Sang's right. It would be a huge mistake to not have them play a night show. This is a fully formed live act who could easily be playing amphitheaters in no time. They pulled off the songs like a pros and showed a great playful side in between tunes. They seemed to be having fun with audience while they amused themselves by messing around with the venue's sound system. This was my first time at the newly renovated Georgia Theatre and it was very impressive, except you have to go up 4 flights of stairs to the roof (which has a bar, though) to smoke a cigarette. I'm not sure where the Growls came from, but they were a great opener. I can't say enough about how great Tame Impala was. Do whatever you can to this band on this tour.
I think you underestimate their light show and visuals. I could totally see them being a tent closer since they are listed at number 30 on the lineup.
What's so special about their new light show? I would prefer them not be in a night spot, conflicting with 3 other acts I want to see. I've seen them under both circumstances and it doesn't matter either way. Give me day, give me less of a headache, that's that.

This isnt Burger King we cant all have it your way.

Sure this answers my question, thanks for contributing.
The light show is a backdrop screen projection that is run by one of the members of Mink Mussel Creek (another Perth based band with members of Tame Impala and others) and is coordinated to be in sync with the music. It's pretty bad ass. Last night was the second time I have seen them, both in club venues with the light show. I have seen video of festival shows and I could see that being a fun daytime set if they were put on Which in the early afternoon.

I contributed that Petty and Wu Tang would be at Roo and I believe Petty was the first confirmed Headliner what have you done other than cry about the amazing Coachella lineup and get shat on by badpunz. Yeah thanks for contributing so much that is of use try again.

Wow dude you took that mega personal didn't you what's with all of the run on's have you not heard of comma's they are really awesome and handy and enable you to speak like a coherent individual instead of just spitting out nearly every emotion you have towards me without even taking a break or a pause or a moment to gain clarity or at least reorganize your negativity so it doesn't just spill out like digital regurgitation.

Is that why you didn't use one? I love when people on here have no legs to stand on they resort to grammar and punctuation. It's ok maybe one day you can be on the same level as Great American, Cyclist, or Manders for most useless poster.
I think it's pretty safe to say a lot of us want this show to be at night. You're going to be in the minority on this one, Jones Jupiter.
In all honestly I'm with him I'd love it to be during the day. I just think there is no chance they come on stage before 6. I'm expecting a 7-8:30 in a tent.

If that's the case, they better play Saturday. Scheduling them that close to McCartney would be horrifying.

Sorry I didn't feel the need to talk about myself or "my legs". Unlike you, who will likely always feel the need to drive your little statistic into the ground so someone out there will remember you. I literally just had to ask who leaked Petty again last week. I forget you exist to be perfectly honest. Thanks for keeping tabs on me tho.

EXACTLY. But again to paraphrase Papa Steve, this isn't Burger King so go fuck yourself.
I'm starting to think they will end up playing Sunday since they will be in Atlanta on that Monday...possibly conflicting with Swans and the National. That would be a huge bummer.
Edit: Their website says Thursday June 13th. That doesn't always mean anything, though.

Aw you're so cute when your upset. It's literally been my dream since I first viewed this site in 08 to be immortal, and as of today I have achieved. Thank you, fuckboy

Lol Dude, you're lame and clearly unintelligent. Thankfully we've got this snazzy ignore button. Go away now. Thanks.

After seeing these guys four times since 2010, I can't wait to see them again in March, at Coachella, and at Roo. They keep getting better and better, it's amazing to remember how they seemed so shy and awkward they seemed on their first visit. I hope they finally start to play "Why Won't They Talk To Me" by the time Roo comes around!

If they conflicted with the National I would literally cry and I'd have no shame admitting it. That said, I don't see that happening, as I see the National as more of a Sunday afternoon band, while I think Tame Impala will be around sunset or later. Of course, stranger things have happened.
To chime in on the day vs. night debate, I really wouldn't mind them playing during the day. Yeah, their light show is awesome but I think they have the kind of music that could make for a pretty awesome Which or Tent show during the late afternoon. It really wouldn't bother me if they didn't get a night spot. But as long as they're playing, I don't really care when it is.
Anyone get a poster? Were they custom to GA theatre?
I got the limited edition one with the sea creatures. Mine is numbered 153/200 and I believe they were made for the Terminal 5 show in NYC last Tuesday. I still can't believe they hadn't already sold all of them.
It makes the most sense for them to play Sunday, but I'm hoping for Saturday at the latest. By Sunday afternoon I'm pretty well beat.

Yeah the sea creature one was awesome but it is from the Terminal 5 show only. They had #2/200 at my show but I didn't get it. The one that had the whole tour listed was much less attractive.

There were two posters. One was a tour poster with all the US dates and the other were leftovers for the poster from their NYC show. I didn't get one, but I bought a t-shirt (the white one).
This band exceeded my expectations live. Best $15 show I have ever been to...I'm sure it will be at least double that the next time. I hope they tour the US frequently in the future and their agent doesn't turn down offers from nola venues for the next tour.
The opening band The Growl was pretty lame though because their cheesediick singer. Fvck that guy. Their music wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything impressive/innovative IMO.

You just didn't like him because he was so good looking with all that luscious hair he kept tucking behind his ear.

Well that, the offbeat finger snapping & clapping, pretty much everything about that guy just resonated with douchebauggery. That solo song he did was so terrible that I had to hold myself back from throwing my drink at him. It was funny seeing him standing on the side of the stage watching Tame Impala though. We could sense the envy...completely eat up with it. The sad thing is that band will eventually make it with their black keys wannabe sound, their second unnecessary drummer, and their sexy derp of a vocalist that thinks his shiit don't stank.
