What an incredible weekend. For the second straight year, I couldn't have had more fun at Forecastle. My highlights: 1. Jim James. The set picked up momentum, with a powerful finish. 2. Boys Noize 3. String Cheese 4. Old Crow Medicine Show 5. Avett Brothers Some other personal highlights: - Got to meet and hang out with some inforoo'ers. - String Cheese Incident late night was off the hook fun. Loved the venue, and it was a a great, energetic crowd. - Later that night my wife and I met Jason Hahn at the Prime Lounge. He even bought us a beer. Genuinely awesome guy. He was going to play a secret show if enough people showed up,. Even after only a few people filtered in he stuck around and hung out with us. - Mud slides Sunday night before the Avett Brothers. Yes, that was my friends and I. Good muddy times. - After playing in the mud we ended up dancing in the waterfall stream for part of Datsik. - Doing suicides into the Galt House pool at 4:30 a.m. - only to get run out by security. - I really love the setting, on the Ohio River with plenty of great restaurants within easy walking distance.

Okay, my highlights:
-Black Keys. I thought they put on an amazing set. I was feeling REALLY sick during it and normally I would go home at that point, but I stuck it out because the music was so great. Awesome guitar. -Old Crow Medicine Show. They were freaking awesome. -Avett Brothers. We listened from by the boat dj and laid on one of the waves. It was awesome to stare at the sky and listen to the music. -The rain storm on Sunday. People were yelling and running and screaming and it was great. -The great weather the other two days. Just perfect. Wish Bonnaroo had been as nice.

Did anyone watch the Forecastle Incident? I got a couple songs at the beginning, but I was wondering if they ended up bringing any cool unannounced guests out?
Forecastle was my favorite festival so far this year!!! So glad to meet some inforoosters. Saw Klimfactor mudslide!! Loved a 15-minute ride home after the fest. And my husband actually attended a festival and had fun. Trying to talk him into Bonnaroo next year, but so far, no go Favorite acts in no particular order: Forecastle Incident String Cheese late night at the Palace (if you ever can catch a jam band play, you should!) Boys Noize Robert Plant and the sensational rain! Big Boi Datsik before Avetts Dawes Jim MF James!!!! Can't wait to do it again next year!

I don't remember any unannounced guests, but it was a really strong song selection with top notch musicianship. Pairing them with Sam B. was a real treat IMO.

It was also the first time sci has ever done an entirely instrumental set. I thought it was a great day time set. Friday night cheese was a really solid show too. Big Boi and moon taxi into sci was perfect for me. Flaming Lips were good, but I don't dig the slower pace of their current tour. Missed the black keys to get ready for late night sci. That show is easily in the top 5 sci shows I've ever seen and omg the palace is beautiful. I thought the fox in atl was nice, but the palace makes it seem like a cheap imitation.
Forecastle was great. I had reservations since I don't usually like city fests, but the venue, weather, people, music, and food were all great. Loved Louisville. Really cool city.

Great photos Phi, thanks I've wanted to go, but not been able to, but next year I am going!! Everything about this festival looks wonderful and it isn't too far from Nashville.

Agree with everything that's been said. Forecastle was amazing. I loved how layed back the atmosphere was, and it was really easy to get a great view of every show.
I had never seen SCI before and I was completely blown away. AND THE PALACE THEATER!!! I can't believe more inforooers weren't chirping about this place. Not only was it stunningly beautiful, but the sound was impeccable.
Forecastle is looking like a yearly fest for me at this point. So much value for the price and I can make the trip while only taking off 2 days of work. What a great time

So I actually got a chance to interview Purity Ring as they had expressed interest in learning about bourbon and I write a bourbon blog (covering the Bourbon Lodge was how I got in as media). We did a bourbon tasting together in the Bourbon Lodge. I'll post pictures and the story later on my blog and put a link here, but yeah...meeting them then hearing them play later was the highlight of my weekend. They are such sweet people -- Corin, Megan and their whole crew.

Well don't leave us hanging.. what kind of bourbon did they like the most?

Previously they really liked Maker's Mark because it was one of the only good bourbons they could get up in Canada, but with what we tried, they really liked the Four Roses Single Barrel. Megan also likes smokey scotch so I got her to try the Corsair Triple Smoke and that was a hit with her, as well.

You out of towners who are loaded(that is all of you , right?) should stick around an extra week to enjoy all Louisville has to offer and stay for Lebowski Fest the following weekend. Another Louisville treasure!

Does anyone know how to reach the official merch store? I got an email with a 25% off coupon but can't find the site to use it.. The link in the email is broken and googling "forecastle merch" yields nothing.
