My fear of sleeping in the dark went gradually from "Fully bright, no darkness at all" to "pitch black with a tiny sliver of the door open so I could see the hallway light but not so much it came into my room. I still don't know how I used to go to sleep with the lights completely on.
As long as I was fully under the covers and none of my limbs hung off the bed (for easy gripping from the terror lurking under the bed) I was safe from everything trying to slaughter my 6 year old self.

that was so me! I would not have a stray hand or foot hanging off the bed for anything as a kid! mostly because of the "people lick too" story... so creepy.
remember are you afraid of the dark? ? when i was little, it'd watch the beginning, and about half way through each episode i'd make up some excuse about why i had to leave the room.
Shouldn't have done that. Most of the time the story wraps up well in the end. Only occasionally did it end with a twilight zone type of twist.
The worst for me was Child's Play the movie. Watched it in my bedroom late at night on a school night (was young at the time) and I was supposed to be asleep. Mom caught me and forced me to turn the TV off and I never got to see Chuckie get destroyed by Andy and his mom. I saw this creepy doll with a killer's soul murdering a ton of people but never got to see him be served any justice. I thought he was still on the loose.
There was some seriously freaky shit on that show, as I recall. The worst one was that episode with the creepy ass John Wayne Gacy-esque clown terrorizing the kid who ate a bunch of pudding. Oh, and the one where some girl's bitchy sister locks her in an abandoned house with a deaf-mute little girl's ghost. It's a wonder everyone who grew up in the '90s isn't more messed up than we already are.
I'm not sure if I ever actually saw Child's Play. I tried to rent it at the video store when I was about 7 or 8, but my dad wouldn't let me - so instead I somehow talked him into letting me rent my second choice, which was a B-movie about an entire haunted house full of Chuckies. It's hilariously campy to me now, but it's a wonder I didn't require some serious therapy sessions throughout elementary school:
I agree that the picture was in poor taste. I actually googled "wakarusa + collapse" immediately after seeing it.
Did you read the article that said everything was fine (which was the point of the post)? Was it worse taste than a flaming rape bus? I am sorry but if that is all it takes to offend the board these days....

Jess if you can't admit that posting that was in poor taste, I don't know what to tell you. Your post seemed almost tongue in cheek, especially because the EVERYTHING IS A-OKAY article was from the day before your post/photo.
I don't think you did it to intentionally worry anyone, or I would've said something when I first saw it. But it worried me for a moment, for abra and everyone else there, until my google search thankfully came back with nothing. And I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Lets say I concede it was in slightly poor taste, would you concede that if anyone else had done it that Flanzo and Juggs would have ignored it instead of trying to turn it into some large scandal, and used as an excuse for ad hominem attacks?

They probably would have, sure. But you probably wouldn't have

Sigh. Jess, I didn't attack you. I pointed out that Dave was probably wrong in his belief that you had no idea why it was posted on PT. Then you told me to f*ck off and lobbed a bunch of recycled bullsh*t insults. I didn't even comment on you posting the photo, just that you knew full well why PT posted it.
Let it go guys. And from this day forward I swear to try and live up to Emoneys standards. Seriously unnecessary comments. But you are sure free to make all idiotic comments about the mods as you wish.

If you have a problem with me, there are probably better ways to address it than anonymously deleting my posts.

Asking for transparency isn't that ridiculous, especially for something as small as this. As others have pointed out, if something as mild and inoffensive as what emoney posted is now fair game for moderation, that's something the rest of the board might reasonably be concerned about.

I'm kind of behind on this, but why did someone delete Emoney's comment?
Jess is not wrong that a lot.of people in this board go nuts in response to harmless jokes and insist on discussing them down to their base before they let them go, and even then act butthurt about it.
Wait something is weird, I did not delete any posts....we need to figure this out. Give us a little time to do so. Asking for transparency is one thing, accusing mods of being bad at their job is another. Not sure what is going on with the deleted posts.
How about enough on member's poor taste in jokes and scary movies, lets get this thread back on topic.
I was invited to attend Wakarusa and I wanted to know, besides the wind, rain, and what looks like a small stage collapse, how was it? Any Good performances?

abrakapokus got back late last night/early this morning. I fully intend on making her tell me everything about it when I get home from work tonight. There were a bunch of comments on the facebook that WSP and Umphrey's were great, but that's not surprising to me. I want to hear about the smaller acts.

There was no stage collapse, which is why people are mad at Jess.
Hopefully she was able to catch one of the three Quixotic shows at waka. They were very entertaining at Hangout and Abra would love them. I know Galactic and Shpongle was cancelled friday due to rain, but did any other high-billed acts have to cancel?
I actually got home from Waka on Saturday night, but only because one of my Wakamates was a crazy person. It's taken me two days to clean the mud off my gear to see if I need anything new before Bonnaroo. It rained and stormed a lot. The entire venue was a mud pit, a lot like planet earth when it rains a lot. At least as of Saturday morning, lots of sets were canceled and it was continuing to storm. I saw YMSB, Black Crowes (killed it!) and a part of STS9 before they stopped the show. On Friday, I listened to The Whigs, Deep Vally and Of Monsters and Men napping in my hammock. Then Umph, Tipper and the Werks put on one of the best Friday nights of my life. After my Wakamate freaked out, I left on Saturday morning caked in mud and glitter. I wish I could have stayed because I heard that WSMFP put on an epic performance. I did get to see them for two nights in April so don't feel too bad for me While the infrastructure at Waka needs improvement, it really wasn't that bad. Bonnaroo '09 was comparable. Waka is just smaller so it seems like more mud and chaos. I just follow the be-prepared-for-everything creed when I pack for a festival, so my clothes and tent stayed dry, I didn't end up with a pile-o-EZ up and chances are I don't have Hep C. If it rains and the venue becomes a mud swamp, it's going to be hard to get out. Budget for a tow truck! For the most part, everyone was in good spirits and didn't let the storms get in the way of their good time. When they closed the stages, the party moved to the campsites. It did get crazy, but I didn't personally see anything out of line. Kids were spun, but aren't they always? I can't wait to go back next year! However, I will never attend a festival with an internet stranger again.
