Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I heard around early December that Trey would be at the fest this year, and that Phish would be here next year for the big 5th annual fest party. I didn't quite believe the source who told me at the time, but they are also the same individual who kangfirm'd Stevie for Wronginus so who knows?
Phish on the beach would be a meltdown of epic proportions. Phish phans would buy most of the tickets up, shitt would get weirrrrd in Baldwin County that weekend!
What created the wow for you last year? This lineup blows that one out of the water in my opinion and is their second best effort talent-wise (behind 2011 of course). For once I agree with Blotter on the first year being un-top-able most likely. It was like 12,000 of us had the fest all to ourselves. You could go to the front of the stage at any show, no problem.
And who came up with the Stevie Wonder thing first? Was it Third Man? Wronginus? Whomever it was, congratulations are in order and we now know to trust this person in the future.
Mostly RHCP (who turned out to be the biggest disappointment at the fest), Jack White and the undercard for me last year was better in my opinion. I'm not a very big jam band person or EDM guy at all, and that seems to be what dominates the middle section of this lineup. Sure, there are some great acts on the bill (Super stoked for Public Enemy, Bloc Party and The Breeders), but there's just less of that for me personally this year.
Thank you for explaining why I'm also a bit underwhelmed. If you eliminate the jam and EDM, it doesn't leave much for us rock/indie rock kids.

It's possible, but with this years 30th anniversary there's no way they'd play a fest this year.
Do you all really think Nectar will take the tent? He's too big for a tent IMO...I can't see him anywhere other than one of the big stages...but we'll see. Skrillex did have a tent set, but that was in the middle of the day and he draws arguably a smaller crowd than Nectar. Did you guys see his sold out NYE shows in Nashville? CRAZY.
The tent has been a Hip Hop and EDM tent primarily over the past two years, and Bassnectar played the tent in 2011 at Hangout. So you guys are being serious about Phish next year... Jeez.
If you are an indie fan, you should really check out the bottom half of the lineup. It's stacked.
And I think I might have figured something out. All of the whining on facebook is from the poor folks that Dave Matthews probably brought last year. So this means that they will no longer care after an initial phase of eye-wiping and they won't be at the festival. And that's a big win.
The biggest feather in Hangout's hat for me personally is that there is very little crossover between Hangout bands and other festivals this year. They've booked a ton of bands that aren't doing other festivals.

1. Bassnectar played a tent at Bonnaroo in 2011 as well, but you can be sure he won't be playing a tent there again. This is 2013. I have a hard time seeing him in a tent, but I heard they expanded the tent last year so maybe it will be big enough.
2. Completely agree about the lineup crossover. Being that i'm going to Roo as well, i'm so happy that there's very little crossover...and the crossover that does exist I can check out at Hangout so I can miss their sets at Roo to see someone else. God there's going to be so many conflicts at Roo this year.
The thing I've noticed about the FB page is there are many more likes compared to the negative comments, for the most part. And I think Of Course I'm Wrong made a couple of great points.

Yeah, but the bottom half tends to be scheduled earlier in the day. *shrugs* At least I don't have a reason to tone down my drinking early in the day.
That is an excellent point. The crowd was bro'ed out last year.

Reading the FB page is like watching Honey Boo Boo. You know you're wasting your time, but their ignorance is entertaining.

Skipped the hometown umphreys show to go to this (fight me, haters). shiz was absolutely insane.
I think non-EDM fans don't realize how big and dedicated his following is. Though I would never go on tour with him, I met several people in Nashville who do. The guy has sold out Bridgestone Arena for NYE two years straight and sold out the majority of the shows on his spring tour in an about 30 minutes. Like him or not, he's going to draw a huge crowd and I think he will be closing the Chevy stage on whatever day he plays. It's really unfortunate the fest can't go later into the night. He'd be an awesome 11-12:30/1:00 act on Chevy Stage and his light shows are amongst the nest I've ever seen.

The Chevy Stage was the Surf Style Stage in 2011. The Xbox tent was The Boom Boom Room in 2011. And the Letting Go stage in 2012 was the Grooveshark Stage in 2011.

Last year I was really hoping for some EDM on the beach. I thought Skrillex was big enough to get a beach spot, but instead he was in the tent. My thinking was based on the fact that the 2011 EDM tent was tiny and awful. But when I actually saw the 2012 EDM tent, it was huge, the sound was awesome, plenty of room. Its actually a much better stage than the chevy beach stage in that regard, which suffers from Which stage-type volume issues.
I would still love for them to put Bassnectar on the beach, but I can pretty much guarantee you he will be in that EDM tent.

Adds I'm excited for: Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Imagine Dragons, Big Gigantic, Baauer, Ra Ra Riot, and Stevie (kind of.)
I'm excited for Baauer for two reasons. 1. I think it will be fun to dance with everyone to Harlem Shake if the schedule allows me to. 2. If there is someone else that I want to see playing at the same time he will surly pull away a lot of the kiddos and give me more room. I'm also excited for Stevie. If I have the energy and the time then I'll stay Sunday night for his show. I loved his Bonnaroo show. But I have a long drive ahead of me on Sunday night and I'm working on Monday morning, so I may also dip out a little early since I've already seen him. I could complain about what wasn't added, but I like what was pretty well. These were pretty solid adds for me.

Most EDM/dubstepishstuff is now dead to me, I had a little run and it was fun. Don't get me wrong fest are a good time to throw in a good EDM show at night or whatever.
But...
Bassnectar is on a different level to me and has not gotten old in the slightest bit. I know this may sound ridiculous but he does not consider his stuff "dubstep" and I really dont either. It's just aswesomestep. Him and YYYs are the shows I am most pumped for.
I would say the same for Deadmau5, but that last album was almost unlistenable... and shout out to Zeds Dead for staying good too. IMO.

We kept our condo Monday just so we could rest up and then drive home Tuesday. As much as I love 'roo, I've come to dread the long drive back to Ohio on Monday. It also doesn't help that I usually get no help from my friends, who tend to be up all nighters, even on Sunday at 'roo. I didn't want to see the same thing happen with a longer drive from Hangout, so we got the condo for an extra day.

I tell this to everyone. Hate on Skrillex all you want...but don't ever put Bassnectar in the same category. Anyone who has been to one of his shows knows that his sound is unique, and the shows are hands down the best DJ show in the business IMO. He knows what his fans want to hear. Really bummed he won't be at Roo this year, but pumped to see him at Hangout (again).
Actually, Hangout late-night 2011 was the first time I experienced him live...

I would like to stay the extra day, but that means an extra day off of work. I can use that extra vacation day to go to something like Beale Street or CounterPoint or spend an extra day on vacation with my wife. So I go ahead and come back and save the vacation day. But it is a pretty freaking brutal drive back.

You don't go to festivals till the evening? I mean, there will be days when I don't make it in until 2:00 if I'm not excited about the bands playing cause of too much drinkin the night before, but discovering the new stuff is the best thing about festivals to me. Plus, in 2011, Portugal. The Man played at 11:30AM, which sucked, but it was one of the best shows of the weekend. Different strokes, I suppose.

Not the evening...but I don't want to head to the fest at noon. I like getting there around 3 or 4. The last few lines of the fest are always the noon to 3 slots.
