This festival is a joke, how would you pay the same for this as you do for roo?!?!? HA! It's really too bad because the two Rothbury festivals were 2 of the best musical experiences of my life. Really beautiful venue, perfect weather (mid 70's), and some great bands (especially at roth 08). How could they let that die and let electric fukface festival live? Oh the humanity....
It just depends on what your into. SCI, STS9, and Thievery Corporation are some of my favorite bands. The price of tickets for 3 SCI shows, 2 STS9 shows, and 1 Thievery show, would end up pretty close to the price of Electric Forest. Not to mention I would enjoy checking out Gary Clark Jr, Battles, Ghostland Observatory, and Major Lazer all for the first time. This makes it worth the price to me, but I can definitely see why some folks would find it crazy to pay that price if they're not into as many of the acts. I'm interested in what the Rob Garza thing will be like.

Exactly what I thought. 3 SCI shows and 2 STS9 shows = Sold. I think i'm gonna go WET for this one...no real lineup conflicts for me as long as I get to see SCI and STS9. I would happily work at any other time!

This is what I'm thinking. The only ones on there I HAVE TO SEE are SCI, STS9, Thievery corporation. Also, I would think volunteering may be a little more laid back at this fest than at Roo.
Great cycle spectacles shows from tribe.3 SCI and 2GCS tribe shows is almost worth the tix if you are fans but that is still alot. I might have to check this out.

I've always wanted to go, both to Rothbury and EF, until this year. Definitely not my type of lineup. Some good names, but wow. Coincidentally, this is the first year that I can't go. A friend of mine from college is getting married on June 28.
www.workexchangeteam.com/electricforest I just realized after my previous comment that volunteer apps are sorta up (info form up for now but I dont think the full app is up yet)... along with ticket cost refunded to you after doing your shifts, other benefits too I learned from volunteering with WET at Roo, so if this is your type of music and can take an extra day or 2 off, consider it.
Not everyone is into this music so it's ok if you don't like it. Shouldnt put people down for it though... I hate seeing how rude/immature people can be in these types of situations.

Better than last year but still a pretty terrible lineup for me and the fact that they charge people upwards of $200 for that excuse of a lineup is LOL worthy. That's highway robbery.
I agree with a lot of the comments: Better than last year, but I still don't think I'd buy a ticket to it. Thievery, Sanitgold, Ghostland, Major Lazer, Dumpstaphunk on top of STS9 and SCI is nice, though. I have to think a lot of the ticket price is going to the festival grounds. From what I understand from friends who went last year, they deck out the forest and make the place a spectacle.
I really don't think the price is that outrageous. If you don't like the bands then don't go. If you do like the bands, it's not unreasonable. 3 SCI shows+2 sts9+ bassnectar+thievery corporation= well over $250. That's just the top 4.
im going to consider volunteering for this BUT i have reservations, mainly that the heavy influence of electronic acts might bring a not so environmentally friendly crowd-- and the last thing i want to do is clean up after a bunch of suburban chicago club heads who aren't used to picking up after themselves. BUT then again, maybe the ghosts of Rothbury will summon the good nature in all of them, and it won't be so bad. haha

Please, it's the same price as Bonnaroo. Roo had all four of those acts in the last two years, and SCI was booked 8th, which the highest any of them were booked.
I'm not ragging on the festival, but the truth is the truth, fest is overpriced when compared to other similar festivals.
I would never go to that festival with that lineup, just doesnt hit my tastes in music, but I definitely don't see how its overpriced. If you're into it, thats a pretty damn good lineup.

This has nothing to do with taste or whether you like the lineup or not, I don't see how anyone can argue this fest has the same amount of big names, as Roo...
I think it's an improvement over last year, but still too expensive especially with travel and other fees tacked on. Definitely some artists I'd be keen to see though.

Roo also doesn't offer tons of interactive art, hundreds of free hammocks in a beautiful forest which becomes 1000x more amazing at night, or great weather. I also generally don't like about half the acts roo books, but eff I'm hard pressed to find someone I outright can't stand (except Skrillex last year). That being said I expect roo to have one of their best lineups in years for my tastes.
Overpriced is subjective. Granted, I got loyalty tix so only paid 189 for mine, but it seems way more worth it than anything else to me.

It does offer good music though.
Sorry, I had to. Everyone is entitled to their own tastes. I hope you enjoy yourself at Electric Forest this year!
I get that it's the same price as Roo(I'm pretty sure Roo's price raised this year though), but one of the main reasons people go to fests is too see a bunch of bands they like for less than if they went to their shows individually. EF is still providing that for way less than it would be to see all these acts individually so I don't see the issue. If you don't like it don't go...
3 nights of cheese, 2 nights of tribe and 1 very magical forest CAN NOT WAIT! for anybody who's never been to double jj ranch (roth/ef), i HIGHLY recommend going this year.

I'm in for sure! There is also the strong possibility that two other friends will be road-tripping it with me from Texas. Can't wait to reunite with my Buries!

I wish more people were at least talking about this festival, even if they don't like the lineup or think the ticket price isn't justified by the first set of acts. This festival was AWESOME last year and Im not really into EDM or Bluegrass (don't get me started on drumless bluegrass bands). The ticket price is small potatoes compared to what it costs to go to a festival halfway across the country and for me it was worth every penny. It was also my first non-Bonnaroo camping festival and to be honest, I was a little worried about possible sketch-factor. In actuality, it had such good vibes all around, after about 30 min I wanted to kick myself for being so judgemental and WRONG. I urge anyone who is curious about this festival to give it a shot because it is a really unique experience.
3 nights of cheese + 2 nights of tribe + 1 bassnectar (I'm a sucker I know but his shows are fun)+EOTO is already a full weekend of amazing poop and definitely worth the 240 whatever the tickets cost now.
BTW i am kicking myself for missing out on a loyalty ticket
