Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I am not comfortable clicking any waiting period after all we are not selling them guns. And like was said above this is a public forum. I realize it makes us sort through a lot of poop but nuggets of info will turn up in the poop. It might not be the best of all worlds. Multiple threads saying the same thing. But then again the search function on here is not the best thing either. For instance for a couple of years I have been screaming "Bjork"on here. Try dragging up my wish thread from last year. Is there a way we can improve the search function any? I do not know a damn thing about programming hell it was two year before I even started posting videos on here because I was not on enough and found it to difficult. I have since figured it out. What we need is primer/f.a.q. page for newbs that pop up during tourist season showing them how to fully set up an account and how to fully utilize the site. I think that will go a long ways towards fixing the problem. Part of that tutorial should be searching to see if there are other threads open rather then start one. I will abstain from this vote as a protest vote I see all reasons why it should be had and agree it is necessary however I have a bad feeling in my stomach about it just on general principal. I am a Libertarian and think that all should be heard however you should not listen to everyone. I am interested to see how this topic goes. I am in favor of a tutorial program.

I think anything over one day seems like we are an exclusive club or something. I'm all down for an exclusive club and all .. I'm just not comfortable on a forum, like KM and lono said, that is public.

What's wrong with exclusivity on a forum? I still do a lot more reading than writing here. I wish more people would do the same. I think fostering a sense of community responsibility that requires looking both ways before you cross the road is just being reasonable. I'm all for restricting posting to a specific newb thread for a while or delaying the ability to post for a week.

Because isn't there a thread named the "Newbie Thread" or something. Like one that encourages people to post on as soon as they sing up? I also like what happened last year. Right around the time of the line up someone went through the old pages and bumped threads that had a lot of useful information in them. I thought that helps a lot too because everything was on the first page.
Also as long as we are talking about creating new threads for things that have already been discussed, why is this such a bad thing after all. I mean, hasn't everything regarding Bonnaroo already been discussed? So, unless there aren't any changes to Bonnaroo then there shouldn't be any new threads? Isn't what all of us veterans are here for? To give more detailed explanations of the inner workings of the farm to people that have never been there before. I personaly don't mind answering questions more than once. Especially if it's about something that I like talking about.

For me personally it's not starting a topic as much as it is the several million that's started at the same time about the same thing. It's usually not a a big deal outside of the TML & That Tent but it gets bad in there .. quick.
ITM (all the mods, actually) does a great job keeping things things limited to one thread. Kudos to you folks.

I think so many of the newbies get or may get scared off by the way some of the old-timers/veteran members treat them. I had 5 people who went to inforoo last year and saw some of the ways newbies were treated and they told me thanks but no thanks. I do like the idea of 24 hours before starting a thread but at the same time, if someone has a question...

I could believe that sometimes our crass internet behavior could turn newbs away, but if you don't have some thick skin you won't survive in the world anyway. And if someone has a question, I think there is a 90% chance it has already been asked and answered (especially as we get closer to lineup day and tickets bein' on sale). If they just looked around a bit they could probably find it. If only our search function worked better! So I'm kinda in favor of a 1-3 day waitin' period. But I think the minimum post count to start a thread could be a better idea. Maybe some 20 posts though instead of 50.

I like the minimum posts before making a thread...but I have also seen it backfire. Sometimes newbies will make tons of inane posts just to hit the threshold quickly to make their own thread. Can get cluttery.

I love the idea of a minimum number of posts before making a thread but cks does have a point. Knowing how some people are that show up here after the beginning of the year it could be a mess.
On Pt I think it is 24 hours to post one week for a thread.
I'd personally prefer to go with the minimum posts but around here I think this may work best. It may force some people into lurking around and finding the answers to their questions before having the ability to start 10 duplicate threads.

It wont stop the trolls but I think it will help with that anyway. I mean good lord I love getting new members as much as the next guy but I can only so politely tell people about Weds night so many times.
I like the idea of a flash page the best. I've been on forums where I've logged in and then I immediately get a message "Administrator has requested you read the following post before continuing" when the board had a serious announcement or they had a new rule or something. we could make all members read a little warning/request not to flood with new threads before reading all relevant faqs?
and as far as the waiting period or min post requirments, i can see the benefit but are noobs really going to be going "damn I can't post for the next three days! oh well, better read every thread in the meantime so when Im allowed to post i know what im talking about!" i dont think as many as we'd like.
