I'm hoping for "Wonderful Christmastime." It was so ridiculous and amazing when we got a Christmas tune out of the Boss in the middle of June. With any luck, we can make it a headliner tradition.
Just had breakfast at my favorite Beatles themed restaurant, Mean Mr Mustard. All the items on the menu are Beatles themed and there is even Beatles trivial pursuit cards at each table for a little fun before you eat...and of course there is always Beatles music playing

I had a friend trying to tell me that McCartney should retire because he's embarassing himself now because he's so old. The friend referenced the SNL performance he had recently as making him want to throw up and how he was just an old prop who can't do anything anymore. I didn't think to point out that it was the holiday episode right after the mass shooting so maybe the episode was a little different from a typical McCartney musical guest spot. But anyway....anyone know of some recent live videos that show McCartney kicking ass still? Or is he a worthless old man who can't play/sing anymore?

His main complaint was the two soft songs that he played. One was a Christmas song and one was "My Bloody Valentine" but I'm hoping he didn't see the performance with Nirvana since he likely watched it on Hulu. I just was taken by surprise by him completely railing against McCartney and saying he's an embarrassment who shouldn't be singing or playing anymore.

The way I look at it he has over 50 years experience doing this, so you're going to get some variety like that. And really, that's just one song out of about 40 he could end up playing

I don't know that I grant the premise because I thought he was fine on SNL. Also, I think that if your friend has convinced himself that McCartney's done I'm not sure that a random video from YouTube will convince him to change his mind because he has sounded pretty consistent for decades, in my opinion. That said, his preformance at the Sandy Relief concert might be recent enough and solid enough to convince your friend if it's possible.

For an elderly performer (yes Paul, you're old) you'll be pleasantly surprised at how great he sounds (and how much energy he STILL brings). Sure he has off nights but those are few and far between. I thought "Cut Me Some Slack" sounded great. The other two songs performed that night give no insight as to what an ACTUAL Macca show is like (tho he'll probably bore us with "My Valentine", being his most recent single and all). Think it's worth noting that he also performed "Get Back" and "Birthday" for the SNL crowd, off camera. The guy really loves his job and there's no doubt in my mind about it, he'll kill.
Here's one of his gigs from Mexico last year. This is the same tour we'll be getting.

Ouch. Paul has more energy and enthusiasm on stage than many I've seen half his age. He's never been one to run all over the stage or be theatrical, young or old. He just delivers the goods, behind the microphone, behind the piano.
His Jools Holland appearance 2010, these two songs I will be definitely be dancing to, no doubt!

I saw him here in Nashville in 2010. He had plenty of ass kicking left in him. One of the best live performers I have ever seen. And I've seen a lot in my time.
edit* I was going to make some sarcastic comment about the worthless old man bit, but I refrained.

LOL to your friend. Paul can play his ass off better than people half his age.
When I get off work I will link my vids from YouTube of his 2010 show I attended.
I tried to be his third wife. They didn't like me pulling a Yoko on him though. Restraining order will expire before June so I can('t) get as close to the stage as I want.

I saw him at Piedmont Park in Atlanta in August 2009. It was the 45th anniversary of their Shea Stadium show and the 40th anniversary or Woodstock (08/15/09). He did a great tribute to Jimi Hendrix b/c of the Woodstock anniversary. Of course he did Lennon and Harrison tributes, too. This is a playlist I found on YouTube of the majority of the show, which was 3 hours long and lasted through a rainstorm. The videos start with Something, played on a ukulele that Harrison gave to him.
Here's the playlist from the show:
Drive My Car Jet Only Mama Knows Flaming Pie Got to Get You into My Life Let Me Roll It (with 'Foxy Lady' snippet) Highway The Long and Winding Road My Love Blackbird Here Today Dance Tonight Calico Skies Mrs. Vandebilt Eleanor Rigby Sing the Changes Band on the Run Back in the U.S.S.R. I'm Down Something I've Got a Feeling Paperback Writer A Day in the Life (Give Peace a Chance snippet) Let It Be Live and Let Die Hey Jude

That Nashville show in 2010 was one of the best I've ever seen. It's also where all of my dreams came true.
