The lunar stage was awesome (IMHO) and with Counterpoint and other major EDM festivals expanding, Roo will have to adjust accordingly to the growing trend... Silent Disco just doesn't cut it alone. Counterpoint was lax'd enough to have a shallow pond with colorful wash lighting laying all around it.... I mean what about the Art of Such and Such, Sonic Forest... something mesmerizing/inspiring needs to be in that space again...

They should do a domed tent structure in the free space for EDM artists, running 6-6, and keep all the sound contained inside. They could then dress it up with some trippy lighting effects.

All in all General Population has had a great spot out by the vendors past few years to keep the party goin till sunrise. I couldnt imagine going to a fest that has no onsight camping, that makes you pack it up by 11 - 12 nd dosnt let me party to the wee hrs of the morning
Take it for what it's worth but I saw Big Gigantic in NY a couple nights ago and got a chance to meet Jeremy from BG and mentioned their kick ass set at Roo last year. Asked them if they were coming back and he said "No festival plans for the summer as of right now but who knows with Bonnaroo and their changes".
I might be reading into this too much, but anyone else know more? Could this mean an EDM stage/tent?
I'd love an EDM night stage that isn't as much of a disaster as the Lunar Stage. I'd like it if it'd be a slightly bigger EDM stage, too, that way we can have EDM LNs on that stage and free up the tents/stages for other genres.
I read early on in the thread about not being able to enlarge the Silent Disco. I hope everyone here has had a chance to go to other festivals other than Bonnaroo. Roo's Silent Disco is the smallest one. Other SD's Ive seen have a stage and two DJ's playing at the same time. When you get your headphone you can listen to either change channels throughout the set. It works and it's a lot of fun.
Also bring back Sonic Forest. I've told my husband and sister about and shown them pictures. But I feel I'm not doing it justice in my descriptions.
A little more EDM. It's nothing new. I went to electronic festivals in the late 90's. There's no reason for a festival like Bonnaroo not to devote a little more space and time to the genre. They pride themselves on being the most eclectic festival. Prove it.
I think an extra attraction would be especially good for Thursday night. This years opener was insane.

I can say that Bonnaroo is currently in the planning process for an EDM Stage. Rumors are that it could possibly not even be in Centeroo.

do you think the planning process leads to changes for this year or further down the road?
11/2/19: Tool 5/17/19: Blues Traveler 5/9/19: Tool 11/10/18: Tenacious D 9/20/18: White Denim 7/23/18: Radiohead 6/4/18: Jack White 5/20/18: Tool 5/18/18: A Perfect Circle 5/18/18: Alice in Chains 5/6/18: Blind Melon
I would imagine that an EDM Stage would be successful for Bonnaroo and would probably be kept for years to come until the genre dies down, if that happens.

I think putting an EDM stage somewhere in the campgrounds is an awesome idea. It's interesting they're thinking about doing this, seems similar to the way some of the stages at Glastonbury are situated.
There is still a huge hurdle to overcome with putting an EDM Stage in the campgrounds. While people dont want an EDM Stage in Centeroo due to soundbleed, people also dont want bass thumping their tent while they try to sleep.
If its not going to be in Centeroo, these are the only options I really see on the satellite map. I just cant see them sticking it out directly in the middle of the campgrounds.

The big one you have circled in the bottom-middle is the production area. When I was brought in the backway in 2011, we drove through it and it was all little temporary trailers setup as offices. So I'd rule that out. Pod 1 doesn't seem likely because it's so detached from the rest of the fest. I feel like noobs never even know BFE exists unless they are camped there. Any other place in the campgrounds would be feasible, but I don't think it would be likely due to concerns with security and crowd management.
Logistically, I think inside Centeroo makes the most sense. The bottom left corner you have highlighted by the Which is my guess. Assuming this thing is actually happening.
edit: you can also rule out the area you have circled on the far left of the map. Isn't that where the overflow I-24 tollbooths are setup?

People would know pod 1 existed if they put something over there
I think pod 1 makes more sense than the middle of the campground, especially considering one of the biggest complaints about the lunar stage was the sound traveling into the campground.
POD 1 makes sense to me. It's far but a walk out to 10 and 11 are just as far. People this 1 is a longer walk because you have the spot where there isn't anything going on. But I actually like that idea of putting music there instead of Wednesday campers.
One of the biggest complaints I keep seeing is that the sound takes over and disrupts other attractions. So why not create an electronis area where there will be no chance of the womp womp affecting anyone else.
And as far as liking POD 1 as a camp spot. No one actually likes it. It sucks. Its the land Bonnaroo forgot about. They stick people there and by day 2 it looks like a Zombie refugee camp. I understand the love because you have to make the best of a situation. But it's in no way ideal. It smells too. ;D
And the comment about Bonnaroo proving itself. I don't think they have anything to prove as being the biggest and the best. I was just saying that they say it themselves time and time again that they have the widest range of music. So why not dive into they electronic scene a little more. It's something thats been around for a while and obviously shows no sign of slowing down. Embrace it.
