My boyfriend and I will be doing waka for the first time and will be doing our first vip experience. I'm so excited to do a smaller fest, I just really hope the 3rd tier is goooood. The website says the temps are usually in the 80's but I see a lot of people comparing the heat at waka to the heat at roo. My only question....until I think of more.....Do i really need to prepare for roo heat?
The first year they had it on Mulberry the weather was perfect. Warm during the day and fairly cold at night (I didn't bring sleeves and had to buy a hoodie). The past two years have been really hot, but last year we camped west woods and were able to sleep in the shade through the heat of the day. I'd say be prepared for heat, but bring some clothes for cooler weather at night as well

Is wakarusa VIP really as cool as it sounds on their website? great camping spot, free beer, front row access, food, and wednesday activities. to me that seems to good to be true for 635 bucks.

It looked like it would be well worth the price to me. Everything is under the trees with close access to the showers and of course you get to cut right to the front of the stages. I think beer may be free also.

I would imagine for some shows it would be empty, why not let ppl jump over? thats cool.
it'd be my guess that the free food and beer is by no means premium, but the shaded campground and stage access make me want to pull the trigger on this. i want to try waka to reach out to bands i've never heard of, maybe grow to appreciate new genres of music that i don't appreciate too much right now (like EDM and jam). the disc golf and cliff jumping look awesome too!
what also is appealing to me is the waka crowd seems very down to earth, and its 1/4 the size of bonnaroo. with more space ill feel less claustrophobic and have less anxiety, which is always good. don't get me wrong, my heart still lies with roo though.
if you or anyone else has other VIP knowledge regarding waka that would be super. how are the "lounges" and are the wednesday early arrival activities fun too?

The waterfall is a great experience. Don't miss that. I waited until Sunday to go because there weren't any shows I really wanted to see before 5 that day. Lots of fun to be had jumping off the cliff and hanging out.

Thanks goddess meg! that site was hard to search for me. the threads that I read over there convinced me I really wanna pull the trigger on wakarusa. its all gonna depend on the next round of lineups and then bonnaroo's lineup, because I can't do both.
...I'm afraid i'll goto waka instead of roo, have a great time, then feel extremely guilty id be "cheating" on roo. i love you roo, i promise.

Tomorrow is the third lineup announcement! Still a lot of good upper positioned spots one the bill, #2, 6 & 7 in the top 10 alone! This will be my third year I find it a great segway into Bonnaroo and there are amazing state parks in AR and TN to stay at in between. Seriously a great time and the lineup is already killer and more great bands announced tomorrow. I dream of these two weekends every year! check it out at 11 am CST. www.wakarusa.com

Meh.
Told my buddy to get rid of my tix for this. Very little excites me about this line up. No tribe or lotus and PL and avetts top billing pretty much sealed the deal for me. Looks like a snooze fest.
Well I am stoked! Just listed 17 bands on another forum that get me all giddy. And that's not included more that I am interested in checking out, and before doing any research on unknown bands. Y'all can be as unimpressed as you like. But for my tastes, this lineup is the shiz!

Clarity - I'm with you - I am really happy with this line up. Yes I would have like to see Ben Harper for Franti - BUT we get Primus and Ghostland and G. Love and Chris Robinson will be there - even if he has to share the stage with those two other guys
I'm stoked. Partially for the lineup, partially for the mountain, and mostly because this lineup doesn't look like it'll bring as many sketchy people as last year.

I actually kinda dig this lineup. Avett Brothers, Primus, Tinariwen (x2), Jason Isbell, Heartless Bastards (x2), Futurebirds, Moondoggies, and Wick-it have all got me interested. I've always wanted to go to this festival, might try to make it this year.
mostly because this lineup doesn't look like it'll bring as many sketchy people as last year.
You think a festival headlined by Pretty Lights brings FEWER sketchy people than a festival headlined by MMJ?
That's insane.
This lineup is dog crap by the way, I still can't believe they raised prices and then drop this shit bomb. I live 40 fucking minutes away and I will not spend a single dime supporting this horseshit.
Last year they hyped up the interstellar meltdown thing a lot more which brought the sketchy people. Im not stoked on pretty lights being that high up, but I just feel that there will be less. Time will tell. Regardless avetts, primes, umph x2, bob, g love, and so many more. I'm more than stoked
