What happened to the thought of this being on Thursday night? Have they just gotten too popular in the meantime? I was looking forward to this as my big Thursday act.
I see them doing a sundown tent on not Thursday. I'm seeing them tomorrow and will report back. Not that I expect them to be anything less than incredible, but you never know.
I can dig a Thursday night slot, good way to start the fest. I mean, seriously. Tame Impala Thursday night knowing we get to see Wilco and Paul McCartney the next day, and will still have 2 days of stacked shows? Yeah, I can't wrap my head around it either.

I know it isn't an exact science and they blew the f*ck up between lineup drop and the actual fest, but Alabama Shakes were #54 last year and were the biggest Thursday band. A few weeks ago I would've agreed with you on Tame Impala being Thursday but I'm starting to think I definitely underestimated them. Their NA tour starts tonight and the only city they haven't sold out is Tulsa.

Well, that's unfortunate. But good for them. I have no idea how our Thursday is shaping up at this point.
Great show by Tame Impala last night. They're not overly involved with the crowd (think there's some shyness going on there) and they're definitely psychedelic - barefoot playin' with swirling lines and colorful zigzags on a screen in the background for the whole show. But they can play - extended jams on a few of the songs and the band sounds real tight. Set was only about 75 minutes but the whole thing was solid. Someone taller than me reached over my head and basically grabbed the setlist out of my hand. I told him it was a doucheebag move, he agreed and then let me at least get a picture of it. The cutoff piece is Alter Ego and then Half Full Glass of Wine. I'm a tough grader so I'd say a solid B to B+.

Musically it was a great show. They sounded very on top of everything, including when they go off on tangents for jams. Stage setup and interaction with the audience were okay, definitely the weaker points of the show. The good news is they sounded so good that's all I cared about. Will see them again on the farm if there's nothing else too interesting going on, and I certainly won't miss them when they come through DC next time.

In this lighting he almost looks like Tom Petty, especially with that Rickenbacker.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

I've never gotten a setlist before. How does one go about snagging one after a show?

I usually try to flash a crew member, but it doesn't work too well when you're a fairly overweight man.
Pre Tame-Impala (Hopefully LN) meetup/cornfest anyone? Should we start a list, or group? It'd be pretty awesome to see this show with a big group of us.
Walk up to the stage and ask. Typically a crew member will give it to you.
I had a strong hunch it was that easy, but I figured I would just double check. Mission for this Roo: snag one. Preferably this one
Yeah - Jones is right. There are a few helpful hints that can up your chance of getting one - stand by for a future Tactile Tracks article on this exact topic.

I just saw Tame Impala last night. Lordy lord that was hell of a show. I know the setlist above says only two jams in their set, but they easy extended 5 or 6 of their songs. They had a retro looking screen with swirling lines and such following the rhythm behind them. At one point, the lead singer, Kevin Parker, said, "Sorry if my voice sounds like a seal in space..or an otter maybe." At 1st, I thought he was just high as can be saying nutty stuff to the audience. Then someone told me he was referring to being sick with pneumonia. I can't believe his voice sounded so good while recovering from pneumonia! Their sound is tight as can be. DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW
as a sidenote, The Growls who open were also a damn good band. They need to be a cafe act.

The entire band is sick right now or at least that's what they said is Asheville. The bass p,Ayer had to step off stage and throw up a couple of times but it didn't seemnto hold them back at all.

Also agree on The Growls comment - they have a cool bluesy sound and the lead singer is easy on the eyes. Well, Mrs. G's eyes.
