For some reason this festival makes me feel like cynical Stan in the recent episode of South Park where everything sounds like shit. The site looks amazing and I still regret not going to Rothbury in '09, but last years line up was really weak.
Ya part of the reason I will always shit on this fest is Rothbury 09 was one of the greatest experiences of my life. They had such a good thing going and now they have EFF

EFF was by far my favorite fest this year, after doing waka, roo, EFF, and AG. Decent sized crowd. Everyone was super nice and the grounds put everything else to shame. Never been to a more beautiful fest site(did roth, forest was way better this year). The line up was not nearly as bad as people make it out to be. With insomniac there you knew going in that it would be SCI and djs.

The forest in Smokey Mnt National was way better this year and there wasn't any craptastic techno whomping.
Oh and I didn't realize Smokey Mtn. National forest was a fest. Nor did I see insane amounts of lights or interactive art there.
Again, it was put on in part by insomniac. There is going to be EDM. You don't have to like it, but it's going to be there. I don't see you any of the Electric daisy/Ultra type threads talking shit for no reason. Why here?
I'm sure I hate some music you love and think it's garbage, but you don't see me going out of my way to shit on your musical opinion.
Btw most people I know feel like Roo is pretty far behind other fests in terms of the EDM offerings and this comes from people that don't really care for the genre.

If EDF or Ultra used to be festivals dedicated to music I like and then they suddenly became what they are now I would be talking shit about them too

Oh, I poop on those threads, as well. The Forest is just the perfect place to take a dump.

well, i must disagree with the negative comments, as electric forest was one of the most magical experiences of my life. i met amazing people, partied in a beautiful place, and loved every second of it. I will DEFINITELY be going back in 2012. Here's my set up for the epic year of 2012 actually:
-waka -electric forest -SXSW (its pretty much in my backyard so i can't miss it!) -ALL GOOD and the epicness of epic festivals.......
JAM IN THE DAM!!!! check it - March 14-16 in AMSTERDAM www.jaminthedam.com/ lineup includes mike gordon/moe./lotus/keller williams...

it definitely was on the expensive side, paid almost as much for EFF as i did for Roo, but goddamn is it beautiful and i too was at rothbury 09 and was skeptical about the changes. we're big on edm in michigan so it makes sense. and during the day there was all sorts of great music, cheese plays as the sun goes down and the place starts glowing and then the electronic music takes over, it's a very unique festival experience and it's undeniable that the double jj has some of the best grounds i've ever been too. too much womping going on, fuck it go play some glow in the dark frolf, chill in a hammock, whatever. plus medical corn in michigan is a plus.
it's so hard to forget pain, but it's even harder to remember sweetness. we have no scars to show for happiness. we learn so little from peace. -chuck palahniuk

That should be in their official E.F. infomercial... sucky wub music at inflated prices, but hey, you can eat great candy corn, play glow in the dark frolf and swing from them big twinkly trees.
For anyone who cares, Dadya on the infobury board says the lineup is due out within the next 24 hours... he's *usually* never wrong on that type of thing, either...
Gonna need a good lineup to get me back to the forest.

as someone who went to Rothbury in 09, i have to say the location is superb. The price for EFF, however, not so much. The lineup better back up the price tag, and if it does, i'd go back to the forest in a New York minute. Find out soon enough...

yep, rothbury '09 was sweet. though the lineup/style of music isn't my thing, i would totally go to eff just for the scenery and vibe if the price was more reasonable.
Anyone want to post the lineup here so I can mock it?

This festival is a joke, how would you pay the same for this as you do for roo?!?!? HA! It's really too bad because the two Rothbury festivals were 2 of the best musical experiences of my life. Really beautiful venue, perfect weather (mid 70's), and some great bands (especially at roth 08). How could they let that die and let electric fukface festival live? Oh the humanity....
