COUNTERPOINT 2-DAY MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL TO DEBUT IN ATLANTA, GEORGIA SEPTEMBER 28-29, 2012
Festival Produced By Organizers of Lollapalooza, Camp Bisco, Lights All Night, Austin City Limits Music Festival, and The Echo Project Performer Lineup and Additional Details to be Announced in Coming Weeks
Atlanta, Georgia (April 19, 2012) - C3 Presents and MCP Presents have joined forces to bring CounterPoint, a new two-day music and arts festival, to Atlanta, Georgia this September 28 and 29, 2012. The multi-stage festival with camping options will be held at the location of 2007's The Echo Project, a 350-acre, scenic Chattahoochee river front property just south of metropolitan Atlanta. Partnering with local businesses, restaurants, artists and more, CounterPoint is expanding upon the format of its predecessor with the inclusion of interactive elements throughout the festival grounds. In addition to a stellar music lineup, planned environments include: an arts village, extreme sports demonstrations, a beer garden featuring local breweries, a food truck component, local chefs, and a college football viewing area. Detailed information and performers will be released in the coming weeks.
Produced by C3 Presents (Austin City Limits Music Festival, Lollapalooza) and MCP Presents (Camp Bisco, Lights All Night, The Echo Project), CounterPoint marks the first partnership for the two companies. "As the Southeast’s beacon of culture and diversity, Atlanta is the ideal location to launch CounterPoint." states CounterPoint Co-Producer and MCP Partner Brett Keber. "We are partnering with local vendors, restaurants, chefs, breweries, artists and musicians in order to create a world-class event that is also uniquely Atlanta."
Located approximately 30 minutes travel time from Downtown Atlanta, Georgia, CounterPoint plans on bringing the city to the pristine festival site. Elements such as preferred viewing areas, VIP table service, multiple VIP levels, and car service will be available. Daily express shuttle service to and from Atlanta as well as day parking will also be offered for those guests not wishing to camp onsite. Ticketing details and travel packages will be announced in the coming weeks. Visit counterpointfestival.com for the most up to date information. Does that mean all beer will be sequestered off into the garden? Because that would be unfortunate. How did beer work at Echo Project? That was before I moved here. I'm also not sure we need extreme sports demos.
Minor quibbles aside...this is excellent news. I will be there unless the lineup is a total miss, which seems unlikely with C3 involved.
Interesting. I'm curious how/if this will conflict with Music Midtown?
This is my concern too. However - I'm SO DOWN for this. I remember when Echo Project blew through, I don't remember why I wouldn't have gone. That was the first year for me going to Roo, so I imagine that Bonnaroo was the only fest on my mind at the time.
if this doesnt conflict with midtown..... PARTY AT MAYO'S!!!! ;D ;D ;D

this may top midtown. the people that put lolla and acl together are involved in this.
Also - I just went to their Twitter - MCP (one of the promoters) thanks Liquified in their first tweet. Liquified is an EDM promoter who's been around since lil' ol' me was raving in the early 00's. Soooo.... my first guess is heavy on the EDM.

OMF GOD!!!! YYYYAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY!!!!!! This news has just seriously made my fucking year! SOO Excited, SOO HAPPY!!! ;D
The Echo Project was the first camp fest I ever went to, and it was amazing. For the past 4+ years I've been dreaming that this would get resurrected in some form. The Farm is beautiful, the river is beautiful! The weather that time of year is perfect! Seriously I'm actually tearing up!

Looks like my quest for a new fest to add to my summer schedule has ended! And only 30 min from my abode!!! When's a lineup or any more details supposed to drop? And did I read that right, camping?!?
Yep, I went to echo back in 07 too and it was a great little festival. The venue was amazing, very easy to get to, not huge crowds. It was in October so the weather was great, much like I imagine it will be in Sept. Definitely will keep this one in mind, though just a couple of weeks later is harvest. If I gotta pick one, it will still be harvest.
I'll be interested to what becomes of this. It's the week after ATP, so I won't be attending but I like to look at line-up's.
Agreed, but I hate when that little festival wook pops up on your shoulder and is like, ”C'mon man! You can make it happen! Just eat nothing but Raumen noodles for the next couple months. Bum rides from people. You can do it!” And you have to fight him off.
Already did that this year with OSL. It sucks missing festivals.
I dont understand camping for a two day festival. Why camp for one night?
^^^truth. However, if they keep the grounds open for the second night, makes total sense for an electronic (likely LN) festival. It's also in BFE GA, so I doubt there's enough hotels around to accomodate that many people.

I've been kicking myself for years for missing Echo seeing that I've never lived outside of GA and, w/ the exception of last year, Music Midtown had long since been dead. Pending the line-up/prices, myself and my Roo crew of two look very likely to be attending this.
