Louisville's gorgeous, newly renovated venue, The Ice House, is proud to host the Ice Block Entertainment and Void Acoustics After Party on July 13th. The night will be headlined by world-renowned, earth shattering DJ/Producers Dieselboy and Crizzly, a main stage set from Black Matter, and a second stage rooftop party featuring Jason Shelton and DJ Lady Carol! This is sure to be the late night highlight of the weekend.
We are excited to announce that our friends at Audio Integration Services will be providing and showcasing a full VOID Acoustics system for the event, changing the way you look at sound. **DIESELBOY**
At a time when headline "DJs" shamelessly play pre-programmed or pre-recorded sets and the masses mindlessly embrace the charade, Dieselboy stands out as a rare veteran of the art and craft of live DJing. His focus on creating complex and unique mixes every performance have created legions of fans around the world. Very few artists mix live on three decks with more precision, intensity or finesse. For over two decades one of the world’s great ambassadors of drum ‘n’ bass and more recently dubstep, Dieselboy, also known as Damian Higgins, is America’s most iconic underground bass music curator and pioneer. He was the first drum ‘n’ bass artist to chart a single on Billboard’s dance chart with “Invid” in 2000, and the first American voted into the UK-based Drum & Bass Arena Top 10 DJs online poll in 2004. He has appeared on magazine covers, been heard on MTV, ESPN and numerous video games, and sponsored by DC Shoes and Pioneer Pro DJ.
Hailing from San Antonio, Crizzly is one of the few people who have used their creativity to help cultivate and further a style of music. CRUNKSTEP!! Crizzly's fresh take on this musical hybrid will give you something to Nod & Shake to. Prepare yourself to make bad decisions and dance with the person next to you. So, call your favorite gold chain retailer, find out where Xhibit pimps his ride, lower your snap-back just over the eyes and lastly listen to Crizzly.
After being initiated as Sex Cult’s first member, Black Matter opens the door to a new era of dance music. At the dawn of 2011, he combines multiple dance genres to create a sound that is undeniably catchy. He sips moscato, eats birds’ blood, and smokes the future. His swag is always turned on, and when you see him perform, you will understand...
Saturday: brunch, Noonish for those not going to Sound Check. Those at Sound Check can join later in progress, or have their own thing.
Sunday, big brunch with everyone
Sound good? Now, where?
I think that's a great idea so everyone can get together. I'm not that familiar with downtown so I don't know if there is anywhere that will accommodate the larger Sunday crowd or where the best place to meet on Saturday would be. I guess we could always crash the Galt House and have a midday drunken pool party!
Does anyone know if there are mini fridges at galt house? Not the mini fridges full of expensive stuff you have to buy but empty ones.
According to the descriptions, only the SUITES have mini-fridges (NOT the cheaper "deluxe" rooms). It's not clear whether or not they're only for cash items, but sometimes you can empty them and put your own stuff in there (at least while the maids aren't looking). I would definitely call to ask them (if you have a suite).

Thanks! According to yelp you're totally right and there seems to be a world of difference between the suites and regular rooms. Whatever, I'll bring an extra ice chest for sandwich stuff.
We were planning on bringing bikes with us to explore the area some. This is probably wishful thinking on our parts and I'm wondering if it'll be worse the hassle. If we don't bring them we'll wish we had. And if we do I'll be annoyed with dealing with them.
It's a great city to bike around. Especially if you head down to the Highlands (semi close to downtown) or the East Market district (very close to downtown). There are lots of cool shops and places to eat and art galleries and things like that. But I think if you're only going to be there Fri-Sun it may be more of a hassle, as you'd need to spend at least a couple hours if you wanted to do anything besides just ride around in the area around the Galt House and Waterfront.

We're coming in Thurs. And I just realized we have a 3 night package. I guess it's good that I noticed this now...
Me and a crew of 10 or so friends are going to eat brunch (noonish?) at Lynns Paradise Cafe on Saturday if any one is interested. Its a little pricey but by far my favorite place, plus it saves me from having to cook breakfast for a bunch of hung over fools.
Listen to this guy! Lynn's is one of the best breakfast places in town.
I checked out Lynn, only problem it does not look like it is within walking distance of downtown. How about either Doc Crow or Fresh Fire BBQ for Saturday at noon? I will be happy with any other suggestions. I saw another place called Hillbilly tea that has brunch food on Sat and Sun.

I missed this post! I wanted to suggest Lynn's but we'd all have to drive there since it's not anywhere near walking distance from the downtown hotels. I've not had anything at Lynn's that wasn't crazy good. There are a lot of great places along Baxter, Bardstown, and Lexington but it would take a coordinated effort with good directions to get everyone there.

For Saturday or Sunday? We may need to get a count and make reservations. I'm good with carpooling. I can drive and put 4 in my truck since I know where I'm going.

While I would urge every one to check out Lynns at some point, there are a number of alternatives within walking distance from the festival. The NuLu (East Market St area) is a nice upcoming neighborhood with plenty of dining. A quick google search came back with Toast on Market (hella good breakfast) and Garage Bar (which is literally a garage with a bar). I enjoy both places and are within a 20 minute walk to Waterfront Park.
My vote for the Saturday get together is at the Galt House. Simply because it seems like a lot of us are staying there, and it'd be close for all those going to the soundcheck so they could come over afterwards. Just seems easier to me.

I remember it was predicted that it might rain during Paul Simon's Hangout show last year, and that bummed me out. The thought of Graceland on the beach being anything but peaceful and calming was not a good one.
But with most of the bands playing Forecastle (MMJ, Andrew Bird, Wilco, Neko Case, etc.) I just feel like the rain could make the set that much more interesting.

Also, if anyone is interested, the Rivue restaurant at the Galt does have a Sunday brunch buffet. It is 22 bucks though- a little steep. But, it is the only Sunday brunch buffet I could find so I thought I'd just put it out there.
It is the top floor of the Galt and the restaurant is revolving. Spinning restaurant way up in the sky may not be good for those hung-over and afraid of heights, which is what I am/will be on Sunday! Could be fun though.
You guys with 1 work day left are lucky. I have to work until 3pm on Friday but as soon as I get off best believe it's go time.
What time is everyone going in on Friday? The first band that I have to see on Friday is Atlas Sound at 7:15. So if anyone wants to meet up after 3 on Friday that'd be cool.
Last day of work is tomorrow!! Happy dance!! We're leaving at 9 a.m. from Nashville Friday morning...hoping to get in earlier than the 3:00 check in time, so we can get situated and relax before we have to get in line for the gates to open. Did anyone else notice the gates open 30 minutes before the 1st band comes on??? Yeah, that won't be a clusterf*** at all!
