Seeing as how hot the tickets sales seem to be and the threat of possible sold out capacity, I'm starting to think I may need to leave on Wed. now...really didn't want to have to do that.
If any one is going to write "The History of Bonnaroo" it should be Juggs. He has been to the majority of them and would write the most entertaining possible version of it.
Bacon, where is the link to Juggs' letter to new posters?
definitely read it! I think that letter should go out to all us noobs
But as for all the BS that followed afterwards in that thread.. holy wow

people are nuts.
Inforoosters are a very opinionated people. I guarantee you will witness some amazing arguments/discussions here. Main thing is that everyone pretty much likes each other. They just like to argue.

Why leaving on Wednesday? If you have a ticket, you will get in whether you show up Wednesday at 7pm or Sunday at 7pm.
The whole "ticket fiasco" actually will help fuel faster sales don't ya think?
I do actually. This will be our 5th Roo and because of the ticket troubles I have had colleagues (who haven't bought any music since Celine Dion's last CD) asking me about the line up. They say they read about the problem in the local paper.

True, and I know it won't make any difference as to where I end up parking, but I was hoping to grab a spot in tent only.

Yeah, you definitely want to consider going earlier if you're going Tent Only especially since they open it from the second cars start coming in now. Have you checked out the Camp Inforoo thread?

But...I like to fancy myself a psychodelic soldier, and an optimist to boot. So if 8 hours of creeping in a civic pays 96 hours of awesome? OK. I'll accept those wages!

I'm gonna predict March 30. I know a lot of people who have never gone before who are going for the first time. Roo's really taking on a life of its own.
A funny thing is though, if I ask all of my friends who in 2011 went for their first time, they all say they are not interested in this year's lineup and probably won't go.
BUT if I ask anyone who for their first time went in 2009 or 2010, they either already got their ticket or really want to go.
JUST from the people I've talked to IRL, it seems this year's lineup doesn't have as much of an appeal to first-timers and onesies as last year's did. I can make a few suggestions as to why but am curious if anyone else has noticed this, and how this may or may not contribute to a faster/slower sellout.

I am for sure going with four first timers - they have their tickets - and I know another two first timers who are very likely going to go. They appear to be just as excited about what they've heard about Bonnaroo as the lineup itself. It's kind of 50-50 for them. The festival, whether through Rolling Stone articles, Insult the Comic Dog videos, Aziz Ansari comedic bits, word of mouth, etc. appears to have developed a mystique all its own. People want to experience it.
Just something I wonder about frequently: why does Coachella sell out faster than Bonnaroo? Close approximation to major California cities? Weather? Lack of dirtiness which appeals to casuals?
Can't say it's because Bonnaroo has more tickets to sell since Coachella just sold out two weekends so fast.
ya I would say its because Cali is more of a festi friendly State and the weather is also lovely.......I'd say Coachella has more Cali residents than Roo has Tenn residents........percentage wise.......if that makes any sense....lol
This is the very example of the nonsense and arrogance of some regulars on this message board. this is ultra-dorkfest right here
as it states, the "letter to new members" won't be read by many b/c it's nothing more than a long winded sarcastic nerdy diatribe. If you truly want a "disclaimer" have a sticky thread (I guess that's what it's called) on each page and have someone who's not a self-righteous wannabe funny guy write it.
Nobody is going to take that immature drivel and give it any credibility.
It's not a privilege to participate on this message board.
Ahh yes, bought my ticket today. First Bonnaroo, first post, first real festival. I've followed these boards for a while, but these kinda posts really helped be figure out when to get on buyin' it (since I'm tight on funds), so thanks for the help. Glad to be in your company, see y'all there.

That's awesome.
And good luck.
I have to say that by the time I made it to Bonnaroo I had already had 5-6 years of camping music festivals under my belt. When I got ther I thought I was ready. And I was for the most part. But it was still a shock to the system.
Have fun and don't over do it.
I never had websites like this one so I'msure you'll be fine.
You just generalized a group of people that are fans of one kind of music into being more likely to sell something out. Never mind the fact that those same people, generally, are also fans of other types of music. There are no more "ZOMG! (Random EDM Artist) is at ROO! I have to go!!!" types of people than there are for other types of music.
So, YOU may "do this" all day, but you'll be wrong the entire time.
I like EDM music, a lot in some cases, but I also like hip-hop, rock, jam, bluegrass, and so on...
EDM isn't selling out Bonnaroo anymore than Phish, Radiohead, Bon Iver, The Shins, etc. are.

Eh I know alot of people not coming due to the EDM. Most havent heard of sbtrkt or fly lo and don't like Skrillex. I'm pretty sure if you added mau5, nectar, or pretty lights. It would not hurt sells. Daft punk would sell it out. Either way at this point I don't really care about your argument.
