Just got in from work and as usual there is never a dull day 1 with LD and Viking playing. Not really sure what to make of it, but I will input just a few talking points.
-I never trust fairly active rookies, especially ones that play the innocent clueless rookie card. I did it, Werther did it last game before the restart. To me it seems to be more of a norm than an exceptions. -In the last few games there have been a lot of stupid mistakes followed by something along the lines of "A mafia member wouldn't be that stupid". Its only a matter of time before this becomes a normal mafia move. Roonecter, I specifically wrongfully accused you of doing this a few games ago. -It's really hard for me to base anything on how active someone is on day 1. Being overly active is usually a good way to get yourself in the runoff, being quiet gets people suspicious of you for day 2. We all know day 1 is a crapshoot, sometimes I feel like taking a shot in the dark and sticking to it would be the best option. -Last but not least, I am not targeting these statements at any of you in particular THIS GAME, just some food for thought. My inquisitive day 1 nature usually gets me in trouble, but my goal is to get people talking and theories flowing.
Well, my already long day just got longer and I don't anticipate gettig home for a few hours so
Viking >>> phi
I have explained why I think it is him and laid out the full logic behind it. If everyone wants me killed straight off, so be it. After 6 games in a row of day 1 run offs and now a straight up kill, I am sick of defending the way I play.
I have been pretty good at picking mafia day 1 and though i was wrong on phi the last time he played, I feel much better about it this time around. Ill check back in the am.
Hopefully there will be a runoff. I would like to keep playing and I don't want us to have to dig out of a 6-3 hole again. As I said in a previous post, it is interesting everyone from the original runoff is now out of it.

I agree on the clueless card but not so much on the "fairly active" part. That depends on a lot of factors, like general game traffic. Like this one having had a slow start in general. I was very active my first game and made one glaring rookie mistake early on. I know LLL, Fawn, Quacker and Viking were very active in their first games(all townies) as well. I'm sure they are more, it's just late.

At this point I would prefer a runoff between Viking and Phi instead of simply voting off Viking. But I’ll wait until SFA makes a move before I set in my vote. I think Viking is likeliest to be mafia out of the two, but I think we should let this play out.
I know you are new to the game, but I don't know how many past ones you have read, so I'm sorry if this comes off as preachy.
From my experience, those originally placed in the first round runoff have about a 75/25 chance of actually being mafia. When I'm mafia, I always play it safe in the first round and sit back and/or bs around in the hopes of locking in an all townie runoff that gets the mafia through the first round without having to make much effort/making moves that can link them later. That's the simply way to play it because the innocent people don't know anything. Therefore, they are prone to paranoia and making mistakes that the mafia can use against them later.
That is why I have been urging people to switch things up. It's not a perfect strategy, by any means, but I think everyone being quite today has more to say about the mafia's game plan then any knowledge the townies have.

I would be extremely surprised if SFA voted Viking.
As you should be. I've only been arguing against the runoff all day.
I'm going with one of the quite ones. I'm telling you guys. This feels like a classic first round mafia stradegy. Way to many players are coasting along here.

SFA >>> roonectar
Which is exactly why I support a runoff. I'm confused why you wouldn't.
Jimmyroo >> Phi
??? I was never suggesting that we shouldn't have a runoff. I was suggesting we switch up the players involved in the said runoff and I think I was pretty clear on why. Same reason I usually give in the first round.
Well, we are now stuck with a 2 person runoff in day 1. To Kiko and Jimmy, I really dislike 2 person runoffs, since we cannot find other mafia members. Thats why I like a larger net, instead of just settling in on 2 people.
I think it is likely Phi is mafia, so I am ok in that regard, but I would have liked to see at least 1 of the other people I originally mentioned before Phi blew up. I am glad that their is a runoff in the first place though.
I already said I don't really suspect Phi. I guess I don't really suspect viking either though for the same reasons I don't suspect Phi. People who are overly vocal seem to always get knocked off in the first round and, from my experience, are usually never mafia. Still, I feel more strongly that Phi is probably a townie than Viking so:
I think I am going to give Viking the benefit of the doubt and maybe live to finally see a day 2. It seems to me that some one in mafia always instigates him into making himself look guilty day 1. He's an easy target we can revisit later if need be. Hakuna >> Phi
I have read, but I am not convinced that either of yall are townies or mafia at this point. A big part of round one voting is you have the least amount of info to go on and most times it is a stab in the dark. You can give any reason in the world as to why so and so is innocent or guilty and the same for their defense. From my perspective between these two what Phi has done is more incriminating than Viking at this point. I don't know if there is much more to be laid out there now or not and I don't have a heck of a lot of confidence behind my vote, but I don't think I can vote for Viking over Phi.

lol if i was the inspector you sir would be my next guess if i didnt already have your name!
what I did was "incriminating"?
REALLLYYYYY????
pay attention townies, the mafia strategy is polarizing here
read the post dude, im not putting a friggin guilty stamp on you, just letting you know that from my perspective it is more so you than Viking . . . yes really
Leaving my client now and headed to visit family so I cannot post what I want until later. Jimmyroo, I will elaborate later but the major hole in your theory is that I was asking for people to put roonectar in the runoff until phi became more suspicious. I still find the way he is playing off but I am more suspicious of phi right now. kiko, I have no way of knowing who is mafia and who is not. The only people who do are mafia. Which is why it is funny you are defending phi so much. I actually defended phi early on. He is suspicious to mr not because of the "mole hill " but for his responses to the situation and for lying in response to questions.
Full responses later but wanted to get this out there.
