I hate that. You don't put someone on a list of greatest guitarists if they haven't played a guitar. I hate that list with a passion and I don't really have a problem with Skrillex. Just including him in that list is terrible.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
might have already been mentioned here but i could see Shrillex LN What....
I was pushing this possibility a few months ago (I at least think it's more likely than him being in a tent) but with how thin the lineup for Saturday is I think it's much less likely now. Although I guess that cuts both ways, if the lineup is thin LN Saturday, more people will see Skrillex and he'll need a bigger stage. I dunno.

The ignorance in some of the posts in this thread is alarming. :\
Anybody who says that electronic music doesn't have "depth" to it doesn't know what they're talking about. ESPECIALLY some one who says that about deadmau5.
Coming from some one who produces and plays around with sound on his free time, deadmau5's compositions are astounding.
But anyways, on topic:
I'm iffy on seeing skrillex. Honestly, i've been to worse dubstep shows around my city than skirllex so I can't really complain per se. It really just depends on who else is playing at that time.
I'm sure it would be fun, but there are 15+ other artists on the line up that I'm more excited about.

I don't think anyone here is arguing that electronic music as a whole has no depth, just that Skrillex and Deadmau5 don't. They're spot on about Skrillex, but I actually am one of the few on here who give Deadmau5 props for being a fantastic producer, even if I don't really care for his music.

I still wonder how many people could tell the difference between Skrillex and Bassnectar with a blind listening test.

I'm sure they sound wildly different to dubstep aficionados, but they are both equally suicide inducing to my ears.

I personally think skrillex and bassnectar (bassnectar especially) have unique styles who set them apart from most of the genre.
I could understand an argument that most dubstep sounds the same, but these 2 are not good examples. Now if it were datsik vs excision or flux pavilion vs zeds dead I could understand.

It may be just because I have listened to a lot of dubstep but I think most people could tell the difference between many of the producers. I don't know how you could listen to a couple flux songs and a couple zeds dead songs and not hear a difference. (Datsik and Excision on the other hand they do sound alike.) Some do sound very similar but there are many others who do stand out with their own styles. Dubba Jonny, Flux Pavilion, Skrillex, and Gemini are all good examples that most people should be able to tell a difference in.

The key is right in your first sentence. I'd be willing to bet that 9 out of 10 people played a Zeds Dead and then Flux Pavillion song would probably assume it was the same group, or at the very least would be a little bit surprised if you told them it was two totally unassociated acts.
This is not something inherent to dubstep. There are many metal bands that I'm sure people would think were the same people. But it is what it is and you're definitely including some bias in there if you say that "most people should be able to tell the difference" between the acts you listed, all of which are pretty cookie cutter dubstep acts.

I'm tired of the north american dubstep argument. Flux pavilion, dr p, rusko, feed me, cookie monsta, and more djs than I can count all come from the uk and all contribute to the grimey dubstep sound that has been dubbed (no pun intended) as the "north american" thing

I call it that because that's where it's most popular and, to my knowledge, is where the style emerged. Same way that there are probably a lot of non-British producers that would make what most call "uk Dubstep"
I'm shocked that people think Flux Pavilion and Zeds Dead sound alike. Flux Pavilion has a very distinct sound imo. A good sound too. Zeds Dead however falls into that category of "shitty North American dubstep" along with 12th Planet, Excision and Datsik.
UK/Euro dubstep blows the others out of the water. Flux Pavilion, NERO, Knife Party, Rusko, Doctor P, etc.
