Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
As a happy resident of Jaffe Jolle, way out yonder in POD 10 almost (a few feet) to POD 11 (which had great showers btw). I appreciated your service, Mr. Festicab.
Our drivers were pretty cool folks. We had the same driver on several trips, a lady from Kansas I believe, and she even gave us tours, of sorts, with a running commentary of points of interest.

First of all I am in total disagreement with the OP. This is a music festival and for my 8 trips @ $5 a pop, I got almost double that in concert attendance time. Festicab is a great value to the music lovers because they get you to the venue 4 times faster.
Also, every driver and fellow rider was friendly and chatty, making the 5 minute trip very enjoyable.

My sandles fell apart and were duct taped together by saturday so i am very grateful that i could utilize the cabby services a couple times. The dust will be there no matter what when you have 100,000 people walking around on drought ridden earth. All part of the experience of Bonnaroo. Good with the the not so good.
I have no problem with any of the golf carts being there. Things need to operate smoothly; wheels are required.
But, I think the drivers should be more cautious and concerning. I have noticed way too many drivers having absolutely no care in the world for those around while cruising the dusty roads. I don't know how we can fix this issue though, unless we bring in traffic mounties to enforce speeding and ignorant driving (jk on that solution)

Having the thousands of oblivious people that wander down the middle of the roads be a little more aware is a good start.

They honk their horns and try to bring attention to themselves (in addition to the loud sounds the cart itself makes). I get annoyed when people walking just ignore them and cars. Get the F outta the way!
Even in major cities, pedestrians have the right away.
Complaining that there will be people in the way of a golf cart at a music festival with 80,000 people (where 95% of the people have probably never made use of the golf carts) is even worse than the OP complaining about the festicabs himself.
And to someone who said to pave the roads, that's actually a very interesting suggestion. What would be the downfalls from doing so? If you're worried about an environmental impact, there's plenty of asphalt that is certified green. I guess it would make for a little more uncomfortable walk for those who choose to go barefoot.
I do appreciate the increased use of sand by Bonnaroo. I definitely think that helps cut down on the dust in Centeroo.

What's worse is people like the entitled a-hole standing in the middle of the lane whose response to an "excuse me" from my driver was "F*ck you. You can just go around." The outright combativeness of a few pedestrians was eye-popping.

Uh, common sense. There is a road that cars drive on, unless there is a massive mob of people, you stick to the sides. If there is a massive mob of people, don't get salty when a guy beeps to get through the mob. Those roads are his only means of getting around.
And I live in one of those major cities you speak of. If I just waltzed down the middle of Fifth Avenue and told the cops it's because I have the "right of way," they are going to laugh at me and then write me a citation for obstructing traffic. Probably disorderly conduct too, since I'd cause a near-accident or seven.
Unless a Festicab was offroading and beeping at people in their campsites, I don't see how you can really get that upset that they beeped at you if you were in the middle of the road.

Blacktop would be scorching hot to walk on during the day and radiate heat after the sun went down for a little while. You ever play basketball on a blacktop in the summer? It's like running around on top of an oven.

I don't get upset with their beeping. Not by any means. I get upset when they verbally berate a sea of people for not moving to the sides of the road quicker. They need to relax; they'll get to their destination soon enough. It's no different than rush hour; you need to be calm and understanding of the situation you are in.
But the thing that ticks me off the most is when there will be a group of people walking on the side of the road (otherwise, an open road), and the golf cart driver will see them, but instead of slowing down to reduce the possibility of hitting a stumbling person or sending clouds of dust in their direction, they keep going at max speed.
Like I said, I'm not here like the OP to say that all non-essential motorized vehicles should be banned, but that these drivers need to better work together with the pedestrians.
There's a reason people don't move for the golf carts. It's because they, like the OP, get sick of the golf carts cruising around at max speed and creating dust. If it was a more friendly environment between the walkers and the cab drivers, everyone would be more respectful of one another.

Sunday night after I left Phish I was walking on the side of the road. in fact, I had one foot in the grass and one of the cabs clipped my elbow. He was all over the place and I kind of wonder if he was intoxicated. It hurt like hell and I got a bruise from it.
Turtles are, actually quite sexy, if you think about it. I’m getting an erection just thinking about turtles. No, not a stripper named turtles, that’s not funny. Actual turtles.

From personal experience, getting behind the wheel of a golf cart automatically makes one drive like an assshole, loaded or not loaded. They're go-carts for adults so the pedal is permanently floored. You can just rip out the limiter so they go twice as fast as they're supposed to and take them off some sweet jumps.
Didn't someone get run over in Centeroo in 2011 while passed out?? Once someone gets killed they'll switch back to wook-driven rickshaws.
On another note, I heard the Festi-Cabs used to take a little more pride in their decorating of said carts. fact or fiction?
Granted, this was my first year, but by observation of my veteran 'Roo companion, he mentioned the carts used to have christmas lights dangling from them and whatnot. I saw one or two, but he said all of them used to be decked out.
We budgeted money to take the cab for a late night or two, but ended up just walking back every time. (Pod 9 was a simple walk)

My understanding is that in previous years taxi drivers would pay a flat fee to rent the taxi for the entire festival.
This year they used a temp agency for the drivers, so perhaps this year they didn't have the same sort of taxi "ownership" as before.

One year my driver had one of those wooden train whistles and let me use it while we drove!!! (I sani-wiped the mouthpiece before I used it fo SHO) It was great fun beeping at all the pedestrians at 3am.

Festi-Cab saved me with an infected toes trying to walk to pod 1. so i'm for it. Unless the medical tent allows to ride people out on golf carts. They say you cant walk anymore, but gotta walk to pod 1 to get your car to go to the hospital, we cant drive you there.
