they could get around it by making pod 1 "EDM World"...no camping, just a couple of stages/tents
but what about those of us who like camping in pod 1
i loved it out there in 2010, i'm just saying that it makes the most sense if your biggest concern is sound bleed. the trees surrounding the pod would kill any bleed.
My guess is actually that it will be put in the forest behind This. With a little bit of work they could make that an EDM haven and the trees would help filter the sound from the rest of centeroo and from Manchester. The sound bleed to the city is what rules out the two options on the left in my mind.
The sliver of volunteer camping over by VIP would be pretty damn funny though
POD 1 makes sense to me. It's far but a walk out to 10 and 11 are just as far. People this 1 is a longer walk because you have the spot where there isn't anything going on. But I actually like that idea of putting music there instead of Wednesday campers.
And as far as liking POD 1 as a camp spot. No one actually likes it. It sucks. Its the land Bonnaroo forgot about. They stick people there and by day 2 it looks like a Zombie refugee camp. I understand the love because you have to make the best of a situation. But it's in no way ideal. It smells too. ;D
There are plenty of folks who actually enjoy POD 1. Hell I loved it the two years I was there at 'Roos '10-11. Sure the walk may be rough by Saturday latenight, but then there's only one day to go. I like that it's a bit more isolated too. Also all of Bonnaroo smells.

Pod 3 had that carnival area and my fellow camp members went to a hidden GAP Stage back there where a few artist played and gave out T-Shirts. I didn't hear the music at night so maybe they could put it back there.
As long as there aren't those fake out doors. Where everything is see through so you don't know which one the door is.... I can barely find my way out of those things sober at the county fair.

I think you're right. PODS 10/11 are further. I walked there once from family camp. Took forever. At one point I thought I was leaving the festival but I kept seeing tents.
Actually I think Bonnaroo is probably the cleanest of the festivals I've been to. But in 2010 My sister was camped there. We drove down together be I had won tickets so my husband and I were in guest camping. So we were taking showers a lot. When I went to visit her I got dirty.

Are the cinema and comedy tents really that loud as they cannot be placed closer together so there will be ample space for a lunar stage? If nething i get the comedy tent no comedian is big enough for a tent and the what stage reserved only for huge name comedians, but cinema tent? I know. I know...."and ARTS festival" but the space surrounding and including the cinema tent is wasteful just move it into a corner somewhere.

Well 2010 we did get a good amount of rain on Wednesday I think it was? So yeah POD 1 was really muddy that year.
Yeah the rain was pretty bad on Wednesday night in 2010. We were at a friends house about fifteen minutes away. So after we went to the Holiday Inn and then got settled in Guest camping I called my sister to see where she was. At first she told me she had no idea. I told her to look up and tell me what number she sees. When she answered "1" I laughed and then brought her one of my complementary bottles of shampoo.
I think a good portion of Bonnaroo'ers were pretty upset (myself included) when the Lunar Stage never returned after 2010. An enclosed EDM tent to help with soundbleed would be awesome! There just wasn't a good variety of dj options last year and certainly no EDM going until sunrise. I mean how awesome was the sasha and digweed set until 7am that one year??
Has this been mentioned? I think it'd be cool to have an area where professional skateboarders and trick cyclists and so forth can put on shows. I've been to the Gravity Games a couple of times, and it's a lot of fun hanging out by a big half-pipe watching these people catch air. This is something music could easily be incorporated into. And picture somebody like Tony Hawk showing up for a demonstration. Something like this could have strong commercial potential for Bonnaroo, actually.

I think Phil has touched on this before, but an enclosed EDM tent has two problem scenarios that go along with it.
1) During the daylight hours (and probably even overnight depending on activity/number of people), it is going to be hot as balls. The other enclosed structures (i.e. cinema tent, sports bar) have a/c in them. A/C would lead to problem #2. 2) People clogging up the tent just because it is cool there. For a smaller example, look at the Troo Music Lounge this year. Whereas I appreciated the bean bags and raised platform, it was always full of people who were sleeping with zero interest in whatever act was playing. It was really annoying for me at least. Dancing in an EDM tent is going to less enjoyable if there is a bunch of people sitting or sleeping in the tent.

No Sasha and Digweed.
That was my first bonnaroo and it was really a fun show.

I feel asleep during fireworks before...but if an EDM tent is goin all day all night, id be amazed if sum hippy came struggling in there to sleep for a few hrs with bass bumping and rowdy techno junkies(myself included). Sure people will be in the back lurking but its better then being caged in the Silent. disco surrounded by people just staring. AC will definitely be a need tho
