Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
This lineup is surprisingly good. Between this and Loutallica, Metallica have been really weird lately, and I mean that in the best way possible.
Do you think the bands booked were Metallica's doings or partly because of C3? I keep shaking my head when I look at this, and can't figure out how it happened.

Man, if anyone is considering going to this or already has their ticket but hasn't booked a hotel yet, look at the rates offered through the orion fest website first. The surrounding hotels have way jacked their prices- like 400 a night at some places!- but at least through the orion website, you can get a pretty good discount. We're still looking into the lodging options but I'm just saying the prices are probably only gonna go higher: we're booking soon.

Comparing the acts Metallica invited to play with them for their Filmore shows and recent Lolla/ACL lineups, I'm gonna say this festival is 85% chosen by the three Charlies.
Soul Rebels, The Sword and Suicidal Tendencies were definitely hand-selected by Metallica. Kirk said that they each got to pick acts and that they all have very diverse tastes, but I'm not buying it.
The big question to me is whether we'll see Metallica at the other C3 fests or if this will be an exclusive partnership. With the Sabbath rumors, Metallica seems less likely, but if those rumors are false or if Sabbath is unable to play, I expect to see James, Lars, Kirk, and Rob in Chicago this August.
More or less. A lot of them have played in the past, but I'm sure a few are due to return. It would be nice to have some of the metal acts (not including A7), but Lolla still hasn't fully embraced the heavy stuff. In fact, I fear Orion is C3's way of making money off the latest trend in metal music popularity without bringing it to Grant or Zilker Parks.
I'd be a lot more excited about Sepultura if either of the Cavalera brothers were still involved.
Yeah it would be cool if the Cavalera brothers ended Soulfly and get back with Sepultura again.
I also wanted to post an extra act that was left off. Orion is getting Jim Breuer's Metal Comedy Tour which is fuckin awesome! I'm so looking forward to this fest. ;D I need to get on my hotel arrangements.

Has anyone else seen the muscle car, custom hot rod and motorcycle show they added to orion? Information is on the website for it. It looks pretty sweet! It is a contest as well, if anyone has something they'd like to enter.

I knew I saw this somewhere, interview with Lars, Bonnaroo mention and everything
"An old-school Metallica fan maybe wouldn't expect to see you tour with bands like Gaslight Anthem and Modest Mouse, but that's really cool. What made you go in that direction since the line-up is not typically what we would expect?"
"We’ve been playing festivals in Europe since basically the mid-'80s and so most of these festivals, you know, your Rothskilde and the Readings and the Rocket Wings and all these huge established groups having really, really varied line-ups on it, and, you know, to now obviously in America with Bonnaroo, etc. But we played those festivals in Europe for basically almost every year the last 25 years. The first festival we ever played was in Europe in 1986. Eric Clapton and Phil Collins were [among] the three headline bands so it’s always been about variety and it's always been about diversity and kind of a musical experience that offers a different kind of thing for the fans, where it becomes kind of that people of all different ilks and passions kind of get together and experience lots of stuff that’s different. ... That was kind of the spirit of what we wanted to do, that type of thing together instead of you know, here’s Metallica with, you know, nine hardcore Norwegian metal bands, which may be cool in a different scenario, but this type of thing we wanted to do was more about variety and giving people a sense of discovery — where people might walk away and think something’s really cool, you know?

Personally, I prefer wide diversity when it comes to choosing between festivals, I love metal, but would get bored if it was just 30 Metal bands. I guess I am who they are going for
I agree. I like how they have some variety such as Lucero and Eric Church to give that Southern rock/country appeal. Some indie acts like Arctic Monkeys and Modest Mouse. Besides there is plenty of metal/punk acts to go around. Just look at the Damage Inc. stage along with others.
So far this festival is offering Metal, cars, gambling, and girls. This is the perfect weekend for a guy.
My only conflict is Hot Snakes vs. Cage the Elephant, but I will most likely go with Hot Snakes because 1) probably a lot harder to see and 2) wasn't a huge fan of the last Cage the Elephant album, also The Black Angels vs. Ghost

My personal opinion is Hot Snakes ( I'd say rare but somehow NJ got 2 shows this year) and Ghost. Ghost doesn't tour the States a lot.

Saturday would make a great day trip possibility! Not a Black Album fan, would be sad about missing Black Angels and Charred Walls of the Damned though.
Wooden Ships over Black Tusk and Liturgy over A Place to Busy Strangers? I disagree with you on those, but you're on point with the rest. Also, I'd definitely catch the last half our of Roky Erickson after The Sword is done. Gotdammit, Liturgy pisses me the fucck off. I hate that band.
Probably going at this point. Schedule's looking like
Saturday: Black Tusk -> bit of The Sword -> Roky Erickson -> quacked Up -> The Gaslight Anthem -> Hot Snakes -> Modest Mouse -> Arctic Monkeys -> Metallica -> blackjack
Sunday: Liturgy -> Ghost -> Torche -> nothing I really care to see, but I'll probably go to Eric Church since he's from North Carolina and I don't think I've ever seen a country show (hoping something good fills in that TBA spot, High On Fire anyone?) -> Titus Andronicus -> Metallica

Church is one of my absolute favorite artists, country or not, and puts on an amazing show. To be honest, I think he is closer to rock disguised as country.
Now that those two are officially added to the schedule, i have a question- should i see Baroness on the biggest stage or Wooden Shjips on a small stage? which has a better show, do either tour less than the other?

I've seen Wooden Shjips and they are really good if you're looking for heady, psych-kraut grooves. I haven't seen Baroness, but I've heard nothing but good things. It seems like Baroness tours a tad bit more than Wooden Shjips, but I'd just go with whatever you're in the mood for
