I wouldn't count on Beck and Foo Fighters just yet, though. I was one of the random winners they selected and it doesn't look like they're assigning one band to each person. They said in the e-mail that the first 18 people to respond would be the ones involved in the announcement, so inevitably some of the people they DM'd on Twitter will not be involved in the announcement. Thus, they probably contacted multiple people for each act, knowing that not everyone would be involved in the final project.
And when they contact the random people selected, they're not telling them which band they will be announcing, they're just getting them to take a picture with some sort of blank space that a band name can be written over.
Sounds like you're right about Jack White and M83, though (as well as others)! Which is truly f***ing awesome!

Did you even read the post? Jack White and M83 definitely sound like locks. That was pretty solid work, don't scare the new poster off.
What he said was that Virgin Mobile was running a contest where you guess who's playing the festival on Twitter. Last night, they started following people who correctly guessed acts on the bill so that they could DM them. One of the people they followed ONLY guessed Jack White and another they followed ONLY guessed M83, as was the case with Skrillex and others it seems. So I'd say those artists are pretty much locks. I thought that was great work and a great, well-thought-out post. Welcome to inforoo, intothesprawl.

I mean, it sounds to me like there's a 99% chance Jack will be there. I wouldn't get your hopes up on Beck, but I'd be shocked if Jack isn't on the lineup. I'll take the heat for inthesprawl if Jack isn't on the lineup.

Glad to be on here! and thank you for the info about that, I thought it was too good to be true to have Beck, Foo, and Jack White at a free festival, but it is definetly sounding to me that Jack White, M83, Skrillex, Wiz,and Dirty Projector are playing. All were the only guess of a followed member that wasn't playing the 6th. That right there is already a good concert!

It seemed far fetched to me too, and now that I have been giving more information, it sounds unlikely, I could take beck off the list, but I'm almost certain Jack White will be playing.

If you read my post, it states that all these bands were guesses of Twitter accounts that the Free Fest account followed. I then eliminated bands that were guessed that schedule didn't fit, and/or they were actually already playing somewhere else on the 6th
I am not totally buying into Beck,FF, Skrillix, and Jack White being on the same bill for Virgin. I mean stranger things have happened, but those names are a lot bigger than what they have been rolling out with the last couple years. I would two of them at most. Love to be wrong about this though.

Like I said I'd say Beck and Foo Fighers are unlikely, but Jack White and Skrillex at the top of the bill is about on par with what they've had the last few years. Last year, The Black Keys and Deadmau5 headlined and that's about even with JW and Skrillex.

Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Yeah, it seemed like this week from the e-mails, but I'm just guessing. I sent them an e-mail asking when I'd know if I'm in the lineup announcement by, but they haven't responded. I'd say if not later this week, then probably Monday or Tuesday next week. But again, that's just my best guess.
