I figure I'll keep a running tally of my top 10 bands on the lineup (in order of most excited to see):
The Lumineers
Frank Turner
Spirit Family Reunion
Jim James
Shovels & Rope
Houndmouth
Father John Misty
Andrew Bird
The Lone Bellow
The Felice Brothers
I'll keep this list updated weekly unless there's a big change at the top from an announcement. My way to keep my excitement for the festival in tact.
On a side note, while this is a great lineup with a lot of gems, it's still nowhere near to the glorious 2012 lineup that had quite a few of my favorite bands on it (I don't think it would even be possible for a festival to book a lineup as much as I liked NFF '12's).

I think my top 10 so far in no particular order are Shovels and rope Black prairie Hurray for the riff raff Jd mcpherson Father john misty Houndmouth Kingsley flood Bombino The last bison Jim james
I'm happy with the lineup now and there is still another month left on the announcement
I'm pretty happy with the lineup too except there have been very few bands announced over the last 2 weeks that I've been interested in (fortunately the first week and a half of announcements were perfect for me). Unfortunately I'll continue to compare it to last year's lineup, which had some of my favorite bands on tour last summer (MMJ, Dawes, Head and the Heart, Tallest Man, Conor Oberst, Punch Brothers, Of Monsters and Men, Alabama Shakes, Trampled by Turtles, and Tune-Yards).

Everyone should have the Felice brothers at the top of their list. Especially for a Newport Folk show. I will be promoting the hell out of them in here in the coming weeks. Be prepared.

I would have them higher on my list if I had not already seen them twice.
And I'm still a little bitter with them. I went out to their tour with the Dodos. I got caught up at work that night and couldn't get to the show at the start of it. Being that the Dodos are one of my favorite bands and at the top of my "must see" list, I rushed to the venue to get there in time for the Dodos. But instead, the Felice Brothers were headlining and I missed the entire Dodos set.

Langhorne Slim ?@langhorneslim Just learned we get to hang @newportfolkfest for the whole fest. Can't wait to see some dear old friends and make some new ones!
Langhorne Slim after show? Collaborations with Lumineers? Looks like we'll be seeing a lot of them!

My interest in this rolling lineup reveal has completely petered out. At this point I want them to just tell me who the f*ck is playing so I can decide if I need to buy a Friday ticket or not.
Probably a long shot, but Beth Orton was also announced as the opener for Ryan Adams first show backed by a full band since 2009. Would love to get Ryan Adams.

It's funny you say this because I just came over here to post that I am starting to think Ryan Adams may actually end up in Newport. I didn't even realize the Beth piece, but the fact that he's an artist liked on their Facebook page (and one of the few that I could find who has not previously played) and he's now gearing up to release an album this fall and play some shows behind it with a new band makes me start to get hopeful.

I hear you.
I had liked this rolling lineup until yesterday when they didn't even drop a name for us (and instead posted about SXSW all day). I was starting to get hopeful that they did this because they had planned to release the entire lineup at the show.
Not to mention you can tell that they're definitely saving the biggest name for last (or so I'd expect, given that we still seem to be missing Friday and Saturday night headliners).
And seeing the lineup band by band makes me think it's currently bottom heavy compared to past years (although it probably isn't if I could just see all of the names together in some sort of ordered fashion).

When Quacker mentioned the Ryan connection I also thought maybe??? Two things.... Have mentioned to Quacker that I am still waiting for my 'grilled cheese'. NFF has always delivered an artist/band that is warm, comfy, and filling - aka someone known to me as an 'older' fan. Elvis Costello, Jackson Brown (woohoo), Guthries... And there has always been a theme/tribute. Not yet seeing the connection so far. Looking forward to hearing new music to my ears and also waiting for my grilled cheese.
There are quite a few "grilled cheese" acts on the road or hitting the road this summer.
John Prine Natalie Merchant Bob Dylan Emmylou Harris Fleetwood Mac (probably too big) The Black Crowes Paul Simon Leonard Cohen Jeff Mangum John Fogerty

Also, as strange as it sounds, I had the most realistic dream last night where I checked the official lineup page and saw that Iggy Pop was added to the lineup.
