The Auditorium Shores free shows are getting officially released this week, but it had Jim James listed for Friday at 7. It looks like they took it down already though.

Somehow most of my acts got unstarred in my personal schedule and while browsing back through all of the names a few new ones caught my attention. Devendra Banhart, Parquet Courts, Kendrick Lamar, and for nostalgia, Mystikal.
edit: It looks like Saturday night at the Mohawk will have Dawes outdoors - Parquet Courts indoors - Chelsea Light Moving outdoors

The Flaming Lips will be headlining Friday at Auditorium shores along with Jim James and Divine Fits. I expect a massive cluster of people and will probably hit capacity early. This one is high up in my books. Just want to get there early so I can see the show. It was frittata packed getting there late for the Strokes the other year.
Kendrick Lamar will be headlining the Spin Party which was not hard to get into last year.
Vampire Weekend will be at Stubb's Saturday for wristband/badge people.
Just a couple of today's updates.
Also, no Mess With Texas this year. That's what funfunfunfest tweeted to cameronatsxsw.

Atoms For Peace is also a Stubb's rumor.
No Mess with Tx? Pretty much makes my decision for me. I'll be at flips and Jim James for sure.
I'm only going Friday. I'll probably go to the Cedar Street Columbia showcase in the afternoon and Auditorium Shores that night. What time do you guys expect the Flips to hit max capacity? I was planning on heading over there around 5. Will I be ok?
SXSW Panel Celebrates 1969 Line-Up That Predicted The Future of Improvised Music Thursday, March 14 from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. – Austin Convention Center, Room 13AB
“Man, I wish this band had been recorded live because it was really a bad motherfucker,” said Miles Davis, legendary trumpeter and bandleader, who managed to shift the course of music several times throughout his career. He was describing his “Lost Quintet” of 1969-70: Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, Dave Holland and Jack DeJohnette. In fact, the group was recorded – and the proof of their collective magic is now available. With producers of the new Live In Europe 1969, Bootleg, Vol. 2 collection, first-hand accounts from Corea, Miles’s nephew Vince Wilburn Jr.,iconic hip hop duo The Pharcyde, and a rare live video from 1969, we will consider and celebrate the lineup that reflected the fever pitch of the era, and predicted the future of improvised music.
If anyone happens to go to this - I'd love to hear what it was like.
I'm not familiar with Mellow Johnny's Bike shop, so I don't know what kind of setting these will be in or if they will be out on the street and open to the general public.

I'm not real familiar with it either Fuzz but I know KEXP has used it the last few years. Seems really small tho. Here's a look...

Yeah, that looks like it might be tough to get into. What a great lineup though. I could eliminate a lot of showcase conflicts and see a couple of acts I like I might not have caught otherwise.
@jonesjupiter, I see you're heading to Granada to see Tame Impala tonight. Let me know if the smell of mary still lingers. Last night's Badu Birthday bash was the first time I have been inside that theatre under a huge cloud of smoke. I left in a better mood than usual.

Lol lets hope the festivities carry on.
Tho I just finished baking some delicious treats for the show so I won't be much of a contributor tonight.
My head has begun spinning already. Just when I think I have a semi-plausible game plan they keep adding more stuff. Wherever I end up, I know it will be good. I'm going to try and go with the rarities.

I'll probably catch Alt-J at Waterloo and may try and catch that Jim James set at the shores then leave before Flaming Lips to try and get into The Mohawk. I'll shoot you a PM with some contact info.
