just a bump, had to go to the next page to find this. I really liked the Highland Inn, for Radiohead, and according to google maps is not too far away from this fest. I am thinknig about reserving a room there, any info/suggestions a better hotel?

What deal was that? I'm on there but not sure what to look for. Thanks!!
Yes, I need info/suggestions too. I am really excited about this!
i don't see it now. we all stayed at highland inn earlier this year when we went to see radiohead. for $39? i think. i saw the deal again recently, but it appears to be gone now.
Highland Inn is a nice little hotel that's a ten minute drive from the park. Haven't stayed there, but they have a ballroom from the 1920s in the bottom of the inn where they have punk/indie shows all the time.
^ Highland Inn is indeed a cool little place, aside from the Alice in Wonderland-style bathrooms. (Srsly, they're quite odd.) It's more quaint/borderline hip than any chain, so that's a perk. And when we all (sans GL & Cap'nJack) stayed there for Radiohead, the innkeepers were nice enough to tolerate our late-night patio partying instead of evicting us for all the noise complaints they received. Also a perk.
The fact that they're conveniently located in the hipster Highlands doesn't hurt, either. I may call them this week to see if they expect to have any Half-Off or similar discounts available for MM. You can't beat $39 for a room! But even if they don't, the queen suite rooms are spacious enough that you can easily fit 2 large air mattresses in a room. So if anyone is set on staying there and split the regular price ($110), it would come out cheaper for 4 people (<$30/ea) to split.
CRAP. Nevermind. I just checked their reservations; the only thing available for Saturday 9.22 is a single for $89/nt; max occupancy (due to broom closet size): 2.
we have 2 tickets to sell for music midtown. we had already bought 2, then we won 2. i would like to sell these this week if possible to pay for moog tickets. if anyone is interested let me know.

As for lodging, I haven't planned that far ahead yet! Zen lives ~10mins away and has graciously offered to lodge folks. Last year, I split a room w/MikeD & Popsicle Sarah @ the Omni/CNN Center . It wasn't conveniently close, so I'd suggest getting as close to the venue as possible unless you're comfortable taking MARTA. (And walking about 9 blocks to the station, then waiting in the hot station alongside throngs of weary, sweaty festival-goers, then being crammed up beside them in the train. Fun times!)

Sidebar to this for those who've not been to the ATL
1) Marta is safe, esp after a fest. So don't worry about that aspect.
2) The walk to Marta from the park is not bad at all. And if you are mildly intoxicated, the others around you who are WILDLY intoxicated are hysterical to walk with. Much like Bonnaroo, walking around is part of the experience. Also, BARS on the way to stop in and keep drinking.
3a) if you are travelling NORTH on Marta from the midtown station, yes, it's a bit of a pain. Unfortunately, most of the "decent" hotels are north of the midtown stop. 3b) the taxi ride from the park to any of the northbound hotels is minimal, so if you dont want to Marta it home, taxi is a viable option.
4) if you are travelling SOUTH from the midtown station - piiiieeeece of caaaaaake. In fact, last year, me and JHo and a friend got to the station, walked down to the South train, then got onto the first southbound train to 5 Points, then hopped the first eastbound train to Decatur. Home in a jiffy.
5) trying to park anywhere around piedmont park during any kind of event is like trying to find a cool, comfortable chair in hell. It's not possible. if you do find a parking spot, the odds of it being 5+ blocks away is about 99%. And if it's within 5 blocks, the odds of you having a ticket on your car when you get back there after the fest is also about 99%. So you're gonna be walking regardless of marta v. parking.

Once we get a feel of where everyone is staying, I think I can throw out some brunch options. While there are a handful im into, I want to make sure everyone can get there easily on Sunday morning

so, custeph and i may have a distraction that sat. clemson is playing fsu that day. if it is a day game, first of all can we leave the fest and come back in? and secondly is there somewhere really close by that is is a good place to watch college football?

I'll be watching the same headliners, with a BETTER undercard, WITH my toes in the sand at Deluna that same weekend, and NOT be in Atlanta. Sorry, just don't like that city!

^^^Is that a necessary post? Have fun in FL dude, and we'll have a good time in ATL. My apologies if ATL doesn't stack up to the booming metropolis of Pensacola, but there's no need to come in here and bash a fest that you aren't even going to.
