While conversing with the Mcintosh salesman at Best Buy, I mentioned I had seen Mastodon at Shaky Knees. He said I did not look like someone that would see that show.
Relaxing 300yrds away from the stage, laying down, in shade, drinking, isn't exactly "seeing the show" to be fair.
Came down with the worst f*cking virus of my life wheb i got home. Just now able to keep fluids down.
Fantastic weekend. Great meeting most of you. Really only ran into 1 d*ckwad all weekend and i was too happy to really care. Agree that was the weakest set ive seen of nmh. Fidlar crowd was one of the most fun ive been in.
Thanks to sfa angie and jared for being the best hotelmates. And noage for being trashed at tame impala with me.
I think Tame Impala would have been up there, but I tied one on too hard for Sunday night. Sorry y'all. It was really great meeting/seeing everyone!
Hahahahaha. No need to be sorry, but you were for sure enjoying yourself. I have a wonderful video of you dancing with rdk with your poster tube and yelling "NO FACEBOOK!" at me. It was fantastic.
Oh man, that sounds perfect. I need to drag CPK to this one day.
I'm enjoying the discussion about whether VIP is worth it based on viewing areas and ability to get up close. Any more opinions? Thanks in advance
The only benefit to VIP is free alcohol, food. It's easy to get close to most shows with GA.
Thanks. I just didn't know with this new layout. I went the past two years but couldn't this year. Last year, for example, it definitely was not easy to get close to the main stages in GA.
As far as potential acts go for next year's fest, I would like to throw Swans' name into the ring. They should have a new record coming out this time next year, and when I saw them in March, Gira said they'd likely start touring again in April 2016. Can you imagine them closing the Buford Stage one day and a late night at Terminal West? Yes fucking please I say.
I dunno if they're in Sweetwood's wheelhouse or not, but they'd be a must see if they are on next year's bill
I wouldn't be surprised at all. I think he just goes on all of our music libraries and picks out random bands because that's what it seems like.

The only problem I had was the mass amount of people trying to push forward during the Strokes. Why do people get mad when they try to push forward when they're already really close and people block them off? Like this one dude got really pissed off and he wasn't even drunk or anything. Wish more people would stand up to those dicks.

There was a post on their Facebook last year where they asked who everyone wanted to see this year. I believe they really used that to book the lineup.

FIDLAR was sooooo much fun. I thought I was gonna die in the pit. I kept taking hits in the ribs and all the moving/pushing/shoving was exhausting me and it caused me to not be able to take full breaths at one point and it was one of the most fun shows I've ever attended at a festival. Sadly, I had to opt out of seeing them tonight because I've therapy in the morning AF don't feel like explaining a black eye, haha

I wouldn't be surprised. Sweetwood is such a people person as it is
How do poster artists make their work? Does anyone know? Like is this 100% all from scratch? Or does he find an old image of a guy standing like that and put it in the work and edit it up? There are so many amazing posters that blow my mind and I have no idea how one even begins making them.

For this he had me pose for him like one of those french models while he sketched my body and added a mustache. Not sure why he drew pants though, cause I definitely didn't have any on.

A lot of artists put up process videos, look them up. They are fascinating. And don't believe anyone who says they don't trace the shit in illustrator

Brilliant. I knew there was probably some way I could find that but didn't know what to look up. "How to make a poster" doesn't get good results.
Definitely going to look those up. There have been times in the past where I'd think "there's no way they made that" and never really understood the laws/rules for using some other work of art/photo in your own work of art so wondered how the poster designers came up with this stuff.

It's kind of a questionable subject, technically tracing a copyrighted image is still copyright infringement, but then the question becomes how much alteration is needed before it's original work.

I actually have the guys personal facebook if you want to contact him yourself
I was able to upgrade to VIP by getting the SK tattoo and it was one of the best decisions of my life. I got bring out free beer by the arm full and pass them out to my friends all weekend. And free food without those truck lines, great views, and air conditioned & running water bathrooms. It was glorious. Definitely get the early bird VIP next year.
Even though I was pretty drunk from all the free beer, it was nice to see some familiar inforoo faces at Spiritualized and meet some new ones too. It was such a great show.
My going to this was almost literally a last minute decision... I got my Friday pass just a day before, and even then I didn't know if it would happen. Because I didn't expect to go, I didn't want to check in here so as to make myself less depressed, haha. I wish I could have met up with some of you all, but I'm just glad everyone had a great time. Atlanta is a bitch of a trip, but it was worth it for this.
Also, Mastodoooonnnnn!!!! With this show, they've firmly planted themselves into my favorite metal acts of all time.

Thanks, but it's more of just a general "concert posters creation" question. Not something specific to just Status. Appreciate the offer though.
Finally getting back to normal after that amazing weekend.
Top 5 (in no particular order): Minus the Bear, Mountain Goats, Tame Impala, Mac DeMarco, Interpol (with a hat tip to Wilco, who I've seen several times but that was the best I've heard them sound)
I'm a little disappointed more people didn't get to see Minus the Bear because that show was amazing.
Can't wait to do it all again in another year.
Anyone got any way too early predictions/requests for bands for next year? I'll start off with requests of MMJ, Beck (it has to happen at some point, right?), Damon Albarn (in whatever form), of Montreal, Pinback, Polica, Arctic Monkeys, Thee Oh Sees. I had a longer list that I made while watching The Both but can't seem to find it now.
Hate to be the barer of bad news, but if you haven't seen Pinback before, you will never again. Rob Crow announced that he was quitting music.
