I like the Avett Brothers, I really do, but I'm kinda shocked to see them back already. They're basically gonna be playing the same exact set as in 2010. I'll see them again if nothing else is going on.

As Radiospirit said, they'll have a new album out by June. Besides, they vary their setlists a good bit from show to show. I've seen them 7 times since their show in 2010 and not one show has been the same, but they were all awesome.
I'm a newer Avett fan only having discovered them about a year ago but completely immersed myself into their entire catalogue and they are my #1 group right now. I have a hard time explaining it to people but their lyrics and songs really speak to me like no other group has in a really long time. I don't know if it's just the point I'm at in my life or what but they affect me like no other music has in a long time.
We've only been able to see them once but will be seeing them another few times this spring and at Roo of course.
What I love about them is they are so genuine and honest and it really comes across in their lyrics and stage presence. You can tell that they wrote the songs from their heart and they play like that as well.
I'm excited to see them at Roo since it will be a different atmosphere. Now I just have to figure out how to get into the pit for the show. We've never done that before for anyone but I would really like to be there for this.
Should I be expecting a high energy show with songs like "Kick Drum Heart" and "Slight Figure of Speech" or more of a chill, slower paced set, or is it just a mix of both?

It's a mix but from the shows I've seen (I guess 4-5 of them now) they play mostly upbeat stuff. The whole crowd sings along so even on the slower ones it's still high energy. I'm hoping this new album has some yelling or that they bring a little of their punk band into it.

The first live show I went to I had only listened to a little of their music. The guy next to me started talking about how much he loved them. He was a big bald manly man looking dude. He said, "You will see, no matter where you are in life, the Avetts have a song that will speak to you." It's so true.
I've also seen them a bunch of times and while I could probably rank the shows, none of them were less than incredible. I'm seeing them again right before Bonnaroo, can't wait.

I honestly could not have have said this better. I feel the exact same way. +1 for you sir I get you.
I swear I don't know what is it about these guys but they move me like no other music. I'm sitting here watching video after video on YouTube through our Xbox and it's like one song makes me want to jump up and dance like crazy and another makes me want to cry like a baby. I just bought tickets today to see them again this spring, that will be twice before Bonnaroo.
I have a question for you experienced Roo'ers though....what do I have to do to get in the pit for this show? How early do we have to go? Does it depend in what stage they are on? Any tips or tricks would be much appreciated!
I really hope we get to hear that at one of these shows we are going to but I heard it's not played all that often.
Have you seen the video on YouTube of At The Beach? I just came across that one and was blown away by the ending of it. It's by someone named shlewu22 if you want to check it out. That song is one that gets skipped over a lot when I'm listening to their stuff but this live version was awesome!

Yes! I love this song! I don't think I skip over any Avett's songs. The only time I could pass on parts of a song are when Bob sings. : /
