[Insert Phi quote about not liking pop EDM here
i see 4 pop edm acts, all of which i wont be seeing. but thanks for playing?
So, for those of you heading up for Lolla, imagine these conflicts (roughly based on last year's scheduling):
Friday Aoki vs. NIN (that's a no brainer, Aoki is garbage live) Flux Pavilion vs. Band of Horses Dillon Francis vs. Hot Chip vs. Crystal Castles
Saturday Baauer looks relatively unopposed Dada LIfe vs. Local Natives vs. Matt & Kim
Sunday Knife Party vs. The Cure vs. Phoenix (this would be patently awful) Dog Blood vs. Major Lazer vs. Grizzly Bear (also awful) Kill The Noise looks relatively unopposed

Is Aoki really that terrible live? Iv never bothered going to see him (even though Ive had multiple opportunities), but his live show on the Electric Daisy Carnival Experience looked like fun.

Here is the general rundown of his performance:
Hit play on a track run around the stage Hit play on another track run around the stage Hit play on another track throw a sheet cake at the crowd Hit play on another track run to the balcony and jump onto an inflatable mattress Hit play on another track

snooze.
You forgot the 5 bottles of champagne being sprayed into the crowd.
Basically, Steve Aoki's live sets are just a huge party. Not at all a performance of DJ skills. Thats why all the youngins are attracted to his shows, cause they just wanna go nuts, get showered with champagne, and hopefully hit in the face with a cake.

Datsik opened for him and actually rocked the crowd. He had people moving and going nuts. Aoki was flat out boring. No one wants to hear the same electro track for 6 minutes. No one.
I'm sure it was fun for the kids up front with the fuzzy hats and neon leg warmers.

I've bolded all the "Good" EDM acts Lollapalooza booked this year, IN MY OPINION of course:
Knife Party Steve Aoki Steve Angello Flux Pavilion Major Lazer Dada Life Dillon Francis Disclosure Adventure Club Griz Modestep Baauer MONSTA Alvin Risk Art Department Kill The Noise Robert DeLong Keys n Krates
There are also more EDM acts that I've discovered listening to the playlist, but didnt feel like hunting down and adding.

Knife Party / Steve Angello are solid producers and they COULD bring it.. Or they could play 60mins of cheese brostep/house respectively. Dada Life/Dillon Francis throw a party but neither have impressed me live and wouldn't see at Lolla. MONSTA/Robert DeLong - have never seen... Any recommendations to give them a fair shake?
I was impressed with the electronic music in 2012, but I guess I'm just disappointed with 2013's selection. I know I can chase what I want at other festivals, but Lolla is so convenient for me.

To be fair, Dog Blood being on the lineup is HUGE for me. Boys Noize is one of my favorites live (cannot wait for him on the farm) and I enjoyed the Dog Blood set from UMF.

very interesting video about collaborations on the new Daft Punk album...first in a series
(i've never posted a video before so hopefully this works...)
That's very nice.

How has no one given you sh*t about this list yet? So you think all the EDM is good except the 3 most popular acts? You're like the laziest hipster ever. Major Lazer is excellent (even if his live show is starting to go the Flaming Lips over-saturation route) and you yourself were slobbing over Jah No Partial in the Coachella thread. Baauer? Dance memes aside also pretty decent.
