Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I'm a seasoned festival vet, been to dozens so I know how to have a good time at them. But honestly the only time I actually enjoyed myself at Waka last year was at Thievery Corp and MMJ. Otherwise you're just sitting at your campsite because there aren't any good bands during the day and there's nothing else to do.
hmmm sounds like you actually don't know how to have fun then....
No joke, I'd presume a "seasoned festival vet" would review the lineup and know what he/she is getting his/herself into before going and later complaining about there being "nothing else to do". Most "seasoned festival vet"s I know go to music festivals to see music acts, and base their attendance on the lineup, rather than rolling the dice on a lineup they're not confident in and hoping there are peripheral activities to entertain them.

I live 40 minutes from the venue so I go regardless, but the lineup sucks this year and they raised prices so I'm going back to Roo. Because it's more fun.
So far its nothing impressive and from the way most of you are talking about it, this wont be a WakaRoo year for me. But I was hoping to do it. oh well
Well part 2 is much better than part 1 but still nothing to great. For those going I highly recommend Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers. One of the best bands from Arizona. Kind of a mix between Bruce Springsteen, Social Distortion, and a Mariachi Band. Not anything ground-breaking musically or lyrically but they do but on a fun show.
I'm happy with the line up so far - but that's just me. Waka isn't going to have the BIG names that 'roo has - that's just a fact - it's a smaller fest and that's what I am looking for after the ginormous crowd at 'roo last year
So far there are plently of shows on this line up that I can't wait to see.
Dirtfoot is an awesome fun band - can't wait to see them again!

Primus, Umphreys X2, Del McCoury, and Toubab is (for me) enough to break even with announcement 1. announcement 3 will have to be what makes this lineup a real winner or not.
I hope you kids have a riot, but for my tastes, the line up is very "been there, done that".
It's pretty much the same lineup as All Good last year, or Summercamp without moe. Not creative at all, which is crazy because last year's lineup blew me away.

Meh. Primus is awesome, but that's about it. I was kind of planning on trying to go this year until I saw this. Maybe I'll try to hit Electric Forest instead.
So many negative-nellies. I'll admit part 1 was mediocre, but part 2 is the shiz! Camping pass bought, event pass next paycheck. I'm officially in!
Ps Main venue camping passes will sell out, so get it now if your thinking about going. There's always eBay if you change your mind.
I'll admit there are some good acts, the problem is there is only 1 good stage at Waka, and it's only good after sundown. Main stage evening-late night is the only good place to see a show. If a band is playing anywhere else I don't even waste my time.
Now, Primus after dark would be awesome, I just hope they don't get screwed.

I disagree about there only being one good stage. The Backwoods stage is a great place to catch a show. Ha Ha Tonka killed it there last year. It was something to see the bass player climbing the rafters. And the tents are well shaded and you can usually find a place to hang a hammock. I only went to the Sunday drum circle there, but Satellite Looked cool as well.
I'm really into several bands on the lineup and love Wakarusa......but I will def be skipping this year. Too many acts I've seen enough times to not feel like I'm missing out. That along with how amazing the weather is during Harvest as opposed to the brutal heat of Waka have made it a fairly easy decision for me. Hope all the folks that go have a blast..I'm sure it won't be hard to do (especially with Primus in an evening time slot at a festival. )

I forgot I missed Ha Ha Tonka last year. Used to hang with those dudes when they were Amsterband. Definitely a great show. I always enjoy that stage at Harvest (same stage, right?), especially in the morning/early afternoon with a bloody mary! Man, I miss Harvest. So chill.
Anyway, it seems I'll be going if the tickets don't sell out before April. It's just a short distance and it'll be a good place to break in my new gear before Bonnaroo. The music should be cool, too.
So how much farther is the walk from west woods camping? I'm thinking about doing Waka this year and might be on a budget so the extra $30 or whatever might come in handy.
I've been to roo 3 times, camp bisco twice, and summer camp for reference. No walk at bisco or camp was bad, but roo can get a little far.

Thats what im going to do. What time does Electric Forest shut down music for the night?!

Pretty Lights killed it a Roo last summer, theres no way to deny that he is on fire right now. I hear and understand a lot of people's comments about how many of the bands have been around and the lineup may seem unoriginal... but thats just names on a piece of paper. Go there, go to the sets and tell me that its not different THERE than HERE ON PAPER. Pretty Lights is going into the studio to record his new album, he just had a great NYE showing and he is just ONE ACT. This year will be my third trip to Mulberry Mountain for Waka, and I couldn't be more excited. Great acts, great place, great friends relaxing and catching amazing shows before heading to Bonnaroo where we have to rush from set to set and pick and choose which one or two of four or five conflicting acts are more important to catch. Both festivals are amazing in their own right and I feel that they each have their place and role. Each year's lineup is going to be different and each set will be different at the festival. I highly recommend making the trip back at the end of May.
Here's PL's video from 'Roo last year... only going to get better.

West woods camping is where its at. Walk is nothing compared to the walk of a bonnaroo BFE camping spot. Also lots of shade trees.....camped west woods last year and it was probably my favorite spot I've camped at waka thus far

No idea. I've never been, but I've always wanted to. I would guess it's like Roo and goes really late.
I just realized I can't go to EF this year. My good friend from college is getting married on June 30. Damn.

Really hoping to make it to Waka this year. Really wanted to go last year but didnt have the funds, Hangout was really expensive including the condo. Missed Bonnaroo last year too for the first time since 2007. Prob miss Roo again because the way its been going. Headliners bring the crowd, and with a headliner like Eminem.... I'll pass. But you never know, AC might bring it. They need to especially after the Coachella lineup. Bonnaroo needs a good old school headliner trying to do a reunion (Sabbath would be great), a jam band headliner, and just a great headliner (Radio Head, Daft Punk, someone who we have been talking about on the boards for years.....) Sorry, got off the subject. Any words of advice for Waka Rookie?
My boyfriend and I will be doing waka for the first time and will be doing our first vip experience. I'm so excited to do a smaller fest, I just really hope the 3rd tier is goooood. The website says the temps are usually in the 80's but I see a lot of people comparing the heat at waka to the heat at roo. My only question....until I think of more.....Do i really need to prepare for roo heat?

From what people are telling me on the Waka board - Yes, the heat is like roo heat
