Yep, it's me. haha. I've missed a couple years since 08. 2010 and this year, and miss all of you. But I try to stay away because it just depresses me that i cant go to one of the greatest places on earth, and here we are, a forum just for that place. *sigh*
But i have scamp. Everyone's getting all butthurt about JA playing. I dont know why. they already have all the whomp whomp/candy kids they can get. I figure it's just because everyone is wanting the jam bands to be there, which i do as well.... but lets face it, who can deny this rockingness
But im crossing more than just my fingers in hopes that the last artist announcements the release brings WEEN.

Just stay in the Other Tent and The Arcade! We have lots of folks who don't go to Roo but still post... you should be one of them!

Summer Camp is doing their best to deny Flogging Molly was ever added to the bill. I think they got leaked on Facebook and then had to back out before the week was over. They were never posted in any email announcements either.

see, im on a private forum and i have been keeping up to date, editing my first post every time an artist gets added. I have yet to put flogging molly on there.
And i just went through the facebook page, and unless i just completely overlooked it, Flogging Molly was not on there.

3rd artist announcement coming in on Friday, with leaks starting on Tues via F B. Here we go again with the predictions. And I swore these off after that Janes Addiction flop, but thinking a few Reggae acts like SOJA and possibly some Irish themed stuff like Gaelic Storm again. Wouldn't be surprised to see some names from last year like The Ragbirds and 7 Walkers. BUT i'm making zero predictions. Would love to see Lotus but i'm not predicting it. :-)

I'm seriously considering hitting up Scamp this year but also have never been. I gotta be honest, something that's scaring me off is the 'no outside alcohol' rule all over their website. Now, I'm not going to have the shakes all weekend if that's really the case, but I'd certainly miss coming back to my tent and cooler full of icy cold beverages. How does that work?
In my book, the line-up is simply knock down, can't miss, awesome though.

Well i was able to sneak in a fifth of vodka last year, and my friend got a whole case of beer in. It all depends on who is searching through ur gear when u arrive. This year I'm going RV so i will have plenty of places to stash booze. They do sell it inside the festival, but of course there's a markup. I noticed the security gets more and more laxed as the festival gets into day 2,3 etc... there's a Kroger grocery store a quarter mile up the highway with a big booze/beer section. Its usually packed with festy goers. WORSE case scenario u get caught with it, u gotta put in your car. U can always go out to ur car to drink it. But that's just not the same. Lots of people just bring it in from their cars at night too. Its a hassle, but it is what it is.

As I stated earlier, I've never been to SC. But for me, this line-up is frigging ill. In the last year or so I've been on a steady diet of GSBG, moe, and Cornmeal. Lately I've been into Umphrey's and I'm always spinning Dead and Phish. So really, this is can't miss for me as far as the music goes.
Been reading reviews of 2011 and am a bit turned off by what sounds like a Thursday clusterfu#k regarding figuring out where to park, camp, and get bracelets. Not to mention bringing in brews and what-not as well as what I hear amounts to having to drag all your gear for a (literal) mile to get from your car to your campsite. Is VIP any better than GA?
Guess what I'm asking is, am I just reading the whiners and criers? Or this really pretty much the scoop? I'd be curious to hear from anyone who was there last year or previous years. Good vibe? Or is it ruled by nitrous mafia, wooks, and frat boys? Bottom line is that I'm going because at the end of the day it's the music that matters to me and this is pretty much a dream line-up for me... even the JA part . Just trying to figure out what I'm in for.

Thursday was pretty unorganized. A tornado the night before causes everyone to get evacuated. I'm assuming that led to a rocky day. We were directed to parking, but I was parking in GA. I think RV was having more issues. They also charged my $10 to park my car, which I hadn't heard about from people who had been before. We upgraded to VIP when we got there, and later in the weekend, we learned how much closer their parking was to the VIP area. Worried about booze? Going VIP gets you $2 mixed drinks in the lounge, which is fantastic. And you can always leave some at your car, or put liquor in water bottles.
You don't see many fests with a lineup of this caliber, offering a VIP cheaper than any other and so many great perks in it. (preparty pass $30, impossible to get late night ticket $30, poster $20, cheap drinks, shaded camping for alot of people, quick route to main stage, showers, closer parking + more secrets to be learned...)
Truth: Bring a wagon And I don't mean a radio flyer. Nice wide inflated tires are the best. even a dolly with wide tires is better than a childs wagon.
This fest had an amazing vibe. Especially where there was fire being spun.

The already great lineup just got better my friends... Lotus! Yonder! and many more! i'm bringing an RV this year, but went VIP the last two and it was without a doubt worth it. I also brought in plenty of booze, not sure how ppl had trouble getting it in or maybe im just really good at stashing stuff?? The arrival sucked waiting in line to exchange my print pass for a wristband, but that is really the only complaint I had. The VIP bar was very nice, we were doing $4 bombs, cheap draft beer and believe it or not, they do make a nice Bloody Mary in there too. Showers were nice and quick to get in/out of. If you're doing VIP, upgrade soon, last year the people that upgraded at the festival weren't given a late night set of their choice. And late nights are going on sale soon for the general admission campers. Do it! U park super close to the camping in VIP -- its a separate lot. easy to get out of on Monday too.

This is what I was hoping to hear. Bought my tix today with VIP upgrade and Friday late night set (Les Claypool!!) Still can't get over this line-up. In regards to my tastes it's like I picked the line-up myself. So pumped.

Anyone know what sort of weather to generally expect? Obviously, I'm not looking for a forecast but just a general idea. I tried posting this on the Summer Camp proboard but just got a few non-answers like "it rained last year" and "expect anything". So, what like 70's and 80's during the day? What are nighttime temps usually like? 60's? Real humid?

Its safe to assume that you will need shorts and t'shirts during the day (or no shirt at all) and then somethin a lil warmer for the evening. If ur doing a lot of dancing and what not, you will be fine in shorts and t-shirt at night too. And yes, if a storm pops up it could change everything, but for the most part, expect highs in the 70s and low 80s and lows in the 60s at night. As you're getting ready to leave, do a quick extended forecast for Chillicothe and prepare as needed. If rain is in the forecast, bring some boots. It can get muddy in some areas. I threw away a pair of puma's after last year's storm induced mud stomp.

That Summer Camp proboard is d-e-a-d btw.
The temperature is generally mild. It can get hot during the day, but not bonnaroo hot. Rain and mud are an issue all of the time. Last year a storm came in at about 11 am on sunday and we were convinced that a tornado was coming(see summercamp 2011 storm videos on youtube). Tents and wooks( ) were flying through the air and it was honestly very unsettling. They were encouraging everyone to go to the red barn. To me, that looked like a terrible idea, so my friends and I just left. I thought that was a bad idea as I was driving home, but everyone else I talked to later on wished that they would have done the same.
What I'm saying is that weather can make this festival or break it. It has never kept me from going or even considering not going, but plenty of people are influenced either way because of it.
Night time temp is pleasant. There is camping in the woods, so the shade during the day helps, obviously.

A couple more things. If you're like me and HAVE to have sufficient sleep in order to enjoy the whole festival, bring ear plugs and a blind fold of sorts. Some camping spots are very close to stages and most every single one seems to be near a path. Some people can last all weekend on little sleep and nutrition, I cannot even come close.
The summer camp proboard is sooooooo dead!!!! This will be my first year attending and I was looking for some general info. Good thing I can count on you guys. <3
