Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I put parking stickers on peoples cars about 5 times an hour for 5 hours (at an air conditioned hotel), and then deconstructed the karoke stage for about an hour and a half sunday night. thats it.
so you did during festival? does anyone have any examples of what the prefestival jobs were like? i really want to goto rothbury also next year. anyone volunteer there?
I'd also like to know a bit more about pre-festival volunteering. I'll either be living in the boro or Nashville, I don't want to get wore out camping in the heat before the festival and I'm wondering if I'd be able to drive in each day?
also, can pre-festival volunteering include helping create the artistic stuff on the grounds?

I volunteered pre fest this year, and It was awesome. All the other volunteers were all so cool and you get to camp out on the farm for 8 nights. It is a lot of fun. The work shifts kinda suck because its so hot, but all the supervisors are all cool too. Some of the jobs that I did for pre-fest were: Moving bails of hay at the adobe post office, moving in vendors and their merch, setting up tables in the different lounges, counting and moving boxes of shirts, and painting the faces of the famous people on the walls inside centeroo. We also played alot of frisbee, took naps, and just cruised around on golf carts alot too. I'm not sure if you can drive in each day or not, I didn't see anyone doing that, but it dosent seem like it would be a problem as long as you made it ti all your shifts on time. But camping with all the other volunteers is what makes it awesome. You make so many friends and you all become a little community. It is definitally worth it and Ill be down there next june doin the same thing

Ya it is really fun, If you really want to im sure you can help with some of the artistic stuff. A couple of the other volunteers helped painting the fountains. They're always looking for people who will help out with anything so Im sure if you offered to help with the fountain you could probably do it. As far as helping with the pods Im not so sure. They had a whole different "team" of artists already camping there working on the pods when we got there, so I think the artists they hire take care of all that. The shifts I worked were two 8 hour shifts and one 6 hour shift, but they go by pretty quick because everyone you're working with is cool and the work is not really that hard. And if I remember right I think one guy had an RV in the volunteer camping and I don't think it was a problem for him.

wow thanks for all the info! i am an artist myself, so doing anything artistic at bonnaroo is like a dream come true. sounds like i am going to be volunteering next year! i can't wait to go back to roo! only 316 days, and i guess 313 for volunteers!
Yes, prefest volunteers can leave when not on duty. The parking pass thing needs to get fixed by next year though. I really wanted to paint that fountain!!! Then when I saw it I really wished ANYONE would have painted it. At least done a little better than a few bugs. The checks from the year before were much nicer.

I like the wavy stripes idea and the black light idea, jennaroo. Very cool! Maybe some brave local will go sneak onto the farm and paint it something worthy of it's rooness.

Watchin' a stretch of road, miles of light explode. Driftin' off a thing I'd never done before. Watchin' a crowd roll in. Out go the lights it begins. A feelin' in my bones I've never felt before...
Just wondering- is post festival hard to get? Everyone mentions how quick prefest fills...I'd figure post would be along the some lines but then again its after and everyone would be tired so I'm not sure..
Do they re-imburse you if you already have a ticket? I want to do pre-fest volunteering but I also bought a pre-sale ticket in December just in case.
I don't think that they do-- but it probably wouldn't be hard to sell your ticket to someone on the board or something if that's the way you decide to go.
I might be wrong, and correct me if I am. But I thought that you are required to buy your own ticket and than they reimburse you the cost of the ticket after you have completed your volunteering duties. Thus to ensure you actually show up and work.

I'm pretty certain its a deposit in the amount of a ticket and you're reimbursed after the fest. They dont actually reimburse you for the ticket. I think you'll need to sell it if you end up volunteering.

There is a guy named barelyedible on the Bonnaroo board asking everyone that can walk to volunteer for his food group. I dont even think he is messing with the deposit option. Bamadancer it might be a better deal to volunteer through him and tell the roo nevermind. I spoke with the guy and he seems very cool.
i too need to sign up to volunteer 2009... although for some reason i was under the impression that the volunteer/staff camping is air-conditioned?
but i just re-read the thread and that doesn't seem to be the case. oh well also, the bathrooms are real, and the showers are free, correct?
thanks for the infoguys,
The paid staff has air-conditioned camping, but they also work 12 hour shifts. Vol Camping is just like regular camping, but it's separated by a little fence.
The bathrooms are portos unfortunately but the showers are real! and very nice!

They work like 30-40 hours he said, F that, thats vacation time. I dont mind volunteering though and putting in 10 or so but 12 hour shifts is crazy when you only have 20 awake hours
So my friends and I are really excited about volunteering this year. I was wondering if anyone could recommend volunteering for Roo itself (Pre fest), or Clean Vibes(Post fest)?
Either Roo or Clean Vibes would be great. The only reason I chose not to do pre- or post- fest last year was my inability to get off work for that long. Plus, I am kind of girly and wasn't so sure about spending 7 days on the farm! This year though, I may reconsider.

my boyfriend may decide to volunteer pre fest if possible, and I meet up with him once the festival starts, because it will probably be tough to swing two tickets, and that way he'll get reimbursed and I can watch the baby while he's up there before I leave.
Prior warning, pre-fest is hard to get into if you haven't volunteered before. I'm not trying to rain on your parade; it's just that people who have volunteered before typically get preference, and usually the pre-fest slots fill up with people who have volunteered before. Get your application in EARLY is my best advice, and be prepared to work during fest if you have to.
