I'm going to throw this out there as food for thought.
My initial thought is Daft Punk. "Another trip to space we wake". Could be referring to their return to touring live. The speckled lad bewitching part would refer to Ron Weasley in Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix. Daft Punk's last live appearance was when Phoenix played at Madison Square Garden. They came out and played a mini set with them as an encore.
Other than that, Rodrigo y Gabriela was considered with last years clue. They have a new album out called Area 52. On it, they revisit songs from previous albums that were stripped down and perform them with an orchestra and different instruments. another trip to space we awake could refer to the revisiting of old songs in a new way. idk about the speckled lad part tho...
While I'm still liking Ghost for this clue, I can't help but keep coming back to Cocoon, just because it fits so well not only with the "speckled lad" and "trip to space" but also "we wake". Maybe Rebirth Brass Band? Rebirth would fit Cocoon and the voodoo/magic connection with New Orleans could hit the "bewitching" part. They're playing a festival in SC on Friday and Saturday, but they could be a Sunday band.

Gary Chardonnay dislikes Wake as a visitation for the dead. So we have to assume a regain consciousness meaning. I'm gonna think this over for a minute...
I immediately thought of the album Hurry Up, We're Dreaming by M83, but I thought they were already ruled out? Maybe think of more albums about space and/or dreaming?

So if the speckled lad isn't Ron Howard, to me that suggests that we need another literal trip to space. Unless the two clues aren't really connected at all. But assuming they ARE, taking Opie out of the picture leaves us with the connection being that both refer to literal trips to space. Apollo 13 in the first case, something else in this case.
I'm still thinking maybe it isn't a coincidence that it was the most headache-inducing clue from last year that they decided to rehash. With the confusion on this one being solved last year, we spent FOREVER on it. And obviously therefore came up with a ton of theories and ideas - so I'm still thinking maybe they ran with one of our wild guesses for this clue. But I can't remember much except for a whole lot of speculation that Laika was the speckled lad. There is a band called Laika with a song called "Tree Witch" but that doesn't seem likely.
I also found this on Wikipedia:
A term employed prior to the Spanish Conquest to denote a ceremonial healer from the Quechua speaking central Peruvian highlands. After the arrival of the European Inquisitors, Catholic priests, began referring to all Quechua magico-religious practitioners by this title, equating the laika with ‘sorcerer’ or ‘witch.’
found this to be interesting: We received this clue on January 31st. On that same day in 1961, a chimp named HAM became the first chimp into outer space by taking a ride on the Mercury-Redstone 2. Later that year, Alan Shepard became the 1st American(2nd human) to enter space. He did so on Mercury-Redstone 3.
Alan Shepard was also commander of Apollo 14. Apollo 13 being the clue from last year, this could be the "another trip to space we wake". or at least another trip to space part.
Ok. No Ron Howard. So now I'm looking at someone's suggestion of Rupert Grint in the Harry Potter series. In one of the movies the "prom" band for Hogwarts was called Wyrd Sisters but was really a supergroup made up of, among other people, Johnny Greenwood and Phil Selway.
Now that we know "wake" is literally waking up, I'm thinking of space movies with characters in cryogenic sleep. Two I came up with were Alien and 2001: A Space Odyssey. You could link the first to Ash, who was a pretty "Paranoid Android" and the second to HAL, which could kind of get you to "OK Computer."
I really hate to link any of these clues to Radiohead because someone links EVERY clue to Radiohead, but this one I'm thinking might merit looking at...
Clue came out Jan 31st. Apollo 14 launched Jan 31st. Ron Howard presented a documentary called "Shadow In the Moon" Apollo 14 astronaut, Edgar Mitchell, was interviewed in that documentary. Edgar Mitchell had a Savikalpa samadhi experience when coming back to earth. (pretty much a state when your spirit gains control of your mind) Savikalpa samadhi can be defined as "holding on to reality with effort"

The second part is a huuuuuuuge stretch. I really doubt the first part of the clue would reference something in a way to make us force a song title out of it. I think it's more likely it's referencing a song/album title directly.
Plus Radiohead is pretty much confirmed anyway, so I doubt they'd be giving clues for them at this point.
I do think cryogenic sleep is a good thought though, any famous albums/songs we can think of named after that?
Ridley Scott's new sci-fi film Prometheus opens in theaters during Bonnaroo. It was recently revealed that the story opens with the crew of a ship waking up from a cryogenic sleep in order to investigate a clue that leads to the origins of humanity.
Massive Attack's song Risingson was used in the movie "Open Your Eyes" a movie about cryonics and waking up from dreams, his life is taken on a "bewitching path" through a virtual reality he thinks is real.

I want to believe this! Massive Attack late night would be mind blowing.
Josh Homme is a ginger not sure how one could tie Queens of the Stoneage to the clue other than the song "burn the witch" maybe but waking in space? i don't know
Well, since it so closely mirrors -- maybe it would be safe to say that this is probably a metal act? And it will be a combination of a Ron Howard character, and a movie directed by him to find the answer? It's a stretch. But I mean, why else re-hash a clue?
Mikael Akerfeldt lead singer of Opeth has collaborated with Steven Wilson, Lead singer of Porcupine Tree as well as the producer for Opeth. The Collaboration is called Storm Corrosion.
Rooin' since '05...(except 2014...worst June of my life!)
"Hey Peter Frampton! Do you like toast too? Yes, as do I. It is warm and crispy, and a perfect place for jelly to lay. Now stay the hell away from me Frampton, I ain’t got sh*t to say to you!"

louis ck is a freckled lad. i doubt its a comedian and have no other logic making this post for the most part useless but I agree with C that Conan or Louis may be big enough to be booked at the same time artists are and could be featured here.
