www.mountainx.com/bestof#.TqbSit67i2c

Oh I'm not denying that there is a lot of great beer in Asheville, but I'm just increasing the selection by bringing some things from Durham that I am fairly certain won't be available in Asheville.
On a related note, I'm REALLY glad the Downtown Inn is walking distance to everything because there is no way I should be driving if we're going to drink our way through the weekend!
Why are y'all bringing beer from outta state when we're gonna be in BEER CITY, USA?!?

As you said, it's all about representin'. Also, I am pretty sure Marble City is just in Knoxville, Maryville, Sevierville and Gatlinburg now. Also, I'm not sure I will even bring any. It would involve a trip to the beer store and that's a bit of work.
I love Barley's in Knoxville. I've always wanted to see if their Asheville location was as good.

I am so happy that moogfest is bringing some of you guys into town over my birthday weekend. Unfortunately, scheduling conflicts with my shows aren't allowing me to attend MOOG this year. I am playing in my hometown (HICKORY NC) on THURSDAY at a local bar (LAZY DOG) doing a mostly classic rock show. If anyone is interested in attending holla at me! I am sure this will much more rednecky than moogfest, but I just thought I would put it out there.

Oh jeez! I'm up making another tutu, planning out costumes, figuring out which records to bring ( I have one of those cheap Crosley all in ones that make for a great traveler record player). Getting so excited!
I will be in town by around 4pm. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come on up to the mountain and hangout. If people are going to Tobacco, cool to come over after as well, or whoever wants to just stay there all evening and chill. I think we are going to have a get together on Sunday as well, after the shows.
I have the directions to the cabin, I have sent out to a few people so far. PM me and I'll send them to anyone else interested.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

Hahaha Bands from my teenage years. One guy from The Oblivians and another from bands like Soul Side and Rain Like The Sound Of Trains (which means nothing if you don't live in or near DC).
They shaped how I listen to music and on a lesser plane how I viewed the world. Neither are very Moogy.

Gotta join the beer discussion. I've lived in Knoxville and NC, and they both have great beer. I understand that Asheville is the beer capital of the US, and they deserve it, but there are a lot of other great beers from NC and Knoxville. I went to Brewers' Jam this past weekend...wow! www.knoxvillebrewersjam.com/brewers.html
Check out Underground Brewing Company in Knoxville. They had a special beer at BJ that wasn't on their menu- it was called Chocolate Coffee Stout and it tasted like chocolate milk!! My other favorite was the Jalapeno beer from Asheville Brewing Company. But be warned (I say this only as a fair warning, not to be gross), it can give you some smelly gas. ABC also had their Moogfest beer, and it was incredible. There were so many great beers! To whomever posted Marble City, they're awesome! They just opened a new taproom like a week ago by the old city, on Depot St. I have yet to go, but I will be sometime soon, after Moogfest. A few other NC breweries I strongly recommend are Highland (great IPA) , Catawba Valley (even better IPA called Firewater), Duckrabbit (love them all, but stout is my fav), Foothills (loooove Hoppyum IPA and Sexual Chocolate), Lexington Avenue Brewery (in downtown Asheville! love all of their beers), and Natty Greene's (I recommend Wildflower or Old Town Brown).
One I simply can't overrate, though, is Wedge in Asheville. They're located on the east bank of the river, just west of downtown. They have incredible deals, live music, and absolutely great beer. They also have a guy who sells tamales from a cart, including rabbit tamales that are really good. The whole experience there is great, but it can be crowded and cold near the river, so unless you want to squeeze inside, bring a jacket (or go during the day). But definitely hit this place up while you're in Asheville!

It's about on par, honestly. More Asheville beer, but about the same amount overall. But they don't have liquor, which sucks when you want to get drunk for cheap before a show instead of paying inside.

1) You must stalk them, GL. It's the only way 2) Well done, rdk. Hope your lead holds out until 2. Where you going to stay? 3) Rabbit Tamales? Count me in! I have never been to Brewer's Jam but have many friends who are big fans. They sell that thing out every single year.
