Have not even cleaned the dust out my crevices, but saw March Fourth this past week and we are in for a treat! They are a party and would love for them to have a night set!
additions: Eric Krasno & Chapter 2, Alan Evans Trio and Savi Fernandez Band, plus Artists at Large Pee Wee Ellis, Will Bernard, Freekbass, Jonathan Scales and Michelle Sarah.
Looks like I'll be going for Fri & Sat only.......woooooot schedule looks f'n hetty.
Sunday will be so good though!! Always so classic. Lettuce>NMS and the Orchestra @ Large was great last year. I wish Paul would've brought Marco back though.
Two days at Bear Creek is enough for me to get the wook-flu. I'm all about leaving about 10 or 11am on the Friday. As long as we get there before it gets dark. Driving into Suwannee at night suckkkkkks dickkkkkkk. Spunions jumping out in front of your car every 2 seconds etc
I was planning on taking all of friday off, so we can sleep after work thursday until midnight-1am and leave super early in the morning so we can arrive at Suwannee in the morning so we have time to set up camp and start getting quacked up before the music starts. Wanna go halfsies on a pencil keg of hetti beer?
No reason to get there that early dude. They will make us pay for Thursday until like 9amish on Friday anyways. We're taking the Monday off that week to come back from FFF so I gotta put some hours in at work. I gotta work like 5 hours or so. It's about a 5hr drive, + time change, like ATL except it's a straight shot down i-10 and SoS is right off of i-10. I'll load all of my crap into your car the night before. How much would the keg be? There is no search going into SoS
Music will get going around 2pm ish. Music at Bear Creek will go until sunrise so no need to start that early and blow your load. I dunno about the keg, it's too easy to sneak beer into the concert venue. We'll be camped really close with a large crew so we can just run back to camp. We can just throw some bones at one of my friends we're camping with to set our tents up for us in advance.
Also, it is a much wiser idea to get that drive in during daylight hours, trust me on this I've been to Suwannee many times.
Why is this? I have been to SOSMP many times as well and I would much rather make that drive at night.
If my math is right (5 hours of work, 5 hour drive, time change, bathroom breaks, ect.) it looks like you will be arriving around 5-6pm? To me arriving on Friday night is too late. Anytime you get to a fest at 6pm and after sundown you are gonna have people jumping out in front of your car. We do it in a way to ask, "Where ya been?! We already started! Hurry up and park, because your bright car lights are hurtin' my buzz! ;D ". If I am coming in on Friday, my vote is to get there as early as possible. I think before 8am you are charged ~$25 for camping the night before. Still, I would get there at 8:01am, that way I could get set up and not miss any FUNK, like the Bodos Band, Sugarman 3, March fourth Marching Band, Charles Bradley, especially if I was only there for two days of music and missing Sunday night. WHAT! The Lettuce then Dumpsta on Mushroom stage last year was one of the funking best times, ever! It sucks you have to work Caddy, safe travels and Please stop by the Underwater Short-Cut.
Making the drive in the daytime decreases your statistical probability of having an encounter with Florida's finest, Scrog.
I'm gonna try to leave as early as I can, it's just I can't burn through all my time off from work because I need my PTO to pay me while I am in the Dominican Republic for WSMFP next January!
I say we burn up a whole vacation day friday and leave very early in the morning as Scrog suggested. You can make that day up (and the two days for Primus/FFF7) later in november and/or in december. If we leave around 4 or 5 in the morning and arrive there for lunch, we won't have to afraid of anything.
pffft You have to take off a thursday and friday for Primus and FFF, don't see why you can't take friday for this? I know that you can make up PTO time by working longer on certain days and going in on weekends. so wtf? I didn't pay $150 for 1.25 days worth of music and do not want to set up camp in the dark. I'm leaving friday morning at dawn so I can get 2 full days.

I do not know how you know that or can say that. Maybe it is in your experiences. Maybe there is some statistic to prove that; more people get tickets at night time vs people receiving tickets during the day time. IDK. In my experience, I have always found if I obey the speed limit and obey the traffic laws, I do not have unwanted encounters with "Florida's finest". To me driving at night is faster and less stressful. You do not have all that other traffic to deal with. I do the majority or my driving at night.
while we wait for our schedule.... anyone know of anything fun at swannee? im heading down from tallahassee, any trails worth bringing a bike for anything cool?
I am not sure if there are any trails at SOSMP, (except maybe the "Short-Cut Camp" trail ) there maybe some off site. Either way I would still bring a bike. The river, which has a beach, is a 20 minute walk/5 minute bike ride away. Although it will be cold, it is nice to visit and hang out at. Outside the park, across the highway there is an old fort built around a spring. The "fort" is just rock walls and the spring is somewhat dried up, but again it is still cool to see. It's a 10 minute bike ride and makes a nice day trip.
Bring bikes to the SoS and just cruise around checking everything out. It's the best festi spot in the country imo. The place is so sweet, there is a ton to do. I've been there like 7 times and I haven't seen everything.
Caddy, I agree with you, SOSMP is the best Festi Spot in the country! I will take it over the Farm.*Scrog ducks*
This offer goes out to all. Anybody arriving Thursday or before and want to be creative and help out with a cool project? I have spoke about this many times and will speak more about it many times more, but I am setting up an interactive art project and I might need some help to get everything I have planned done. This would involve hanging decorations, stringing yarn, and other little things. If you have a creative bone or just want to be part of something cool, let me know.
SoSmp has it all! Shaded camping, swimming, trails, disc golf, a natural ampitheater, dining, beehive displays, horseback riding, bat houses (ultimate tracers) a friggin' convienence store on site that is hippie'd out and sells beer at regular prices ..... can't wait to go back!!
Scrog- I'm def gonna make it to your camp for Bear Creek. I camp really close to you at SoS anyways (always on the Lake, was across from Wanneetopia this year) I am just usually in a "Suwannee State of Mind" and forget to visit because I am having too good of a time.

Decent beer at that!!! Even the festi beer is always decent and $4 a glass is a deal in comparison to a lot of fest's prices (HANGOUT)... SOSMP is easily one of the best music venues/festival grounds in the mawfawkin' U.S. of A!!! ;D

Hey, is anyone coming from or through the Jacksonville area to Bear Creek? I'll probably be flying in Wednesday or Thursday, and will need a ride from the airport. I will help with gas of course.
