I dont understand camping for a two day festival. Why camp for one night?
^^^truth. However, if they keep the grounds open for the second night, makes total sense for an electronic (likely LN) festival. It's also in BFE GA, so I doubt there's enough hotels around to accomodate that many people.
BFE Ga? Not close. To close to the ATL to be BFE. There will be plenty of hotels for that route. The ATL airport is only like maybe 8 exits up 85.

Okay, so quasi-BFE. Anything southish of Atlanta down 85 (or on 20 west) between 285 and Columbus is BFE to this ITP girl; Fairburn is part of that area.
What I was getting at is that it's not favorable to have a non-camping fest, in a non-metro area; while there are hotels on the interstate, the interstates are at least 8 miles in either direction, on backroads, and driving to a hotel at 2-4am all quacked up isn't favorable - hence, camp for the one night. I'm all for this fest, I'm not knocking it's location or trying to deter people from coming bc it's in "BFE"... most would consider Manchester TN BFE, right? ;D

If memory serves me right the exit for the fest was not too far at all from the I-285 perimeter. From Decatur, just a little NE of Atlanta, it only took us 50 minutes from leaving the apartment before we were parked at our campsite.
As far as the camping for a 2 day fest goes, I have to wonder if they will add some Sunday acts. I imagine the grounds will open on Thursday.

Camping for just one night actually sounds pretty favorable as someone who has a significant other who isn't too fond of the inescapable nature of camping festivals. I'll be keeping an eye out on this one.
This has all the makings to be awesome. I just hope they bring it with the lineup. And I am glad there will now be an alternative to Music Midtown in Atlanta.
Music Midtown *September 22, 2012(*Projected Dates) Atlanta, Georgia The Honorable Mayor Kasim Reed, City of Atlanta and Live Nation’s Peter Conlon are thrilled to announce the return of Music Midtown to the Meadow at Piedmont Park.

Well, Manchester is a little BFE. And I get the ITP mentality, everything north of Kennesaw and south of College Park is BFE to ya'll My girl feels the same way. I have high hopes for this fest.

Y'all, I am really hoping to make it to both fests - Midtown and this one. I LOVE that Atlanta is bringing back some larger music events, and if they're both in September, fine, I'll just add September to the "months I can't be bothered with anything other than my music" months... you know with June. ;D

To call Manchester BFE is a little ridiculous. We have over 1200 hotel rooms in Manchester. We are 60 miles from Nashville, 60 miles Chattanooga, 30 miles from Murfreesboro. We have one of the most technologically advanced Air Force Bases in the world. We have an extremely high collection of Scientists and Engineers (Only Oak Ridge has more in TN).
I could keep going. Manchester is small, we are rural, we are hick/redneck, but are certainly ARE NOT BFE!

As for this festival. I'm glad we're getting a big one in addition to Music Midtown. But I think I'm gonna sit this one out. Not too big on the whole EDM scene.

Roofan, I never meant any harm! A large chunk of my heart resides in Manchester, I'd never put it down intentionally. I also never meant for this thread to go all "what's BFE/what's not" - I was simply reasoning to Phi why having a camping fest for only one night made sense with regards to this fest, being at this location in GA. That's it! I had no idea that "BFE" had such negative connotations.
I will never call anywhere BFE again.
back on topic now? Matt - I think someone posted before that midtown will be the weekend before this that came from a press release...

You're right. It's Music Midtown Sep. 21-22 and then CounterPoint is the next weekend, Sep. 28-29
Very true. It could also be a smaller scaled Lolla/ACL with half and half EDM and non-EDM music considering who the two production companies that are running the festival are.
edit
Someone posted on the Music Midtown facebook page that the Avett Brothers had Music Midtown - Sept. 21 on their tour page, but then took it down. So it may seem that Atlanta is gonna have back to back two day festivals.
I think we're getting a little carried away with the EDM talk. They haven't explicitly billed themselves as an EDM festival yet.
From their facebook: "Brought to you by the producers of Lollapalooza, ACL Fest, Camp Bisco, Lights All Night and others, CounterPoint will put the hottest names in electronic and dance music on multiple stages in the amazing natural beauty that once hosted 2007's The Echo Project."
