We're considering going to this, although parking will suck. Might just bike there if we can lock up at Park Tavern or something. I haven't been to Music Midtown since 2004 when it was behind the Civic Center & Sci-Trek, so it'll be a cool experience.
I guess Midtown's your only choice if you wanna walk there from a hotel, but there are several to be found. Or you could get a hotel near a MARTA station, take the train to Midtown, and walk to the park from there.
Shows stop at 11. And it's a HARD stop...ATL PD does not mess around with that.
so no after shows thats a little bit of a bummer so when do shows start and would it be better to try to get a room within walking distance
last year we hotwired the Hyatt downtown and took the MARTA. Its surprisingly easy, the only downside is its about a mile walk from the Midtown MARTA station to the entrance of the festival. Not far really but in the crowd it seems to take a while.

Shows start around noon-1pm. There is only street parking at the park and it fills fast, mostly from residents of the area. I parked in a garage about 1/2 mile away, cost me $10 across both days last year. As far as after shows, I'm sure the clubs and bars in midtown will have things going on, but the fest itself ends at 11.
so fairly easy parking that's not to costly sounds good possible after shows sounds good(though me lady goes to bed early) it would have to be something good to get her to stay up gonna wait until I have tickets and gets a little closer to really start looking for rooms plus I might be able to split with people I haven't verified / talked into going yet

cool coolcool
Rooms sell out and get expensive quickly so I would advise booking soon. In the past I have booked a hotel room before even getting my ticket. The Marriott was nice and close but a bit pricey - but we split with 3 people. The Residence Inn on 17th was reasonable price, but a further walk (probably about a 30 minute walk) - we did that the year before. As long as you don't get a non-refundable hotel room then you can always cancel or change it.
guess at the schedule. based on last year, not including 3rd stage.

I was so excited for this, but it looks like I'm not going to get to go after all. My friend is getting married that day; I didn't have it on my calendar because she only sent a "save the date" card and I didn't have a time. I'm really bummed out, this would have made a good extension to Roo. And I love that area of Atlanta. I stayed there for the NCAA finals and it was fantastic.

Hey a few important questions about music midtown!
1. Is there a separate pit for each stage with a line? If not, is it the type of environment where I would need to camp the front of the stage all day to be front for headliners?
2. I know that there is a no smoking rule in the parks. Is this enforced? IE, if I am in the pit can I smoke in relative safety?
3. For Atlanta natives, I have friends I can stay with that live on GT campus, will I get mugged on the walk back at night?

No pit lines. Camp out if you want to be up front.
Not sure about the smoking. But you're probably fine
There will be a lot of people out and a large police presence. Be smart and you'll be fine.

Thanks babe. See you there?
Also, I'm buying just a Saturday pass. Assuming gates open at noon, what time would you think we should get to the park to be in the front for the afternoon shows? 10, 9 ?

It's pretty easy to get up front for most of the shows (other than the headliners), so I am not sure you would need to be there earlier than the gates opening.... We were on the rail for the Avetts last year, and just walked up there when the previous band were done playing.

Anyone have any clue as to when the daily schedule is usually announced? Was hoping to go both days but looks like me and my gf cant get off work for that Friday so hoping Saturday is stacked(noticed the daily tix prices for Sat. are higher than Fri. so hoping for "better" acts) and just make it down for the day Saturday.
Would love to see any/all of: Cake, Arctic Monkeys, QOTSA, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Imagine Dragons, Kendrick Lamar, Weezer, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Phoenix, The Black Lips.
Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Lips, Weezer, Imagine Dragons, Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys, Capital Cities, Kendrick Lamar, Mona, the Neighbourhood, Reignwolf, Tegan and Sara, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and ZZ Ward.

So my friend just said that she is going to GIVE me a ticket to this to go with her... I can't say no to that!!! Best news I've ever received at 2 in the morning!!! Also, I searched all over and could not find a schedule for either day, am I missing it or do they only have what day each artist and playing with no times?

Saturday: Red Hot Chili Peppers Queens of the Stone Age Imagine Dragons Weezer Kendrick Lamar Arctic Monkeys Yeah Yeah Yeahs Tegan and Sara The Black Lips Reignwolf The Neighbourhood ZZ Ward Mona Capital Cities
Just bought tix for me and the girlfriend to go for just Saturday, but beyond stoked on how stacked the day will be. Really looking forward to seeing Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arctic Monkeys, Queens of the Stonage(Again), Weezer, Kendrick Lamar(which I managed to miss roo this year), The Black Lips!!!, Capital Cities, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Imagine Dragons will be decent shows that the girlfriend will enjoy and I can relax to. Really glad I choose to spend my $ on this instead of Hopscotch this year as the lineup is much more of my style. Hope to see some of the Inforoo crew down in ATL.

Awesome, me too, I am super excited to see the Neighbourhood, and I'm right there with you on the lineup, this fiestas isn't really big but it really fits my kinda music better than a lot of festivals, hope to see you all there!!!

There's a Midtown station that is, I wanna say, a mile or so from the park.
That's plenty close. As long as its a relatively (it's gonna be a bunch of guys and a couple girls) safe walk. Which I'm sure it is.
There will be hordes of people making the walk with you. I suppose the Marta walk is no worse than some of the camp areas to Centeroo, but it's definitely not a "Music Midtown" stop.
(This show has special meaning for me. This was the weekend before I got married. After spending the majority of the previous year hectically getting ready for the big day, we got to go out and have some fun one last time as just a normal, non-married couple. The show was at a trucker bar, with all the regulars in attendance, just outside of the city. Turf War and Vivian Girls opened. Bradford Cox did Joey Ramone. Mastodon dudes were swigging beer. All of the people I met over the years because of Black Lips were there. And we hitched a ride back to East Atlanta on shuttle with a blunt smoking driver. It was a fantastic night. Side Note: Check Jared's hair. My wife gave him that haircut.)

Awesome story. I hated being out of town for that show. Did you see them at the Clermont on Valentine's Day? My wife (girlfriend at the time) considered that one a no-brainer when it was announced. One of many ways I knew she was a keeper: she had a blast at a sweaty V-Day show in a notoriously grimy strip club.
