I got a suite at the Galt House. It was 129 per night and didn't have to put down a deposit. I just called them. Any lineup rumors floating around yet?

Galt house is probably the most convenient place to stay for this fest, and a really nice place. Haven't heard anything rumor wise, but I think Jim James is definitely likely for obvious reasons.
Last year I booked Galt House end of February, no deposit needed, no issues. Super close to the festival and HUGE. Nice to have a 24-hour deli in the hotel, weird to be there at the same time as a conference for judges and the blind though, made for interesting people watching in the atrium...

Watch for the special fest rates at the Galt soon. Last year it was $100/nite for 2 beds and/or 12 people. Ask for a balcony room near the pool patio for latenite outdoor mischief. If Dylan stumbles in, let him sleep in the pile of empties on your floor, so that he feels comfortable.
I had such a great time at this fest last year. I'd love to go back! The Galt House was not great, but it was definitely VERY GOOD. And the blind convention going on at the same time just gave it a little extra charm. I'd definitely recommend it for Forecastle 2013.
When I went out for lunch before the Saturday of Forecastle 2012, some jerkstore rear-ended me at a red light -- completely busted up my car. But you know what? The rest of the festival was SO GOOD that I didn't even care about my smashed-up vehicle. Just a GREAT fest, with no hassles and one of the best overall positive atmospheres you could ever ask for. The underpass was a cool element too. I thought it would be distracting, but you can't hear the cars at all, and made for some sweet shade. And how awesome was that stream running through the middle of Waterfront Park?
It breaks my heart that I may not be able to make Forecastle this year. But the festival, and Louisville, made such an impression on me last year that I KNOW I'll be back at Forecastle in 2014!
I just wanna let you guys know that if anyone needs a place to crash my apartment is always open; instead of ~$100 I just charge a bottle of good bourbon and a sober driver at least one night

I wouldn't be surprised if the Flips came back to headlines this year.....this is also based solely on the fact that Forecastle social media has posted about them on two different occasions, and the only other artist I've really seen them mention was Jim James
Also, do you guys think Jim could headline a night? I know it seems strange considering MMJ headlined last year. But I would think Jim's draw in Louisville could put him 3rd on the lineup.
Hotels are fine. It's downtown in a large city. You might get better prices now. The quasi-official deal is the Galt House. But there are cheaper and closer options, like Hamptons and Marriots and such. (It's held in the big, green area by the water.) maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&bvm=bv.41867550,d.dmg&biw=1440&bih=805&wrapid=tlif135975407669810&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=downtown+louisville+hotels&fb=1&gl=us&hq=hotels&hnear=0x88690b1ab35bd511:0xd4d3b4282071fd32,Louisville,+KY&sa=X&ei=bTMMUZLjCOmF0QHd6YC4DA&ved=0CNUBELYD
Also don't rule out staying right across the bridge in Southern IN if you are driving in. It's probably slightly cheaper over there, but it's also Southern IN which is the scummiest place in the US.

meh, if those are the headliners count me out. Unless the undercard is just amazing. But I have zero interest in seeing any of those bands. Jim & Friends is okay, but I'm sure I'll be seeing him at a different festival regardless.
