Can anyone who has seen them live give some insight as to how well they reproduce their studio sound live? I think my main concern is the lead singer's voice, which has been very up and down depending on which youtube video you watch.
When I saw them in Austin, his voice was spot on and the band was very tight.

They are unreal live. Up there with Radiohead and My Morning Jacket. I think extremely highly of this band and they are quickly becoming one of my favorites of all time.

I really enjoyed their show, but he definitely seemed to struggle a bit hitting the high notes. It wasn't anything that really affected the show I don't think, but it did kind of come off as nasally at times. Overall great show though and definitely worth checking out.
Just got back from a sold out show in Columbus and they absolutely killed it. Completely spot on and Kevin sounded great voice wise through and through. I can't attend Roo this year but if they get the late night slot they deserve you better not miss it. It's great to see a band like this come about, just seem like something special.

They're playing Sunday, so they won't be getting a late night set. Actually glad about that, would hate to have to decide between them and some of the other late nights. I think they'll be perfect sunset material, closing down a tent on Sunday. Glad to hear you enjoyed the show!

My dad is almost 60 years old and he is basically a musical genius (in my eyes at least)....he loves all the classics, but I showed him Tame Impala the other day and now he is obsessed with listening to them!
I was also at the Columbus show last night, and I concur with everything radioscott said. The latest album translated very well to a live setting. From vocals to keyboards to guitars, it all sounded great. If you're a fan, this is going to be a can't miss show at 'roo.

They've definitely got that old school retro vibe, while still keeping things fresh

I'm 49 and I really like these Guys a lot. Discovered them through the 'Roo Lineup. One of the shows I'm most looking forward to on the Farm this year. Really hoping they dont conflict with David Byrne & St. Vincent, which I think is a very real Possibility.

It was a great show. Performance-wise, the best I've ever seen by them, everything flowed perfectly. Setlist could have used more Innerspeaker. The crowd was super lame, pretty unresponsive and only really perked up when Feels Like We Only Go Backwards was played. Elephant maybe got thirty seconds of jumping before everyone settled down. No one knew any Innerspeaker songs besides Solitude is Bliss. I'm really happy that they're selling out this huge venues, but I gotta be that guy and say I miss the days when they played to smaller crowd who really appreciated it. At least I was there for those shows too!
The venue always attracts a crap crowd, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I fully expect the Roo crowd to be a million times better and I can't wait!
Heard from someone they hadn't really been meshing well live when he saw them about a year ago. Glad to hear that they seem to have hit a groove as of late. Definitely a must see for me, I think sunset would be a great time for them, even though LN would have been cool.

Listened to InnerSpeaker and Lonerism back-to-back today. Hadn't listen to the former in probably 2 years. Its a good album, but Lonerism is light years beyond it. I'm glad they're playing a good chunk of Lonerism material. Along with Beach House's Bloom its my favorite album of last year.
Nick Allbrook has parted ways with Perth psychedelic rock outfit Tame Impala. Allbrook will be replaced by Cam Avery. A statement from the bad can be read below.
"Hey friends, fans and followers, We have big news. It's the end of an era. Tonight Nick play's his last gig with us. Nick Roland Paisley Adams Allbrook is hopping off the Tame Impala band wagon so that he can try and screw his head back on, and make an attempt to assimilate back into society. A task the rest of us fear we will one day have to perform.... Anyway, heir to the throne is our long time super best musical blood brother Cam Avery, ape/womaniser/former pro golfer. You may remember Cam from such bands as The Growl and POND, neither of which he actually plays bass for but uuuh that's how we roll. Anyway anyone who saw us during the Allbrook era will know how awesome nick is, so cam has big shoes to fill, which is fortunate because Cam has big feet. big stinky feet that leave sock footprints in your house when he comes in and he's like, hey man can I sleep on youz guysez' couch?
So Nick plays his last gig at Belvoir Amphitheatre tonight, the very same place he played his first gig with us some 4 or 5 or 6 years ago, not sure on that... Lost track of time... We're super happy for our bro Nick and wish him well in all his various fucking awesome artistic spewings and endeavours that he'll actually have time for now.. Good on ya brah."

I don't think this will affect us (fans/listeners) in any way. Tame Impala is mostly Kevin Parker and this Cam Avery is no stranger to their circle of musicians and bands.

As long as he tones the front man, hair tossing, preening stuff down. Despite longinus's hatred of Cam (former lead singer of The Growl), I actually think it won't be a big deal as long as Parker's still running things.
